Starbreeze losses widen in Q1 despite increased revenue
Test: Prey
Im Jahr 2032 hat die Menschheit zwar noch nicht den Mars besiedelt, aber wohnt zumindest in der Nähe des Mondes. Dort schwebt die Raumstation Talos 1, die einem Privatkonzern namens TranStar gehört. Was wird da oben gemacht? Geforscht!

Square Enix Drops Hitman Dev IO Interactive
Square Enix announced it has dropped Hitman developer IO Interactive. The publisher is negotiating with potential new investors in order to keep the developer in business.

Here is the complete statement from Square Enix:
To maximize player satisfaction as well as market potential going forward, we are focusing our resources and energies on key franchises and studios. As a result, the Company has regrettably decided to withdraw from the business of IO INTERACTIVE A/S, a wholly‐owned subsidiary and a Danish corporation, as of March 31, 2017. This decision has resulted in booking of the extraordinary loss amounting to 4,898 million yen, including disposition of the content production account related to the business and impairment loss of intangible assets, in the financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017.
As a result of this the Company started discussions with potential new investors and is currently in negotiations to secure this investment. Whilst there can be no guarantees that the negotiations will be concluded successfully, they are being explored since this is in the best interests of our shareholders, the studio and the industry as a whole.

Look At This SNES-Themed Nintendo Switch

Clown TV, a Korean Nintendo Switch owner, wanted to customise his new console. So he skinned it in a home-made SNES (well, Super Famicom) theme that looks incredible.
Xbox Scorpio Awareness Is Relatively Low Among US Gamers, Report Says
Research company Nielsen today released its annual report covering all manner of topics about gaming in the United States. The full "US Games 360 Report 2017" is fascinating and well worth a read; and you can read it here. We've broken down some of the breakout statistics and figures below.
One of the standout charts has to do with awareness of current consoles. With Microsoft's Project Scorpio coming out this year, it looks like the company still has work to do to drive awareness in the product. This chart shows that only 11 percent of the US general popular aged 13 or over had heard of Project Scorpio. The awareness leader is PS4 (69 percent), followed by Xbox One/Xbox One S (61 percent), Nintendo Switch (22 percent), and PS4 Pro (21 percent).
In terms of awareness for the surveyed gamer population, Scorpio came in at 14 percent, the lowest of all the categories except for "None of the above."

And in terms of awareness for non-gamers in the US, Scorpio sits at the bottom as well, at just 3 percent. The PS4 leads the way among non-gamers, at 52 percent, followed by Xbox One/Xbox One S (41 percent), PS4 Pro (9 percent), and Switch (7 percent). Thirty-seven percent said they hadn't heard any of the consoles.
Scorpio's relatively low awareness--for all of the surveyed groups--is not a big surprise. Although the console was announced a year ago, Microsoft has not talked all that much about it since. This has changed in the past few weeks, with Microsoft beginning to share more details. The results of the new report come from a survey distributed in Q1 (January-March), which is before Microsoft started to unveil more Scorpio details, which may in part explain the relatively lower awareness percentages.
After Microsoft gives Scorpio an official title and launches a marketing campaign for it, the awareness figures will surely grow. With E3 right around the corner, Microsoft may be waiting until then to kick it into high gear ahead of the console's release this holiday.
Another notable takeaway from this report is that 77 percent of people who identified as gamers know about PS4 and 72 percent for Xbox One S. This could mean those consoles--which are already performing well in the market--still have room to grow further still.

The Nielsen report also has a slide for purchase intent. The PS4 (21 percent) leads the way in the gamer group, followed by Xbox One (17 percent), Switch (16 percent), PS4 Pro (15 percent), and Scorpio (13 percent).
Another key industry topic that the report covers has to do with physical vs. digital game preferences. While digital consumption is no doubt on the rise, the report shows that, for console gamers aged 13 and older, physical is still the preferred method for the majority (69 percent). As suspected, digital skews higher on PC, with 75 percent of respondents saying they prefer digital.
The Nielsen report also shows that PC is by far the most popular platform for average time spent playing weekly. Twenty-six percent of gamers said they spend the most time on PC during a typical week, followed by PS4/PS4 Pro (14 percent), and Xbox One/Xbox One S (13 percent).
The US Games 360 Report 2017 was compiled from 2000-plus interviews (50 percent male/50 percent female) conducted by online surveys in Q1 (January-March). The responses were then weighted to "ensure representation of the U.S. General Population based on U.S. Census data."

Nintendo Switch Standalone Dock Coming To UK Very Soon
American owners will be able to buy a standalone dock for the Nintendo Switch on May 19, but up until now Nintendo hasn't said when it'll be made available overseas. Today, however, the company announced that this summer the dock will be available for purchase in the United Kingdom.
On Twitter, Nintendo UK revealed that a pack containing a dock, an AC adapter, and an HDMI cable will arrive in UK stores on June 23. It's unclear right now what its price will be, because Nintendo does not set the prices of its products in Europe, so we'll have to wait for retailers to stock it to learn how much it'll cost. For comparison, it costs $90 in the United States.

A standalone Switch dock is particularly useful for people who commute with their Switch and wish to dock it at their workplace. It's also handy for those who want to use it on multiple TVs in their home but don't want to unplug any wires.
Since its launch in March, the Switch has been commercially successful. Nintendo sold 2.74 million units in the first month after its release and now says that the console will likely reach relative sales parity with the Wii. Interestingly, the most popular game on the Switch--The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild--sold 2.76 million copies on the Switch in the first month, more than the total number of Switch consoles sold.
PS1-Style Box Art Available For PS4's Wipeout Collection (In UK)
Sony's upcoming Wipeout remaster collection will come with an extra dash of nostalgia, at least if you buy it at certain places in the UK.
Rather than the usual look of a PS4 game box, Wipeout Omega Collection features an alternate box art design. It's intended to resemble a game for the original PlayStation, complete with its logo and the old black bar along the left side. You can check it out below.

This is seemingly only available at select retailers in the UK, including ShopTo. There's not yet any word regarding availability elsewhere in the world. Some UK retailers, such as ShopTo and Game, are also offering a steelbook case for the game. You can see that in the gallery above.
Wipeout's origins date back to the PlayStation; the first game was released in 1995.
Omega Collection packages together everything from more recent entries in the series: Wipeout HD, Fury, and 2048. It features all of the tracks and ships from those games with enhanced visuals, running at 1080p on PS4 or a dynamic 4K resolution on PS4 Pro. HDR support has been implemented, and both the PS4 and PS4 Pro versions are "targeting" 60 FPS. It arrives on June 6 in the US and June 7 in Europe.

Xbox Game Pass: T-Mobile Customers Get A Free Month
If you're a T-Mobile customer, it looks like you're getting a free one-month subscription to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass service on Xbox One later this year.
Today, T-Mobile announced in a message to customers that they will receive a one-month subscription to the Netflix-style gaming service for free...at some point. The message does not say when the freebie will be available. Xbox Game Pass is due out sometime this Spring, so it could be soon.

The message from T-Mobile also directs people to tune in to the Xbox E3 briefing in June, though it's not clear if any Xbox Game Pass announcements will be made at that time.
"This June, Xbox is comin' back and we're giving one-month of Xbox Game Pass to T-Mobile customers," reads a line from the message. "Discover and download titles you've always wanted or revisit and old favorite--there's always something new to play! Plus, we've got chances at epic Xbox prizes! If you want more info on what's coming next for Xbox, be sure to tune into the Xbox E3 briefing on June 11 at 2 PM PT."
Xbox Game Pass, which was announced in February, is a Netflix-like service that provides subscribers with access to a catalog of 100 games (see all the confirmed titles here). Microsoft let alpha testers try the service earlier this year, though the pre-release testing period has now ended.
Outside of the freebie offer, the service will cost $10/month.

New Assassin's Creed Game's Screenshot And Name Reportedly Leaked
New details have emerged regarding the next entry in the Assassin's Creed series, which will reportedly be called Assassin's Creed: Origins.
That name was first reported by WWG and has since been corroborated by Eurogamer. The latter's sources also indicate the game is a prequel that will launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.

Separately, an off-screen image purporting to be a "first look" at Origins has been published on Reddit. Eurogamer's sources also indicate that the image is legitimate. It pictures a bow-wielding character on a boat, albeit one much smaller than what players controlled in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
Early last year, Kotaku reported the the new game would take place in Egypt and was set for a fall 2017 under the name Assassin's Creed Empire (a name that has seemingly since been changed).
Not long after, Ubisoft confirmed it would not release a mainline Assassin's Creed game in 2016. It said this would allow it to leverage new technology and "give the brand a new dimension."
"Since the release of Assassin's Creed Unity, we've learned a lot based on your feedback," it stated at the time. "We've also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin's Creed a premier open-world franchise. We're taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we’re delivering on the promise of Assassin's Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone's playground."
Unity was maligned for its bugs and technical issues when it launched in 2014. The subsequent game, Syndicate, underperformed at retail.

Apple senkt Affiliate-Provision für In-App-Verkäufe

We’d like to clarify some changes being made to the Affiliate Program. Commissions for all iOS in-app purchases will be reduced from 7% to 2.5% globally, and all other content types (including music, movies, books, paid iOS apps and TV) will remain at the current 7%.
”That’s the standard now,“ says Olivier Bernard of app analytics firm App Annie. ”It’s: ‚Try our product and if you like it, please purchases from it. Our data shows 95 percent of worldwide revenues were from freemium apps in 2014 on iOS”
„In-App Purchases: a mobile app developer’s key to ‚consumer lock-in‘“
AppsFlyer, the leading global mobile marketing attribution analytics company, announced today the results of its State of In-App Spending report, with details from in-app purchase (IAP) behaviors of more than 100 million mobile app users across over 1,000 apps. The report reveals that Asian users spend 40% more on in-app purchases than the rest of the world, although North Americans spend the single highest amount — in shopping apps. In addition, the report shows that iOS users spend nearly 2.5 times as much as Android users — $1.08 to $0.43 in monthly IAP per user, per app. Not only do they spend more, but iOS users are about 50% more likely to spend any money in apps than Android users.
Further, the study finds that only 5.2% of users spend money on in-app purchases, but that the average paying user spends $9.60 in monthly transactions per app with purchase activity — more than 20 times the average spend of all users combined.
