I took the time in the church library while Donna was reshelving books to look for the Articles of Faith from when the church was established. Between services, I said "hello" to Mark, the present minister, who was busy and remarked that we still use the Articles of Faith today, "I know that well." The first minister of the Park Street Church,Boston was Edward Griffin, also the first Phi Beta Kappa student at Yale, and apparently Donna was Phi Beta before I met her. His particular theme was preaching against something referred to as the New Divinity. I was surfing today and found that we are listed by the National Historical Park Service along with our adjacent Granary Burial Ground. The president at the time was James Madison. Below is a historical perspective.

| THIS WEEK'S TORAH PORTION | In this Torah portion, Jacob favors Joseph, and this angers Joseph's brothers. Joseph has dreams in which he predicts reigning over his brothers, provoking them further. They decide to sell Joseph into slavery in Egypt. Tamar disguises herself as a prostitute and sleeps with her father-in-law, Judah. In Egypt, the wife of Joseph's owner tries to seduce Joseph, and when he rejects her, she accuses him of trying to rape her and has him sent to prison. In prison, Pharaoh's baker and butler have dreams, and Joseph interprets them correctly. | |

Please note that the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere occurred the day before The Shot Heard Round the World, as was its purpose. During 1772, Paul Revere had made church bells manufactured from copper and tin for several of the churches in Boston.
This is the view of Paul Revere's grave from inside the church, on Brimstone corner, a granary used to store gunpowder during the revolution. Donna is cataloging book donations in the library- I have lunch overlooking the graveyard. Today is Palm Sunday.
Postscript: To commemorate the 250th anniversay of Paul Revere's Ride, The White House noted that the ride was intended to communicate with Sam Adams and John Hancock- both patriots are buried next to Paul Revere and their graves can also be viewed from where I have lunch on Sundays. Today was a week day and Donna bought me brunch in Cambridge, Massachusetts. (We did in fact take part of Brattle Street home. The name of the national park is Longfellow House-Washington Headquarters, but evey time we pass it she asks if its the other yellow house right before it, but she remembers the rabits in the garden.)

While Donna was busy in the library, I very awkwardly introduced myself to President of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, and after years and years of living in Boston I really said something like 'are you whom I think' while telling him that I had seen his books and had always looked forward to meeting him- all of which was ok, but honestly, I probably just hadn't had had coffee...
Usually Dr. Elaine Phillips is here and does answer questions about Scripture occaisionally.

The above film is revolves around a murder at a seance. I liked the feel of it enough to add a number of films that could be screened to in part make up a festival. Please view any of the below films that seem to be of interest.
