I’ve installed the second 8MB FLASH memory on my prototype board and fixed the final hardware issues involved with running 4MB games, so this is now really hardware complete. Here’s a quick demo of running Metal Slug 2, one of the few 4MB games on the NeoGeo Pocket.

Here's a blast from the past: Rebellion is remastering Rogue Trooper.
Rogue Trooper is a 2006 third-person shooter based on the 2000 AD comic strip of the same name. It never set the world on fire back on PS2, Xbox and PC, but achieved a cult status. Dan Whitehead penned a Rogue Trooper retrospective for Eurogamer back in 2012, calling it "a solid, unpretentious action game with thoughtfully executed features, all in faithful service of a beloved character".
The remastered version is called Rogue Trooper Redux, which is set for release on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. It's being developed by UK studio TickTock Games, making it the first 2000 AD game developed outside of Rebellion. The teaser video is below.
Nintendo Switch's Pro Controller can connect to your PC, early adopters have found.
The pad doesn't officially launch until Friday, alongside Switch itself, but players with early access have been connecting them up to their PC rigs.
You can't connect the Pro Controller via its USB-C connection - just via Bluetooth. But once detected by your PC the process of installing the pad is pretty seamless.
The Nintendo 64 came out in Europe on this day 20 years ago.

An diesem Freitag erscheint mit der Switch die neue Spielekonsole des japanischen Traditionsunternehmens Nintendo weltweit im Handel. Allzu üppig fällt das Spiele-Lineup für die Switch zum Starttag bekanntlich nicht aus. Heute hat Nintendo allerdings gut 60 Spiele unabhängiger Entwicklerstudios angekündigt, die allesamt noch in diesem Jahr erscheinen sollen.

Like Fallen London, Sunless Sea is a literary RPG, but this one takes you from the narrow, busy streets of London to the middle of a sunless sea where loneliness, madness, cannibalism, and frequent death awaits us all. In terms of gameplay, you have to manage your resources - food, fuel, etc - but also the crew's sanity. There are also roguelike elements to it in the form of semi-randomized maps and some of your dying captain's traits moving to the next captain.
When Fallen London launched, it was hindered by amazingly-long load times and frequent syncing issues that, I'm sure, drove many players away. Those issues have been fixed now, but it took numerous updates for that to happen. Sunless Sea is being ported by BlitWorks, who have worked on the ports of Don't Starve, Bastion, and Invisible, Inc, so I'm hoping the game will launch with the app it deserves. It will also contain all the additional content the game has received since it launched minus the recent Zubmariner expansion. Unlike Fallen London, the game will be iPad only (at least for now) and will require at least an iPad Air or Pro to play.

It makes perfect sense!
According to a release from the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA) today, the Australian game development industry has generated AUD$2.958 billion in 2016, a four percent increase over 2015.
This number comes from $1.065b in retail sales, and $1.893b in digital and mobile sales.
Digital sales increased in Australia during 2016 by 19 percent compared to the previous year, according to research commissioned by the IGEA from analyst firm Telsyte. Mobile games generated the most digital revenue, raking in $988 million. The largest field of growth came from downloads (full games and expansions/DLC), which were up 26 percent.
Retail sales have decreased a whopping 16 percent compared to 2015, across both software and hardware, according to market data from NPD Australia. Despite this, the increase in overall revenue paints a fairly clear picture that consumers are becoming increasingly comfortable with digital purchase as time goes on.
"Consumers have once again shown they are receptive to the latest technologies, with virtual and augmented reality games making the move into living rooms and onto mobile devices," said IGEA CEO Ron Curry in the release."
"Australian consumers are increasingly comfortable buying games and DLC via digital storefonts," said Telsyte's managing director Foad Fadaghi, "with this trend set to continue as more devices get connected via high speed mobile and fixed networks."
