Super Mario Run hat die internen Umsatz-Erwartungen nicht erfüllt, bestätigte Tatsumi Kimishima (Präsident von Nintendo) gegenüber Nikkei Asian Review via GameSpot. Konkreter wurde er hingegen nicht. Allerdings stellte er klar, dass Pay-to-play-Spiele in Abgrenzung zu Free-to-play-Titeln auf mobilen Plattformen (iOS und Android) weiterhin eine wichtige Rolle bei Nintendo spielen werden. Fire Emblem Heroes hingegen (Free-to-play) wird als großer Erfolg bezeichnet. Trotzdem meinte ein Sprecher des Unternehmens, dass der Free-to-play-Titel eine Ausnahme (in Bezug auf das Geschäftsmodell) sei und sie eher das Super-Mario-Run-Modell vorziehen würden.
Super Mario Run kostet 9,99 Euro und ist mittlerweile auch für Android-Geräte verfügbar. Vier Levels können vorab (kostenlos) ausprobiert werden. Der Mario-Ableger wurde über 78 Millionen Mal runtergeladen (Stand: Ende Januar 2017). Mehr als fünf Prozent der Nutzer entschieden sich nach dem Download dafür, die Vollversion zu kaufen (ungefähr vier Millionen Verkäufe).
In der Nacht vom 28. auf 29. März wird das bisherige Antennenfernsehen DVB-T abgeschaltet, die bisherigen Empfänger werden Elektroschrott. Das Ablöseformat ist in Deutschland über die Antenne alternativlos: DVB-T2 HD. Unser aktualisierte Überblick:
The retailer's fourth-quarter profits in 2016 had dipped by 13.6% since those from the prior year, prompting its stock to plunge by 31%. These losses were made in sales of both new games and new consoles, which GameStop attributed to "aggressive console promotions by other retailers on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday," as well as "weak sales of certain AAA titles."
As a potential silver lining, GameStop also reported a 27.8% increase in its collectibles sales over the year, mostly thanks to strong sales of Pokemon merchandise and the success of affiliate brands such as the geek-culture merchandiser ThinkGeek and the AT&T technology retailer Spring Mobile. Accordingly, it plans to open roughly 35 new collectibles stores and 65 new technology stores.
With E3 2017 still a few months away, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has now spoken out to say that fans can expect Microsoft to dedicate more time to games during the presentation.
Writing on Twitter, Spencer said, "I want to give our games more time on stage at E3. I sometimes feel like we rush telling the story of our games at E3."
This is not to say that the briefing will be exclusively focused on software. It most certainly won't be, as Microsoft's Project Scorpio is coming out this year. However, Spencer's new comments do lend further credence to the suggestion that Microsoft may hold an event dedicated to Scorpio before E3.
Microsoft isn't the only platform-holder teasing its E3 2017 plans. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Fox News that Nintendo has "big" things in store for this year's show.
"E3 is always a big time for Nintendo," he said (via Nintendo Everything and NeoGAF). "We look at each E3 as a unique opportunity to tell our story. And we're gonna have a big E3 this year. We're going to be showcasing a variety of games."

While Fils-Aime shied away from offering specifics about Nintendo's plans, he said Nintendo will have Nintendo Switch and 3DS games on display.
"I'm not gonna tell you all of the various games and all of our little secrets for E3, but I can tell you that E3 is going to be a major opportunity for us to showcase not only Nintendo Switch, but also content coming to Nintendo 3DS," he said.
Fils-Aime also mentioned the fact that E3 2017, for the first time in the show's history, is open to the public, though he did not provide any specifics on how Nintendo's plans might be tailored to that.
Also in the interview, Fils-Aime talked about how it's not easy to predict where the video game industry is going.
"I think anyone who says they know where this industry is going is really not knowledgeable about the industry, given that at its heart, it's all about innovation and creativity," he said.
It's been a few years since Nintendo has held a traditional E3 briefing, instead opting for offsite Nintendo Direct presentations, as well as Nintendo Treehouse livestreams.

Blizzard Entertainment hat soeben StarCraft Remastered angekündigt. Damit haben sich die Gerüchte bestätigt. Die überarbeitete Version des Echtzeit-Strategie-Klassikers soll im Sommer für PC und Mac erscheinen. Der Preis und weitere Informationen sollen später bekanntgegeben werden.
Einheiten, Porträts, Gebäude und Terrains (Karten) wurden überarbeitet und die Soundkulisse (Soundeffekte, Dialoge und Soundtrack) verbessert. Höhere Bildschirmauflösungen (bis 4K) und Breitbild-Formate werden unterstützt. Das grundlegende Spielprinzip und die Balance von StarCraft und StarCraft: Brood War bleiben völlig unberührt, abgesehen davon, dass man deutlich weiter rauszoomen kann, um einen besseren Überblick über das Schlachtfeld zu bekommen.
In der Story-Kampagne wird allerdings die Präsentation der Geschichte verändert. Die Auseinandersetzungen und die Triumphe von Artanis, Fenix, Tassadar, Raynor und Kerrigan werden mithilfe von illustrierten Zwischensequenzen im Comic-Stil präsentiert (inkl. Cloud-Speicherstände). Diese Cutscenes werden höchstwahrscheinlich die bekannten Render-Videos ersetzen. Für Mehrspieler-Gefechte soll ein Matchmaking-System (Spielerzuweisung) eingeführt werden. Auch die sozialen Features der Blizzard App (ehemals Battle.net) werden unterstützt.
Bigben Interactive und Games Workshop haben eine Partnerschaft zur Entwicklung eines auf der "Warhammer Fantasy Battles"-Lizenz basierenden Spiels für Konsolen und PC bekannt gegeben. Die Umsetzung werde vom französischen Entwickler Eko Software (How to Survive) gehandhabt und soll der erste Hack'n'Slay-Titel im Warhammer-Universum sein: "Das Spiel versetzt die Abenteurer in die Alte Welt, einen finsteren und blutigen Kontinent, verwüstet von den Kriegen gegen das Chaos. Die Spieler müssen ins Herz der Geschichte von Warhammer eintauchen, zum Helden werden und darum kämpfen, in der Einöde zu überleben", heißt es in der Pressemitteilung.
"Wir freuen uns über die Zusammenarbeit mit Games Workshop und die Gelegenheit, ein Spiel zu entwickeln, das das unglaubliche Potenzial der Warhammer-Welt einfängt. Die Teams von Eko Software und Bigben sind bereits seit langer Zeit Fans des Franchises - und das schließt mich ein. Warhammer Fantasy Battles wird den Spielern einiges an Innovation im zeitlosen Hack’n’Slay-Genre bieten", so Benoit Clerc, Director of Video Games bei Bigben.
"Wir freuen uns sehr über den Beginn dieser neuen Partnerschaft mit Bigben. In Kürze soll es ein Update des Future-Racers Fast RMX geben. Das gibt das deutsche Entwicklerstudio Shin'en über Twitter bekannt. Derzeit warte man nur noch auf grünes Licht von Nintendo, um den Termin verkünden zu können. Im Gegensatz zur Wii-U-Vorlage Fast Racing Neo fehlen bei der erweiterten Umsetzung für Switch noch diverse Modi und Komfortfunktionen, die man mit Updates nachreichen möchte, darunter die schmerzlich vermissten Zeitrennen (Time Attack).

The top 25 biggest video game companies saw revenue increase 17 percent year-over-year in 2016, according to Newzoo’s Global Games Market Report. Revenue for the 25 companies hit $70.4 billion.
The largest company, Tencent, saw revenue of $10.2 billion. If Supercell's revenue were included the figure would increase to $13 billion.
The company that saw the largest increase year-over-year in 2016 was NetEase with a 50 percent jump in sales. The company had a strong year in China as it accounted for four out of the five biggest iOS games in China.
Nintendo was the only company in the top 10 to see a decrease in revenue year-over-year. Super Mario Run earned the company $50 million, however, the figure was seen as a disappointment after the success of Pokemon GO. The Switch is expected to turn things around for Nintendo in 2017.

Just under four years ago, Rodeo Games in conjunction with Games Workshop released the turn-based strategy dungeon crawler Warhammer Quest [$2.99] which was quite positively received by players and went on to be a top seller. Well, you may remember about a year ago that the Rodeo Games team, following the disappointing reception of Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch [$1.99], decided to go on hiatus, and one of the founding members of Rodeo went on to form a new company called Perchang. So far that new studio has released the fantastic physics puzzler Perchang [$1.99], named after the company, but they're about to bring things full circle as Perchang the company has just announced Warhammer Quest 2: The End Times. As the official description for Warhammer Quest 2 goes, "A cataclysm was prophesied to bring about the end of the Old World. Now the forces of Chaos have begun their final assault and the last stand is coming. Heroes from all races and lands are venturing forth. Sworn enemies standing shoulder to shoulder fighting the daemons of the apocalypse. Proud warriors search for powerful artefacts to aid their lords in the coming war. Sorcerers toil for untold power, while Witch Hunters seek to settle long held scores. Dark Elf Assassins fill ledgers in blood and berserk Dwarf Slayers topple the mightiest of foes. These are the days of action and adventure. These are The End Times." Wow, that's some heavy stuff! All we really know about the game at this point, other than that description, is that the game is slated for an Autumn 2017 launch, but we'll be keeping on eye on this one and we'll let you know when more details on Warhammer Quest 2: The End Times drop.
Igarashi shared the news in a update posted on the game's Kickstarter page, explaining the rationale behind the move and apologizing to those hoping for a Wii U version.
"During our Kickstarter campaign [in 2015], the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch. This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch.
"We are very sorry that it has come to this after all your support, but we hope you will understand," he said.
Backers will be able to choose a different version of the game or request a refund. More details about how to do are are shared here, but if you had chosen the Wii U version and now want a Switch copy, you don't have to do anything.
Bloodstained, which was delayed last year until 2018, is now slated for release on Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Vita. The Wii U port was only ever planned because Kickstarter funding reached a $3 million stretch goal. The campaign ultimately raised about $5.5 million, making it one of the platform's highest-funded games ever.
