The folks of Mashable did an excellent rundown of the idea of a telepresence robot, which is basically a way to have an annoying colleague running around without him actually being there. He’ll be replaced by a robot… well, sort of.

Double Robotics created this telepresence robot, going for $2500 apiece. It’s both creepy and cool, seeing how you can control this gizmo around the office, as it shows your face on its screen. This concept has been tried before, by the likes of iRobot, who created the AVA 500 model, that packs an iPad-based navigation system.

It has a pre mapped location setting and it costs $2500 to rent per month. However, for the same amount you can buy your own Double, that lacks sensors or the stability of the AVA 500, but it makes it makes up with… cuteness. While some telepresence robots use sensors to detect obstacles, the Double will rely on the user’s skills, as he uses physical keys on the iPad Mini for example to drive the robot around.

The gizmo uses a mirror pointed at the iPad’s rear facing camera to see what is placed at the robot’s feet. You’ll get a dual view of what’s in front and below the bot. Video and sound quality will depend on the WiFi network, but even so, don’t expect a crisp HD experience. Quite a nice Xmas present this one, right?

If you thought Android gaming consoles are a fad, well they’re not and they come in all shapes and sizes. It’s not uncommon to also see the occasional Android gaming phone or tablet, so there’s that. Such a newcomer is the Unu tablet, shown below and priced at $200.

This device is both a gaming device and a slate and originally it was meant to be released this summer, but now it’s coming in fall. We’re dealing with a 7 inch tablet with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, dual cameras (2 MP front, 5 MP back), 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, HDMI output, USB ports and a microSD card slot.

Said card slot supports up to 64 GB in extra storage and the device comes in two editions. One is the Media Edition, at $200 and the other a Gaming Edition with a controller, as shown above. f course, you probably shouldn’t expect the same quality as the one of an Archos gaming tablet.

Grand Theft Auto V, the latest in Rockstar’s iconic franchise, has been selling at an incredible rate. Now Guinness World Records has confirmed that the game holds 7 world records for sales!

GTA V’s accolades include the “Fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion,” and “Highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours.” So anyone who still says that video games aren’t viable against Hollywood, can put that in their pipe and smoke it!

Any news of GTA V‘s success is great for everyone involved in the game. Juggalo character Wade reached out to us via Skype to share his excitement:

Guinness announced the breaking of 6 records on Tuesday, and added a 7th later on. Grand Theft Auto V is still selling like hotcakes, and could obliterate more sales records before its through.

Guinness World Records can today confirm that the launch of Grand Theft Auto V has broken six new world records including the Highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours and the Fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion.

Released on 17 September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, the fifteenth title in the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA V, was the first main entry since Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008.

Developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games, the critically acclaimed open world action-adventure video game sold 11.21 million units in its first 24 hours, and generated revenue of $815.7 million (£511.8 million), going on to reach $1 billion (£624.45 million) in sales after just three days on September 20 2013.

The figure smashes records previously held by the Call of Duty videogame series and blockbuster movies including The Avengers and Avatar.

Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief, Craig Glenday, said: “GTA totally deserves to be recognized as an icon of modern British culture, and we’re thrilled to be able to feature the game in the record books. Gaming is no longer a niche hobby, as GTA 5 has proved, and how exciting that it’s taken on the might of Hollywood and won! I’m also doubly proud as a Dundonian to welcome this home-grown series back into the Guinness World Records book.”
