If there is a season for advanced cooling solutions, that season is summer. As temperatures are rising, enthusiasts are easily enticed by high-end cooling solutions, making it easier for companies to market them as well. Today we are having a roundup review to look at nine of the best air-based CPU coolers available.

Apple fanboys discover new way to escape the genepool

Let's make our phone look like a handgun
While a big chunk of Americans don't believe Darwin's theories, it seems that Apple fanboys are doing their best to remove themselves from the genepool.
Apparently one of the most popular toys is an iPhone case which looks like a handgun. The theory is that if you put one in your pocket people will not mess with you or try to take your overpriced phone.
The reality, according to US coppers is that you are more likely to be shot by gangsters or cops who believe you are looking for a rumble. If someone rings you, you have to take it out of your pocket and it looks like you are drawing first.
New York City Police Department's 112th Precinct also tweeted about the dangers of carrying a smartphone in the gun-shaped cases.
"I would NOT suggest purchasing this cell phone case, which was designed to look like a firearm," the tweet reads.
The cases are available on a number of high profile US online retailers and reportedly start from just $4.99... r £3.20.
IT does not matter if most Apple fanboys are thin, spotty mummies boys either. In fact that is exactly the profile that tends to carry handguns to shoot up schools.

With custom PCB, 14+3-phase VRM and ACX 2.0+ cooler
EVGA has announced its latest addition to the Geforce GTX 980 Ti lineup, the new EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+.
The new GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ should be based on the same design as the earlier unveiled GTX 980 Ti Classified Kingpin Edition as it features the same "taller custom PCB", 14+3-phase VRM powered by two 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors and EVGA's ACX 2.0+ dual-fan cooler with backplate.
In case you missed it earlier, the GTX 980 Ti is based on Nvidia's GM200 GPU with 2816 CUDA cores and EVGA decided to factory-overclock its new GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ to 1190MHz for the GPU base and 1291MHz for the GPU Boost clocks. It also comes with 6GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at reference 7010MHz and paired up with a 384-bit memory interface.
The EVGA GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ also features support for EVGA EVBot and has dual BIOS support. It currently sits below the EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid and the Hydro Copper versions of the GTX 980 Ti graphics card.
In case you missed it earlier, the new ACX 2.0+ cooler should provide up to 20 percent cooler GPU, up to 15 percent cooler memory and up to 13 percent cooler MOSFETs, while even providing lower noise, thanks to triple 8mm heatpipes and two double ball bearing fans.
Currently only listed at EVGA's webshop, the new EVGA GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ should be available soon with a price set at US $699.99 in the US and €819,00 in Europe.
Crossfire and SLI market is just 300.000 units
Insider confirms
Next time you get to complain about the lack of SLI support or Crossfire support, you will have to remember this number.
According to our well informed industry insiders, there are only about 300,000 people who own SLI or Crossfire setups. This doesn’t sound like a big number at all, considering that the PC gaming market, according to Jon Peddie Research, is a $21.7 billion market. This number combines CPUs, motherboards, GPUs, Monitors, peripherals, SSD and everything else you need to play games on a PC.
It is hard to find the right numbers on how many GPUs Nvidia or AMD sell, but you would expect that SLI and Crossfire enthusiasts capture a bit more than 0.3 million. This can also give you an idea that the GPUs we can so much about, including Geforce GTX Titan, Geforce GTX 980 TI or AMD Radeon Fury X are a tiny fraction of overall sales.
What we have been preaching for a while these 300K people really know what they are doing, most of them at least. These are usually super high end enthusiasts, spending a lot of time on forums, comment sections of tech websites. They are very opinionated and they are really passionate about who they support - AMD or Nvidia.
In case you are one of these 300,000 you should feel special, as not too many people spend $1,000 to $2,000 on two GPUs. In case the game supports it, and in case that the driver is there, there is no doubt that two cards are better than one. The big obstacle is that two cards e.g. Fury X usually cost twice as much as one Fury X card. The same logic applies to GTX 980 TI cards, and let's not forget that you also need a better PSU, chassis and so on.
Jon Peddie researchers are quite certain that the gaming market will grow from the existing $21.71 billion to $23.11 billion market by 2017, and with that we expect that the number of SLI and Crossfire setups will grow.
Innovations like G-Sync and FreeSync have definitely boosted monitor sales and many people want to get 3840x2160 aka 4K monitors or some curved or wide screen monitors to make their gaming better.
In case you own a mainstream card such as the Geforce GTX 760 / 960 or Radeon R9 280 / 380, don’t be sad, you are still better off than more than 50 percent of market that are stuck with Intel integrated graphics. According to a Steam survey, the most popular "graphics card" in the world is still Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Windows 10 Editions Compared
Today Microsoft has finally created tables outlining what the different versions of the operating system are going to feature. It was back in May that they finally announced all of the versions of Windows 10 that are coming, but the actual features of each version was still a mystery. We could of course take an educated guess based on history, but as of today there is finally a list of all of the features broken down by version.
As a refresh, on the PC there are four basic versions. Home and Pro are the two that will be available for most people to purchase, and Enterprise is available to customers with volume licensing agreements. There is also an Education edition targeted towards that market.
As expected, Home has the fewest features available. Much like previous versions, there is no support to join an Active Directory domain, but that was not expected either. One thing that many users were hoping to see on Windows 10 Home is BitLocker support. BitLocker is Microsoft’s drive encryption suite, and Windows 10 Home does not have this unfortunately. There can still be encryption, but only as part of InstantGo, which was formerly known as Connected Standby. InstantGo is Connected Standby plus device encryption, and that is available to Home.
Windows 10 Pro keeps support for Remote Desktop, and it can of course join an Active Directory domain just as in prior versions. It also has access to the new Windows Update for Business service, but it must be kept on the Current Version branch.
Enterprise and Education are very similar, and both offer practically the same feature set. The one big difference is that Enterprise customers can opt into the Long Term Servicing Branch whereas Education customers cannot.
Pro, Enterprise, and Education also have access to the Business Store for Windows 10, and even the Home version supports side-loading of business apps.
One thing that is nice to see is that all versions feature support for Mobile Device Management, although the Home version will not have this support initially and it will be added at a later time.

The AMD Radeon R9 Fury X Review: Aiming For the Top
Having launched last week and being reviewed today is AMD’s Radeon R9 Fury X, the company’s new flagship single-GPU video card. Featuring a fully enabled Fiji GPU, the R9 Fury X is AMD's new Fiji GPU at its finest, and a safe bet to be the grandest video card AMD releases built on TSMC’s 28nm process. Fiji is clocked high, cooled with overkill, and priced to go right up against the only GM200 GeForce card from NVIDIA that anyone cares about: the GeForce GTX 980 Ti.
