As part of the continued, cathartic expression of our disappointment at not being blown up by aliens yet, the live-action update of Star Blazers is a go—so we can again do fictional battle, at least, with those extraterrestrial invaders who still think they’re above coming down here and saying it to our face. Along with 11 mouse crewmates, Yorick the monkey was the first animal to survive a rocket flight on 20 September 1951, in something similar to the Aerobee rocket above. Apple is reportedly planning to open its first retail location in Rio de Janiero, Brazil early next year, according to 9to5Mac. The specific target date for the opening would reportedly be between February and March 2014, which contrasts with an earlier report from August stating that Apple would be opening its first Brazllian retail store this December. An early 2014 opening would still have the store up and running several months before the start of the FIFA World Cup being held in Rio in June and July.


The report also states that Apple will seek some of its U.S. Apple Retail employees to temporarily relocate to Rio de Janeiro for a few months in early 2014 to educate local employees about Apple retail procedures and act as in-store workers. Apple's difficulty in recruiting employees for its Brazillian store was reportedly one of the reasons why the company could not open the store in July as originally intended.

Apple began hiring for its first Brazilian retail stores last November, and the company has been working with assembly partner Foxconn to move some iPhone and iPad production to the country to avoid hefty import taxes and allow Apple to expand its market share. In October, a regulatory agency also granted Apple the authorization needed to sell the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in Brazil. However, the company has not stated when exactly the new iPhones will launch in the country, as Brazil has not been included on the list of the next round of countries to receive the iPhone.

LG Display is reportedly close to a deal with Apple to provide OLED displays for the upcoming iWatch, according to The Korea Herald (via Unwired View). The report also states that RITEK subsidary RiTdisplay will be the other primary display supplier in addition to LG for the smartwatch. Samsung was also said to have met with Apple over becoming a potential supplier for the iWatch, but discussions between the two companies were reportedly "not productive". A report from May stated that Apple had begun sampling 1.5-inch OLED displays from RiTdisplay for the iWatch, as Apple had also hired a senior OLED expert from LG Display this past February.

“Instead of relying on one supplier for its iWatch, which will be unveiled next year, Apple will have two vendors to be safe. The key provider will be RiTDisplay and LG Display will be the second,” Seoul-based HMC Investment Securities’ analyst Kim Young-woo said. “Japan Display might also be a candidate, but so far its capacity seems lacking.”

Apple has been long rumored to be working on the iWatch, which is expected to serve as an accessory to the iPhone and other iOS devices, giving users easy at-a-glance access to common functions along with additional biometric integration. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated in Apple's fourth quarter earnings call yesterday that the company still plans on introducing new product categories within 2014, which is a likely timeframe for the release of the iWatch as previously indicated by sources of the Financial Times as well as supply chain insiders familiar with the matter.

Procurando pelos sons, Guillaume Iguacel encontrou no porta-malas de um veículo que acabara de estacionar, um bebê entre 15 e 23 meses de vida. Se isso já não bastasse, a criança estava deitada em seu próprio excremento e apresentava sinais de desnutrição, atraso no crescimento e retardamento mental.

Iguacel não pôde acreditar no que via. Imediatamente ele mandou que a “mãe” pegasse a criança e desse algo para beber, pois ela não tinha forças nem para mover a cabeça. O bebê foi levado para o hospital, onde os médicos diagnosticaram crescimento atrasado e problemas mentais.

Os “pais” foram presos e poderão pegar até 10 anos de prisão. O casal é português está desempregado e tem outros três filhos. As crianças foram levadas para o conselho tutelar. A mulher diz que escondeu a gravidez e a criança de todos, exceto do marido. Segundo Iguacel, que ainda se recupera do choque, ela não esboçou reação alguma pelo ocorrido.
