Clean 5-Speed: 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan Westfalia Weekender
This 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan Westfalia Weekender looks clean, well-kept and attractive in white over BBS snowflakes, the seller and claimed second owner adding that it runs excellently and benefits from new tags, a clean title and smog certificate. We didn’t even know these were offered with 5-speed manuals Stateside, and really like the idea of a Westy camper with modern-ish safety, convenience and reliability. Find it here on Craigslist in San Jose, California for $14,500.

VW was on a styling roll in the late 80’s and early 90’s, and we’ve always found these to be very good-looking vans, their simple, form-follows-function shape and clean, rational detailing typifying all that used to be good about German design. The BBS’s are a perfect match, and red VW logo center caps are a nice touch.

The gray cloth interior seems to be just as clean, and though not shown in the down position, the rear triple bench should slide forward to join with the padded rear parcel shelf in order to make a good-sized bed. Rear-facing captains chairs, a fold-down table and of course the pop-top add to its versatility, though we gather Weekender spec means no stove, sink or other accessories standard fit to full-on campers. Bring a foldaway propane stove, a big cooler and a couple of wash bins instead.

Motivation comes from a 2.5 liter five cylinder, and though underpowered by conventional minivan standards, 110 HP must have seemed like a revelation to VW fans upgrading from old air-cooled, RWD Type 2 Westys. The 5-speed should make progress a bit less stressful and quite a bit more fun as well, and in lieu of unavailable engine shots we’ve included this photo of the top popped.

A true MPV, you could drive it to work Monday through Friday and then cruise to VW meets or out to the campsite curing the weekend. Just don’t lower it and don’t tint it, please.

As Gallup notes, West Virginians are most likely to report near-daily use of drugs or medications that alter their mood or help them relax, followed by residents of Rhode Island. Looks like the new Guitar Hero will be unveiled April 14
Reports of Activision's new Guitar Hero appear to be accurate, based on an invite that Polygon received today. We received a press pass to the SoundDial festival, an event at which seemingly fictitious bands Broken Tide, Blackout Conspiracy, Our Pasts Collide and other bands will be playing.
While our invitation didn't include details about the event's date or venue, other outlets have apparently received similar invites to a "new game reveal event" on April 14.
There's no official word from Activision yet that this is a Guitar Hero-related event, but the SoundDial festival and interactive music videos for that event have appeared on various casting websites. One dancer lists a "SoundDial interactive music video shoot" on her résumé,...

Alienware demonstrates its powerful Graphics Amplifier

External graphics amplifier drops to $174.99
Alienware recently refreshed its Alienware 13 notebook, with a fresh Geforce GTX 960M graphics core, making it a bit more attractive for gamers. The previous version used Geforce GTX 860M graphics, which is being replaced by a faster GTX 960M Maxwell GPU.
The company also showed some performance figures for the optional Graphics Amplifier. External notebook graphics have been in works by Nvidia since 2010, and ATI (now AMD) introduced Lasso codenamed external notebook graphics in 2008 too.
Years later, Alienware introduced its own version that uses both Nvidia and AMD graphics cards, called Graphics Amplifier. This is a custom made, external graphics card that will transform your Alienware 13, 15 or 17 R2 to a gaming powerhouse.
The external graphics will fit most of the latest Nvidia Geforce GTX or Radeon R9, cards including PNY XLR8 Geforce GTX 960 with 2GB GDDR5, VisionTek Radeon R9 285 with 2GB GDDR5, PNY XLR8 Geforce GTX 970 with 4GB GDDR5, PNY XLR8 Geforce GTX 980 with 4GB GDDR5, VisionTek Radeon HD R9 290 with 4GB GDDR5 or VisionTek Radeon HD R9 290X with 4GB GDDR5.
These are the cards that the company offers at its website, but you are free to buy and add your own graphics card. This week the company dropped the price of the Graphics Amplifier from the original $299.99 to $174.99, making it much more attractive.
Amazing performance increase for $174.99 + Desktop GPU price
The company recently tested Alienware Graphics Amplifier on the Metra 2033 Redux game and Alienware 15 notebook and showed an amazing performance increase.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvhVxiGxkYI
The Alienware 15 with Intel i7-4710HQ, Nvidia GTX980M, 16GB DDR3, SSD + HDD combo already scores high at 1080p, and the game would score on average between 35 and 40 FPS. However, once they paired the Alienware 15 with the Alienware Graphics Amplifier and desktop GTX 980 the average FPS increased to an average or 55 to 60+ FPS which is a clear performance leap for mobile gamers. You can check the video at the YouTube link down below for more details.

Alienware also shared some slides from there internal testing where you can see 40 to 120 percent performance increases in 3Dmark 11 or Tomb Raider game on various Alienware notebooks including 13, 14, 15 and 17-inch models. The best part is that the Graphics Amplifier can be upgraded with the next generation graphics cards as long as they come with PCIe interface and fit the power profile.
