STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Director Re-Opens Title Debate
After Avengers: Infinity War… Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet?!

Ever since Marvel changed the planned titles of Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Untitled Infinity War Sequel, fans have wondered what Marvel has in store for the follow-up film. Well, thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 star Zoe Saldana, we may finally have our answer. In a video posted on Twitter by BBC reporter Lizo Mzimba, Saldana said of filming schedules:
We’re in the middle of it. I think the Guardians just shot their part when it comes to Infinity Wars, the first part, and we all have to go back for Gauntlet later this year.
While most assumed that Infinity War would draw heavily from the Infinity Gauntlet story in the comics, it seems like it could serve mostly to set up that story, with the big cosmic battle against Thanos occurring in the second film. That is, if this turns out to be a mistake in revealing too much, as opposed to a mistake in what the title actually is.
We’ll learn more as the movies get closer to release, but for now, let’s just show our appreciation for Zoe Saldana for spoiling Kevin Feige’s big secret and allowing us to finally stop referring to the Infinity War sequel as Avengers: Untitled Avengers War Sequel.
And also, we can be sure that Jim Starlin will get a free ticket to both movies, which is the most important part of all of this.

Birds Of Prey Comic Will Expand Roster To Include Poison Ivy And Catwoman
As reported from the DC Universe Rebirth panel at C2E2, by our own Jeffrey Herron, Julie and Shawna Bensons gave us the gen on upcoming issues of Birds Of Prey, the comic that teams up Huntress, Black Canary, Batgirl and more, egged on by DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio to spoil as much as possible to get fan approval.
And certainly more. In a move that should please one long time Bleeding Cool reader at least, that will now include Poison Ivy and Catwoman.
Oh and the Calculator will be along too…

Nintendo Reportedly Working On A SNES Mini
Out of the rumor mill and into the speculation machine, am I right? After what was considered to be a business faux pas last week by canceling the NES Classic Edition and suspending the Famicom Mini, Nintendo is apparently hard at work on developing a mini version of the SNES for the holidays.
The news was broken this morning by Eurogamer, who said that sources close to the company revealed to them that the SNES was in production and slated for a holiday release in 2017, and it alludes that the cancellation of the NES Classic Edition was to put those resources into the SNES version, which will probably be the same plug-and-play system as the last one. No details yet over which games will be included or how many at this time, but if it’s like the last one, you can assume it will be a combination of games made by Nintendo and third-party classic. Here’s hoping for Earthbound, Secret Of Mana, Final Fantasy III and Street Fighter II to be added to that list. What do you think about this? Was it wise to cancel one to work on another?
Brie Larson’s “Captain Marvel” Costume Description Surfaces
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe gears up for the release of next month’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, the real question is “when will we see Captain Marvel?”
Announced at 2016’s Marvel panel at San Diego Comic Con, Oscar winning actress Brie Larson will be donning the mantle of Captain Carol Danvers, other wise known as Captain Marvel. Larson had long been rumored to be the frontrunner for the role, beating out other fan favorite casting choices like Vikings star Katheryn Winnick, Battlestar Galactica‘s Katee Sackhoff, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt.
Today, Vanity Fair and Nerdist ran pieces that contain detailed descriptions of the costume we’ll most likely see when Captain Marvel DOES hit screens. Nerdist, who attended a Marvel “open house”, went on to describe the images they saw:
The first two pieces of concept art featured Brie Larson in her costume, which appears to draw heavy inspiration from her classic comics suit. Though the design kept Captain Marvel’s signature eight-pointed star emblem square on the chest, its look and feel were more akin to Ant Man’s suit than Iron Man’s. Like a form-fitting armor, her suit is less spandex and more military grade, covering her whole body. Her iconic sash is more of a utility belt, favoring function over form. In the concept art she stands tall, staring off into the distance, looking hopeful but tough.
The third image showed her fighting off a something in a giant metal suit with a helmet; the creature looked almost like the Kree sentries. Between her hands, glowing red energy–a.k.a. Captain Marvel’s energy projection and absorption powers. According to screenwriter Nicole Perlman, Carol Danvers’ backstory is going to be different than the one we know from the comics, but if this concept art is to believed, the Kree are still going to make an appearance one way or another.
That sounds pretty damn promising.
Marvel Studios visual development supervisor/concept artist Andy Park said “her look is still evolving”. The film as of yet doesn’t have a director attached, or a script for her solo film. IGN reports the Marvel reps were “quick to note that these designs were early stages and that the look could be overhauled once a director is hired. There is no actual suit yet for Brie Larson to try on, but they said they have shown her the concept art via computer and she was super-psyched.”
Brie sure seems excited, posting this image on her instagram, serious research and development you know:
Captain Marvel is currently slated for March 9th 2019 release date.
Is Manu Bennett Trolling Arrow Fans… Or Has This Just Gotten Awkward?
When word came out yesterday that Manu Bennett was going to be reprising his role as Slade Wilson / Deathstroke for the Arrow season finale, I mentioned that I was a bit surprised because Bennett appeared to be displeased with the writer’s of the show after the way Deathstroke was written the last time he was on there. Bennett has not returned to play the role since, though the masked character did return for the alien created world episode during the crossover.
A second reason I was surprised is that Bennett is currently in Auckland filming the second season of the Shannara Chronicles.
But Stephen Amell posted a welcome back to Bennett and executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed the return…. so why is Bennett making these tweets?
For the record – I’m not going back for Arrow! #assumptionisthemotherofall…
— Manu (@manubennett) April 10, 2017
Enough b.s about d.s!!! FACT: Deathstroke #Arrow are currently filming in Vancouver IS NOT ME. I am in Auckland filming #shannarachronicles pic.twitter.com/kkVBOdXlSL
— Manu (@manubennett) April 11, 2017
How can this be? Was there a falling out after the announcement? Did Arrow producers plan to fool us into thinking that it’s Bennett?
My guess is that Bennett is telling the truth. That is not him in the pictures and he is not going back for Arrow. But that is not saying he won’t appear in the episode. Since Deathstroke is covered with a helmet, it’s easy to use a stunt man in his place than having the actor on set all that time. As for the scenes where Bennett would have his helmet off, the production could go to him in Auckland… or they could use a local film crew to shoot Bennett’s coverage while filming the rest in Vancouver and putting them together.
I seriously doubt that Amell and Guggenheim would announce Bennett’s return if it wasn’t official. I think this is a case of Bennett having fun with his fans. Or at least one can hope.

Attack on Titan Season 2 Will Have Just 12 Episodes

While the long wait for the return of “Attack on Titan” is nearly over, it comes with some disappointing news: The second season will feature just 12 episodes, less than half the number in the first.
The information arrives courtesy of the anime’s offical Twitter account, which revealed the Season Two will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in two volumes, each containing six episodes. Some fans responded with dissatisfaction to this revelation, with many tweets expressing frustration with having waited nearly four years for the second season, only to get fewer episodes.

Based on Hajime Isayama’s bestselling manga of the same name, “Attack on Titan” is set in a world where what remains of humanity lives in cities surrounded by enormous walls designed to keep out the gigantic, flesh-eating monsters known as Titans. The series follows Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman, their friend Armin Arlert and numerous other characters as they attempt to defend their world and learn more about the Titans. While the anime has been slow to produce episodes, there are already 21 volumes of the manga published, with more than 63 million copies in print worldwide. Kodansha USA publishes the series in North America.
The manga has grown incredibly popular since its debut in 2009, with the franchise now including video games, spinoff novels, a parody manga and anime, and a live-action film adaptation; there’s even an “Attack on Titan” wine.

Season Two picks up shortly after the first season, which saw Eren and his friends capturing a Titan that had been hiding within the city. The official synopsis reads:
Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to rest—a horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!
“Attack on Titan” Season Two began airing on Saturday. The series will be available for streaming on Funimation and Crunchyroll at the same time as it airs in Japan.

Deathstroke Is Returning To Arrow For The Finale
Arrow producers have been teasing that Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) would be teaming up with some shocking allies to take down Prometheus (Josh Segarra). A lot of people, including myself, wondered if that mean the return of Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett). Wilson was a major part of the flashback scenes on the first few season of Arrow as well as him becoming Deathstroke, the big bad for season 2. His return would make a lot of people happy that thought it wasn’t possible. Bennett was openly displeased with the way his character had been written in a guest spot in the third season. It seemed that there was split between him and the series that might not be patched.
But today, Amell posted the following on his Twitter account.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Welcome back @manubennett. pic.twitter.com/ITB7a7Tq6h
— Stephen Amell (@StephenAmell) April 10, 2017
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed Bennett’s return and it seems like we have more news to come. And he meant the fifth season finale.
BTW, the return of @manubennett is only the first of a few exciting announcements about Arrow’s sixth season finale…

Star Wars Fans Will Want To Watch Good Morning America Tomorrow, Mindless Speculation On Why
Well, maybe we won’t have to wait until Thursday or Friday for Star Wars news after all:
TOMORROW ON @GMA: @StarWars celebrates its 40th anniversary and we've got an announcement you won't want to miss! pic.twitter.com/gbQWV1a8Yt
— Good Morning America (@GMA) April 10, 2017
Hmm…what could this be? Looks like both Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill will both be on hand, and it has something to do with the Force. Could it be a simple toy announcement? Could it be a Last Jedi trailer? No, I do not think it is any of those. No, what I think it is going to be is an announcement that will excite some fans, and others will see it as a “That’s it?” type thing. I think they are going to announce that the forst 7 saga films: Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Force Awakens will all come back into theaters once a month until December leading up to the big premiere of The Last Jedi. And what better way to do that than to have Luke Skywalker and his daughter/not daughter (I still hope she isn’t) Rey make the big announcement. With Celebration this week and them dominating the news probably all this week and weekend, I really do not see them giving us a trailer before that. The only other possibility I see is that they are releasing the Original Trilogy on blu-ray, but the original , untouched versions. These are the types of announcements they could also make at the big 40th anniversary panel that opens Celebration Thursday morning as well. But, I think it will turn out to be the re-releases into theaters, as they have other fish to fry Thursday at the panel. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

Deadpool 2: Michael Shannon Reported Frontrunner to Play Cable
cyrus.mortazaviOh fuck me

The producers of the “Deadpool” sequel may be getting close to casting the role of Cable, and the No. 1 pick is “Man of Steel” alum Michael Shannon, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Shannon, who played General Zod in “Man of Steel” among numerous high-profile roles, isn’t the only actor under consideration by 20th Century Fox, per THR’s report, but he is “leading the pack;” ahead of “Stranger Things” actor David Harbour.
RELATED: “Deadpool 2” Screenwriters Tease Film’s Relationship To “X-Force”
The only complication could be one of scheduling as the Oscar nominee (for his roles in both “Revolutionary Road” and “Nocturnal Animals”) has just signed on for the indie “What They Had,” which shoots this spring. Earlier this month, Shannon was reported as previously up for the role, but no longer in the running due to scheduling conflicts.
Cable was co-created by Rob Liefeld and Louise Simonson, and first appeared in 1990’s “New Mutants” #87. A time-traveling mutant soldier from the future, the character was subsequently revealed to be the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, Jean Grey’s clone. He’s frequently paired with “Deadpool” in Marvel Comics, most notably for a 50-issue run of “Cable & Deadpool” between 2004 and 2008.

Directed by David Leitch (“John Wick”), the as-yet untitled “Deadpool” sequel will once again star Ryan Reynolds, joined (so far) by Zazie Beetz as Domino, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder and, presumably, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus; and is expected for release in 2018.

Darth Vader Almost Killed [SPOILER] in Rogue One
![Darth Vader Almost Killed [SPOILER] in Rogue One Darth Vader Almost Killed [SPOILER] in Rogue One](http://cbr.imgix.net/2017/02/Darth-Vader-Rogue-One.jpg?auto=format&cs=tinysrgb&q=20&w=800&h=400&fit=crop)
The finale of Gareth Edwards’ “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” saw Darth Vader cutting through a swath of Rebel Alliance soldiers with his lightsaber on his hunt for the stolen Death Star plans. The film ends with a shot of a young Princess Leia about to send two droids off with said plans, but an early script treatment imagined a much darker conclusion.
Entertainment Weekly recently sat down with Garry Whitta, one of the earliest screenwriters for “Rogue One.” Whitta’s script would eventually go on to be revised by Chris Weitz and later Tony Gilroy, but the early draft imagined a conclusion in which the film’s primary antagonist Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) was slain by Darth Vader himself.
RELATED: Rogue One’s Edwards On Directing Vader: ‘No One Tells Darth What To Do’
The two characters share an uneasy alliance in the film. While both are members of the Galactic Empire, advancement through the Imperial ranks has always been fueled by subversion. It’s clear Krennic, cunning as he may be, is always getting the short end of the stick in “Rogue One.” Wilhuff Tarkin steals credit for all the work he’s done on the Death Star, and — at one point — Vader Force-chokes him. Though he was left to die on Scarif in the theatrical cut of the film, Whitta’s version would have seen Krennic survive the un-survivable, only to be thrust into Vader’s vengeful clutches.
“He survived the blast and they pulled him up and brought him to the Star Destroyer to report to Vader,” Whitta recalled. “He’s all beat up, his cape’s all torn up and stuff, and he thinks he has survived.”
RELATED: Rogue One Director Reveals Vader’s ‘Walk of Death’ Was a Late Addition
Unfortunately for Krennic, things are not always as they seem in the Galactic Empire. The Director of Advanced Weapons Research would have been Force-choked by Darth Vader for a second time, though this time for good. The film would have ended with Krennic’s realization that he had been betrayed as he choked to death.
“Vader kills him for his failure,” Whitta concluded.
In the end, the finale just didn’t work. Aside from the fact that Vader murdering a member of his own rank is supremely dark, especially for a “Star Wars” movie, there’s also a matter of how Krennic was able to survive a blast from his own planet-annihilating creation. According to Whitta, it was “a bit of a reach,” and that’s why it isn’t in the final cut of the film.
Directed by Gareth Edwards from a script by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker and arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD April 4.

Into The Badlands’ Daniel Wu On The Response To Iron Fist
In the critics against Marvel’s Iron Fist, the AMC series Into The Badlands was often mentioned as how the fights should have been done. One of the stars of the series, Daniel Wu, was asked about their Netflix competition in an interview with Screen Anarchy.
Wu was asked his thoughts on the comparisons between the two series.
At first I was nervous about the competition. But now I kind of feel bad for them, because they are getting slammed so hard. It’s one thing to be bad or whatever about the martial arts, it is still something that a lot of people put a lot of effort into, so to get slammed like that – I’ve definitely worked on projects where I’ve been on that end of the stick before and so it kind of sucks. I’m happy for us but at the same time kind of feel bad for them, but [simultaneously] it’s like if you’re going to do a martial arts show, then you’ve got to step the fuck up.
He also shared his thoughts on the outcry against casting Finn Jones in the role and how many people thought it should’ve gone to an Asian-American:
I think that’s people going a little too precocious on that because originally the character was written white – it wasn’t like it was a whitewashing thing. It’s not like you are talking about a “Ghost in the Shell issue,” right? And I still don’t actually buy the Ghost in the Shell whitewashing issue either, and I certainly don’t buy into the cultural appropriation bullshit because that’s saying [for Iron Fist] that “only Asians are allowed to do martial arts” then that means only black people can play basketball and rap? That means Jeremy Lin shouldn’t be playing basketball? And Eminem shouldn’t be rapping? That’s bullshit, you know. So I know Asian Americans are angry, but they should calm down and choose the correct fight in that case – I agree that Marvel missed the chance of doing something interesting and casting against the race – they could have done that – and that would have given them some credit, but they didn’t, so what are you going to do about it? I think the important thing is that everyone learned a lesson from that – including people that weren’t involved, so I think we just need to move forward, that’s all.
Into the Badlands season 2 is airing on AMC. Marvel’s Iron Fist is available on Netflix.
Lauren Looks Back: The Super Nintendo
1991 was a magical year. Batman Returns was in theaters, cartoons were still good and whatever the hell else was going on in 1991. I don’t really remember, I was only 6. But in 1991, Nintendo gave the world one of the greatest systems ever; The Super Nintendo.

In Japan popularity for the original Famicom (Nintendo) had fallen due to the P.C. Engine gaining popularity, so in November of 1990, after being in development for two years, Nintendo released the Super Famicom, which was a hit overnight. The console sold out within hours. The console is centered around a 3.58 MHz Rico CPU, which Rico had made for the Super Famicom. While the chip wasn’t as fast as what was in the Sega Genesis, designer Masayuki Uemura created the console for visual and audio performance. Uemura was smart in his design for the Super
Famicom, as it looked similar to the original Famicom but with some enhancements. The controller keeps the familiar cross D pad, but did add extra buttons. But it feels similar to the original Famicom controller, making it easier for consumers to switch over.
The Super Famicom was redesigned for the American market by Lance Barr, and released in September of 1991. The console was a hit, despite being slightly more expensive than the Genesis which had been out for some time. But that clearly didn’t stop people from picking it up. The first games to be available for both the Japanese and American release were Super Mario World and F Zero, but in America we also had Pilotwings, SimCity, and Gradius III were also launch titles.
The launch of the Super Nintendo in America also heightened the console wars of the 1990’s. The rivalry between Sega and Nintendo was fascinating and real, with Sega boasting that they had games for mature audiences. The slogan “Genesis Can What Nintendon’t” was catchy and somewhat true. But then Nintendo released Street Fighter II for their home console, leveling the playing field. It’s hard to say who won the war at the time. In the long run Nintendo obviously won (and they even absorbed many Sega games), but at the time they were excellent rivals.
The Super Nintendo is one of the greatest consoles ever. By the time Nintendo was getting ready to release the Nintendo 64, the SNES had sold over 20 million units in the US. It’s still to this day one of the most popular vintage consoles, as people are still making fan made games/roms for the console. While I personally prefer the Super Famicom (I like their game selection more), I still enjoy the shit out of my SNES.
Alias Investigations Is Back In Business: ‘Jessica Jones’ Season Two Begins Production

Back in May Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter told Digital Spy that she was going to be shooting The Defenders and Jessica Jones season two back to back. Since The Defenders wrapped filming on March 19th it’s not surprising that according to The MCU Exchange the second season of the award winning Netflix series has started filming. At the moment we don’t know much about the second season of the series aside from that it will feature all female directors.
At the moment we also don’t have a release date for season two but judging by what we know is in production we can make some educated guesses. The Defenders has wrapped filming and currently has a release date of “summer 2017” with guesses being either June or July that the eight part series will drop.
The Punisher is currently filming and has a release date of 2017 so we can assume that the series will likely be in the late fall. If we had to guess perhaps October or November.
Jessica Jones has just started production so it’s likely that it will be early 2018 with an educated guess of March. While it hasn’t been announced yet.
Daredevil season three is likely going to be the next series they work on, we’ll likely have confirmation of that during Comic-Con International in July, with a likely release date of fall 2018 if Marvel/Netflix continues with their “two series a year” plan. (Note: The Defenders is a mini series which is why this plan is likely still in play despite us technically getting three series in 2017).
Luke Cage is also due for a second season at some point while the fate of more seasons of Iron Fist is currently up in the air.

Zack Snyder Mocks, But Doesn’t Deny, Rumors That Justice League Will Be 170 Minutes Long
cyrus.mortazaviCan't wait to skip this

Over the past week, a rumor so flimsy even Bleeding Cool hasn’t bothered to try to squeeze some clicks out of it (until now) has been floating around the bowl of the 24 hour entertainment news cycle like a stubborn turd that just won’t go down the drain no matter how many times you flush. The rumor claims that Zack Snyder’s Justice League will have a 170 minute runtime, twenty minutes longer than the already-too-long Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The rumor even led movie info site IMDB to update its listing for the film to claim the movie’s runtime will be 170 minutes.
But wait! Employing advanced counter-rumor technology, sandwich-themed Hollywood gossip blog The Wrap claimed to have their own anonymous source that said the movie’s runtime hasn’t been finalized yet, and that the original rumor was untrue. This anti-rumor led to an entirely new wave of articles reposting it on every entertainment news site. Now, in what has turned out to be a seemingly endless bounty of click-generating story twists, Zack Snyder himself has addressed the rumor on Twitter:
@thejonberg @thejonberg Forgot to tell you that I screened the first cut of JL for IMDB. Thought that was standard WB procedure. No?
— Zack Snyder (@ZackSnyder) March 31, 2017
On it’s surface, Snyder’s mockery of the rumor that Justice League will be 170 minutes long would seem to put the rumor to rest once and for all. However, upon closer inspection, it’s clear that Snyder never actually denies rumored length of the film. All he says for sure is that IMDB hasn’t seen the film personally. Therefore, we can only assume that Snyder was purposely avoiding making a statement about the length of the film, which means it probably actually will be 170 minutes after all!
Looks like this bad boy still has some life left in it. We’ll keep monitoring the situation and update you if anything changes, because we’ve honestly got nothing better to do.

Next X-Men Film Isn’t Called Supernova, But Is Still Likely About Dark Phoenix

Since the working title “Supernova” first cropped up in January, it’s been widely assumed Fox’s next X-Men film will revisit the seminal Marvel Comics storyline “The Dark Phoenix Saga,” and franchise producer Simon Kinberg has done little to discourage that notion. However, it turns out, perhaps unsurprisingly, that the film isn’t actually called “X-Men: Supernova” — but it’s looking more and more to be a Dark Phoenix story.
RELATED: Future X-Men Films Wont Focus on Xavier/Magneto Dynamic
While promoting “Logan,” Kinberg explained to Slash Film that “Supernova” was merely a code name, which producers have since abandoned in favor of a new one.
“One of the things we do when we make these X-Men movies, to be totally candid, is — any of these movies, it’s on ‘Star Wars,’ too — is you come up with fake names to throw people off the scent,” he said, “and when you’re out making the movie, the signs that show you where the locations are say ‘Nova,’ or whatever the fake title is, and people figure it out, and I don’t even know why we do it anymore.”
Kinberg, who has insisted it’s “premature” to say he’ll direct the film, declined to directly address rumors of a Dark Phoenix storyline, and instead circled back around to the mistakes of 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand,” which used Jean Grey’s arc as a subplot.
“Well, I can’t comment on what we’re doing with this next ‘X-Men’ movie,” he said, “but I think a way to talk about it potentially, is to talk about ‘X-Men: The Last Stand,’ and then that being a Dark Phoenix movie that we didn’t get quite right. I think of maybe a few mistakes we made in that movie — and every movie has mistakes — but the main mistake we made in that movie was taking the Dark Phoenix story, which is such a vast and profound saga, and making it the subplot of the movie as opposed to the main plot of the movie. I think if we were to make a Dark Phoenix movie in the future, it would be a Dark Phoenix movie about her struggle, and really should be the A plot and the primary of the movie.”

So, yeah, you’d probably be safe to go with “Dark Phoenix Saga” is your very nerdy office betting pool.
But if you require additional evidence, “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner confirmed last month that she’ll reprise her “X-Men: Apocalypse” role as Jean Grey in the film.
Kinberg added that he and fellow producer Hutch Parker have discussed that the film’s story — whatever it may be about — “would be something bold and radical and expand the universe in the same way that ‘Logan’ feels bold and radical and certainly ‘Deadpool’ does as well.”
The film is expected to begin production in May in Montreal.

Marvel’s Inhumans Announces Full Cast

The Inhuman royal family is complete. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has finished casting their upcoming “Inhumans” series, with Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Mike Moh as Triton, Sonya Balmores as Auran and Ellen Woglom in an as-yet-unannounced role.
RELATED: Inhumans’ Black Bolt: Get to Know Marvel’s Silent King
The report came complete with character descriptions, which are as follows:
- Crystal (Cornish): Crystal is Medusa’s sister and the youngest member of the royal family who has the ability to control the elements. Impetuous and independent she is also deeply devoted to her family.
- Gorgon (Ikwuakor): Gorgon is the cousin of Black Bolt and a member of the royal family who is the leader of Attilan’s military. With super strong legs, complete with hooves, he can generate destructive seismic waves with a single stomp. The ying to his cousin Karnak’s yang, Gorgon would rather fight than talk to solve his problems.
- Triton (Moh): Triton is Black Bolt’s cousin who is calm under pressure and supremely athletic. His gift is his fish — like the ability to live underwater.
- Auran (Balmores): Auran is head of the Royal Guards on Attilan, a capable and no-nonsense woman. She is fiercely loyal to the King of Attilan.
- Woglom’s character: The mystery character is smart, intense and focused — so focused that oftentimes social skills take a back seat. Her job at a private aerospace company is her life, second only to her passion for all things space and lunar. She’s primed to be swept up in an adventure.

The cast list also included Lockjaw, “Crystal’s 2,000-pound canine companion,” who has the ability to teleport.
These newcomers join a cast that includes Anson Mount (Black Bolt), Serinda Swan (Medusa), Karnak (Ken Leung) and “Game of Thrones’” Iwan Rheon (Maximus).
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Inhuman royal family has been a staple of Marvel Comics since 1965. Notably, Auran is an exception here; the head of Attilan’s Royal Guard, Auran debuted in Charles Soule, Pepe Larraz and Ryan Stegman’s “Inhuman” #7, which hit shelves in December 2014.

“Iron Fist” executive producer Scott Buck will act as showrunner on Marvel’s “Inhumans.” After debuting in IMAX theaters on or around September 1 and running for two weeks, “Inhumans” will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. “Inhumans” is also expected to air all eight episodes of its first season uninterrupted on the following Tuesdays. The first two episodes of “Inhumans” will air as one IMAX presentation, lasting approximately 80 minutes. The first two episodes of “Inhumans,” which will be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, will screen in 1,000 IMAX theaters across 74 countries. Additionally, select sequences from subsequent episodes of “Inhuamns” will also be shot using IMAX cameras.
Created in 1965 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Inhumans are a race of super-humans with “diverse and singularly unique powers,” as described in the official announcement. The group of heroes have recently seen a higher profile at Marvel on the comics page and on the small screen, as “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” has introduced the concept and included many new Inhumans in its cast.

Chris Evans Is Done With Playing Captain America After Avengers: Infinity War And Sequel, Unless He Isn’t

As Marvel Studios prepares to transition to Phase Four after its two upcoming Avengers films, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Untitled Infinity War Sequel, we could be looking at a barely recognizable Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Evans, who has played Captain America in the films, is currently filming both of those movies, which shoot back-to-back in Atlanta, and it seems that they could be his last turn as the star-spangled Avenger.
From a profile in Esquire Magazine via ComicBookMovie:
Settling in on the couch, he groans. Evans explains that he’s hurting all over because he just started his workout routine the day before to get in shape for the next two Captain America films. The movies will be shot back to back beginning in April. After that, no more red- white-and-blue costume for the thirty-five-year-old. He will have fulfilled his contract.
Evans’ exit comes at the same time Ben Affleck is rumored to want out of playing Batman, either before or after the now-delayed filming of The Batman. Unlike Ben Affleck, who has distanced himself from The Batman over many months with disparaging comments about its script, however, Evans seems to enjoy playing Captain America, even going so far as to punch Nazis in real life on Twitter.
So if Evans likes being Cap, why would he give it up?
Maybe, like Hugh Jackman, he just wants to eat cheeseburgers again.
Or perhaps the answer is he doesn’t want to. Unlike the comic book world, where stories are routinely leaked to Rich Johnston every time he goes to use the washroom in a local pub resulting in multiple Dan Slott Twitter outbursts each week, the movie industry is far better at managing their relationship with the press. Therefore, if Chris Evans’ looming contractual end is in the news, it’s probably because somebody wants it to be in the news.
Could it be Evans himself, looking to negotiate a new deal? He would make a nice addition that rumored Nick Fury solo movie featuring the Red Skull, now wouldn’t he?
Then again, this strategy could have unexpected results as well. What if Warner Bros, looking for a Batfleck replacement and seizing the opportunity, signs Chris Evans to be the new Bruce Wayne? That would be more shocking than learning Captain America has always secretly been an agent of Hydra, wouldn’t it?
Dungeons And Dragons 5E Gets A Digital Toolbox
If you’re like me when it comes to D&D, you probably ditched the paperwork involved with creating a character a while ago in favor of one of the apps you can get for smartphones. They aren’t official character sheets, but they’ve become a time saver that parses out all the information you need. Because let’s be honest, it can be trouble keeping track of just what does what in Dungeons & Dragons: 5th Edition sometimes. Well, Wizards Of The Coast liked that idea so much, they’ve decided to make one of their own!
This week, WotC announced a partnership with Curse (Gamepedia and MinecraftForum.net) to create “D&D Beyond,” a completely immersive and interactive system that works hand-in-hand with the current edition and rules of the game. This is the first time the company itself is offering such a tool, which you can see works with a browser, smartphone and tablet devices. The trailer for it looks impressive too as it eludes to the fact that you’ll get everything needed to run and manage a campaign, as well as character creation prior to and during a game. Included in the package will be information for rules, character building, digital character sheets, guides to races, classes, items, spells, and monsters.
It’ll be interesting to see how gamers integrate this system into their current gameplay, especially those who have gone almost completely tech with their systems including electronic game tables and auto-number generators for randomized dice rolls. It’s also unclear if you can play the game remotely with friends by connecting everyone up into a single campaign or if this is simply so everyone has their own copy of everything basic so they can manage their character and look up items as needed. I would love to see everything connected, though I’m sure there are some purists who would argue that you’re taking the spirit out of the game. We’ll see how it all shapes up during the beta before the app is released this summer.
The ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Original Anime Cast Will Voice The Live-Action Version For The Japanese Market
cyrus.mortazaviThat's pretty cool

With all the turmoil churning around Paramount Pictures’ upcoming release of the live-action remake of Ghost in the Shell, the studio seems to be continuing their efforts to build bridges with the fans of the original anime. The Japanese-language dub of the film will feature many of the same voice actors as had been part of the prior anime feature films. Hollywood has long all but ignored the quality or suitability of voice talent engaged in the creation of foreign-language dubs (such as with the famously bad Japanese dub of The Avengers).
The voice actors reprising their original roles will include Akio Otsuka as the voice of Batou (The Major’s second in command, played in the live action version by Pilou Asbæk), Koichi Yamadera will be voicing Togusa over Chin Han’s original, and Atsuko Tanaka will be dubbed over Sharlett Johansson’s role of The Major.
The backlash of casting Johansson in the role had only begun to subside when news that the character’s name had even been changed from the Japanese original of Motoko to Mira. Now it would seem that the studio is trying to help avoid the negative impact that other American films have when dubbed by poorly-cast voice actors for foreign markets, and also building another connection to the fans of the original.
Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic¹s advancements in cyber technology.
That New Star Wars Title Will Be A Darth Vader Ongoing By Charles Soule And Giuseppe Camuncoli

Back in February, Bleeding Cool told you to expect a new “main” book to be announced in both the X-Men and Star Wars franchises soon. Following a series of teasers all week, Marvel revealed yesterday that Charles Soule will be writing a very X-Force-y Astonishing X-Men book with an as-yet undisclosed team of artists. Today, they’ve revealed via media partner IGN that Soule will also be writing a Star Wars book, Darth Vader, with artist Giuseppe Camuncoli. The story will pick up right where the least offensive prequel film, Revenge of the Sith, leaves off, and Soule says it will be “Darth Vader: Year One.”
A grim and gritty, Frank Miller inspired Darth Vader book? Eh, why the hell not?
“He is just awakening to that moment and that realization. So he has shouted ‘No!’ in the way we see in the film, and then it picks up immediately after that point. So we see him adjusting to that. We see him learning to be more machine than man. We see him going through some really, really cool early moments of his early mythology and history,” Soule says in his interview on IGN. He goes on to say that the first arc will explore lightsaber mythology as Vader builds his iconic red weapon, and other known characters could make guest appearances, though Soule isn’t saying who besides Emperor Palpatine, obviously, and The Inquisitors from Star Wars: Rebels.
Darth Vader launches in June.

Jeff Lemire Quits Marvel
cyrus.mortazaviLemire was one of the mag draws of ECCC, so I'm guessing he's just moving to creator owned stuff full time.
You may have noticed that with each new round of Marvel solicits that Jeff Lemire is writing less and less for Marvel.
He went from writing a lot of stuff over the last two years, becoming exclusive with Marvel in April 2015, named lead writer on X-Men after Brian Bendis to… suddenly writing nothing as of May 2017.
IVX finishes soon, as does Thanos, he’s off Old Man Logan, off Moon Knight, left Extraordinary X-Men and there is nothing from Marvel to replace it.
Some thought he, like other Marvel A-List creators, may be working in advance on new work for the Make Mine Marvel not-a-relaunch later in the year.
ECCC gossip has it that he has quit Marvel completely. That his two-year exclusive deal may be coming to an end, and he’s not looking for it to be renewed. Joining the likes of Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Ed Brubaker, Rick Remender and more on the creator-owned bandwagon like his new Royal City comic – with a little work for hire on more generously paying projects, and that film option on Underwater Welder with Ryan Gosling also helping out the cashflow.
Robert Kirkman Spoiled A Major Walking Dead Season 7 Death At ECCC, Unless He Was Just Joking, Which He Was… Maybe
At his Q&A panel at Emerald City Comic Con, Robert Kirkman complained that bloggers try to take things he says and turn them into click bait articles, referencing this practice several times throughout the panel. Ordinary bloggers might be discouraged by Kirkman’s click bait shaming, but not us here at Bleeding Cool. In order to be shamed, that would have to be an emotion we’re capable of feeling. Have you ever looked at one of our stories based on a Frank Cho facebook post? Or anything Rich Johnston has ever written?
What we’re saying is, we accept your challenge, Kirkman.

During the panel, Kirkman was speaking about what he called the “filler” episodes between the season premieres and season finales of the Walking dead, when he noted that they serve a useful purpose. If the show doesn’t take time to build up characters like Eugene, Kirkman said, “then you wouldn’t be upset when we kill Eugene later this season.”
Realizing he had accidentally blurted out major spoilers on a live streamed comic con panel, Kirkman quickly backtracked.
“It means he’s definitely not gonna die!” Kirkman protested, looking nervous as the crowd gasped. “I’d never say that if he’s really gonna die.”
At one point, Kirkman “joked” that AMC probably had gunmen watching him, but we swear we saw a laser sight focused on him at one point during the panel.
Kirkman quickly moved on from his flub, but later, as the panel was ending, Kirkman let his guard down and spoiled Eugene’s upcoming death again. Asked, in the last question, which on-screen death was his favorite, Kirkman replied: “Oh I don’t know. Eugene.”

Kirkman rushed offstage immediately afterward, clearing realizing he had screwed up twice in the same panel.
Luckily, Bleeding Cool was there, watching, and waiting… to turn it into clickbait.
Ra’s al Ghul Is Coming To Gotham
Turns out that year or so of learning out to type the name Ra’s al Ghul (the a in al is always small) is not going to go to waster since the character is now longer an Arrow. Deadline is reporting that Alexander Siddig, who has appeared in so many genre shows it may be harder to find ones he hasn’t been on, will be bringing his talent to the Fox series Gotham. The Demon Head is expected to make his debut on the Batman prequel series shortly after it’s return from a winter hiatus. The head of the League of Shadows will appear in relation to Bruce Wayne’s continued search into the Court of Owls.
Ra’s al Ghul, a creation of Julius Schwartz, Denny O’Neill and Neal Adams in 1971, has been very popular in the last decade or so having appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins as played by Liam Neeson and then being the big bad for Arrow season 3 and popping up on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as played by Matt Nable.
Siddig is probably most recognized for his time as Dr. Julian Bashir on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but he has also appeared in other series like 24, Merlin, Primeval, Atlantis, Da Vinci’s Demons, Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders and even popped up on Family Guy.
‘TRON 3’ Is On The Cart In Monty Python Screaming “I’m Not Dead Yet”
TRON was very much a movie before its time so it shouldn’t be that surprising that its sequel TRON: Legacy was also before its time. The sequel came out in 2010 a few years before the nostalgia boom that has currently taken over Hollywood. Perhaps if it had waited a year or two to come out, then it wouldn’t have suffered a terrible fate. The movie didn’t exactly do terrible; on a budget of $170 million it grossed just over $400 million worldwide. However, the budgets of movies are often not what we think they are. A movie with a budget of $170 million should double the number for marketing putting the actual budget at $340 million. The movie didn’t bomb but it didn’t do the numbers to justify how expensive everything was in the end.
Collider recently had a screening of TRON: Legacy and brought in director Joseph Kosinski for a Q&A. In May of 2015, TRON 3 was pulled off of the schedule and Kosinski talked about the movie that might someday happen, and why it might not.
KOSINSKI: I guess I can say that TRON 3 is in cryogenic freeze. So, it’s there. It’s not dead. It’s alive, but it’s sitting there, waiting for the right time to move forward.
There has always been rumors of a script, and Kosinski went on to describe the plot he has in mind for the movie, and it sounds like it would be completely bonkers in the best possible way.
KOSINSKI: The movie was called, “TRON: Ascension”, I think that’s out there. I think we got the script to about 80%. We were in good shape. We were probably eight or nine months out, which is still a good amount of distance from being ready to shoot it, but I think the script was in good shape. What I’m excited about is the concept, which is an invasion movie from inside the machine coming out as opposed to one we’ve usually seen. So we hinted at that at the end of Legacy with Quorra coming out, but the idea for Ascension was a movie that was, the first act was in the real world, the second act was in the world of TRON, or multiple worlds of TRON, and the third act was totally in the real world. And I think that really opens up, blows open the concept of TRON in a way that would be thrilling to see on screen. But there’s also a really interesting character study in Quorra and a “Stranger in a Strange Land,” trying to figure out where she belongs having lived in the real world for a few years, and where does she fit in.
Kosinski also went on to explain how a character formed in the grid would be different from a real person.

KOSINSKI: I don’t see them having superpowers. I don’t see them being able to shoot lasers from their eyes or do what I would consider to be a superhero-type movie. But in her DNA itself, her being the first digital-human hybrid, there’s something in her being that allows objects from inside the Grid to exist in the real world and makes them permanent, so that was the idea. So I think the idea is strong, it’s just a matter of the right time and the right place and the stars aligning as they have to do for movies.
The stars do have to align, and the Disney of 2010 is very different from the Disney of 2017. This is something Kosinski does seem to understand even if it is a little depressing about the modern state of filmmaking. Disney isn’t just making “movies” as they are “managing brands”.
KOSINSKI: I mean, you have to remember that when we made TRON: Legacy, Disney did not own Marvel. Disney did not own Lucasfilm…they own everything now. But this was before they owned everything, so from the studio point of view, they have a certain number of slots and a certain amount of money to make movies and if you can make a Star Wars spinoff or another Marvel movie, which are all doing incredibly well, a TRON movie, even though I think it would do very well, the question is: Would it do as well as one of those? That is more the reason we haven’t seen another TRON is that Disney stock is flushed with really successful properties right now. But that doesn’t mean we won’t see one at one point.
For Disney, it isn’t just about making a successful movie but creating a brand that can go across multiple mediums. For something to do well it doesn’t just have to sell tickets, but it needs to move merchandise and create an entire world that people can build off of. The fans of the original movie are older adults trying to pass it along to their kids, but this isn’t a series that has aged well. While TRON is still great, it just doesn’t have the same appeal it did when it came out over thirty years ago. The sequel tried to pull more people in, but it wasn’t able to cross the age boundaries into toys and more that Disney needs out of a brand now.
A movie about the digital world doesn’t have to be limited to a movie, which is something Kosinski is open to.

KOSINSKI: It definitely doesn’t have to be on a movie screen. I don’t know if you saw the TRON ride, which opened in Shanghai and was amazing…I think the TRON franchise is alive in rides and I think there’s still interest in exploring other things like VR, but as far as the TV show, I don’t know, I think that would be tough. As you saw on screen, so much of the world has to be created digitally. You can’t just go and film a TRON movie, or at least the TRON side of it, so I don’t know. I would never say never. There’s possibly a version of that, but that’s up to Disney.
As technology continues to advance at a pace the human brain frankly isn’t capable of keeping up with movies like TRON could become cheaper to make. As the nostalgia push of modern Hollywood continues to take over and Disney decides that they need All Of The Money instead of Some Of The Money perhaps we will see some version of TRON 3 in the future.

Rob Liefeld Has Career Advice For Russell Crowe: Try To Score Cable Role In Deadpool Sequel

When it comes to advice for finding Hollywood success, you could do worse than taking it from superstar comics artist Sir Robert Liefeld. Following the runaway success of Deadpool, the film based on the character created by Liefeld with a minor assist from Marvel janitor Fabian Nicieza, Liefeld has recently cut a deal to bring his entire Extreme Comics universe to the big screen in an effort headed up by Akiva Goldsman. What we’re trying to say is, when you’re offered a free Liefeld Lottery ticket, you don’t turn that down.
Actor Russell Crowe knows what we’re talking about, because when Liefeld advised him to try out for the part of Cable in the upcoming Deadpool sequel…
@russellcrowe you should read for #Cable in Deadpool and X-Force. Just sayin…
— robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
…Crowe was more than willing to listen, even if he seemed a little put off by the idea that he should actually try out for a part:
@russellcrowe huge fan sir. Poorly worded. Apologies.
— robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
Still, he did seem interested, and he’d be a fool not to.
@russellcrowe @VancityReynolds forgive me sir. It's an absolutely irresistible notion. pic.twitter.com/Cw3Yq2grjX
— robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
And even Liefeld came away with a lesson, to lay off the Jolt Cola a little bit before hopping on Twitter:
Note to self, don't caffeine tweet @russellcrowe before nodding off to sleep.
— robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
On the contrary, we support highly caffeinated Rob Liefeld tweets on a regular basis. They make for great article fodder.

cyrus.mortazaviI need this and when you need something, that is a responsibility.
This weekend at New York Toy Fair, Hasbro will be revealing a brand new Transformers Titans Return Titans Class figure, and it is a BIG one. back in 2015, fans were asked to vote on who they wanted to see in the Titans class vehicle line, and they overwhelmingly choose Trypticon. What a sight to behold this thing is. Trypticon is the biggest Decepticon ever made, and the biggest in the line for 2017. Three transformations accompany him: T-Rex, spaceship, and city. Yes, city. He can also “eat” Titan Master Class figures, with his stomach opening to remove them. Seriously guys and gals, this thing is huge. Netflix Quietly Announces Castlevania Series For 2017
cyrus.mortazaviPer Kelly Sue deConnick, Warren Ellis is part of the writers room for this project.

Without any fanfare, Netflix has announced a Castlevania series. Actually, “announced” is a strong word; sitting in the middle of a press release listing the streaming content company’s planned original programming for 2017 was a surprising reveal: “Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 Coming to Netflix in 2017.”
The listing of the show was spotted by io9, and it is likely the previously rumored animated series by Adi Shankhar. Shankhar is teaming up with Frederator (of “Adventure Time” and “Bravest Warriors” fame) to make what he called a “super violent” series.
Shankhar has been hinting at this series for some time now, though nothing has been officially confirmed. Putting two and two together, one can surmise that the series has finally found a home with Netflix, a company that has been known to scoop up all manner of intellectual property.
No stranger to super violence, Shankhar was one of the minds behind “Dredd,” the critically acclaimed Judge Dredd movie starring Karl Urban, which only made a small splash in the box office, but has since been elevated to cult status. Shankhar was also behind “Power/Rangers” the ludicrously over-the-top gritty (and unauthorized) sequel to “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers,” which starred none other than James Van Der Beek and Katee Sackhoff. That short film was full of cartoonish violence, and oozed with style. If this is indeed the same “Castlevania” series, the people involved all but guarantee a unique brand of insanity.
“Castlevania” is most famous as a video game franchise. The series follows various members of the Belmont family, as they partake in the family tradition of killing vampires, specifically the evil Lord Alucard. For those unfamiliar with the series, it’s up to you to look into what the antagonist’s name spells when you write it backwards.
