The attack of the coffe stain! So I had this request over at r/redditgetsdraw to draw this fella (i.imgur.com/2vWoSSo.jpg)  as a female, it was suppose to be just a sketch so I started on GIMP and put some colors on top of the image (i.imgur.com/6LkByIG.png) but then I though about how I could push it a little bit further and also use this as an excuse to configure Krita and make/edit some nice brushes to be used on future paintings so I just kept going...This is the result!
It's in the middle of a sketch and a finished artwork but I'm done with this one, time to move on to the next one

Uma das coisas que é bom ser-se um artista 2D é a facilidade, hoje em dia, de se encontrar imagens que possam ser utilizadas como referências, por exemplo: eu queria umas jantes da BMW e apesar que uma pesquisa de imagens na Google traria bons resultados, também é possível utilizar modelos 3D disponíveis em sites próprios como em www.turbosquid.com onde se pode escolher entre comprar, baixar os gratuitos ou simplesmente utilizar a imagem de pré-visão se este for suficiente para o projeto em causa.

Conclusão:
Guache é algo novo para mim mas mal posso esperar até ter tempo para pintar outra vez com ele, é o mais próximo que já consegui da pintura digital porque pode-se ir atrás e corrigir erros, "apanhar" cores já utilizadas, pintar por cima ou simplesmente remover, "acordar" a tinta já seca, etc...
Estou tão habituado a ter um foto para trabalhar, como nas minhas ilustrações à esferográfica, que ser pago para criar uma pintura foi refrescante e desafiante e me abriu para novos horizontes,
Aqui estão alguns detalhes do quadro:

Getting the light to work with the car, bike and the garage itself was a challenge. After give it some thought, I use what I already had create: the SketchUp models.
Blender is awesome and all but it's far easier to recreate a daylight environment with SketchUp.



One of the cool things about being a 2D artist is that today it's easier to find image references, for instance I wanted a BMW rim type and while a Google image search can provide some good results, one can also use 3D models available on specialized sites like  www.turbosquid.com where you can choose to buy, download the free ones or just watch the preview image if that's enough of a reference to project in hand.



In the end of the research phase here's how my folders look like:

Conclusion:
Gouache is a new media for me but I can wait util I have the time to work with it again, it is the closest I've got to digital painting because you can go back fix things, pick up color paint over or just clean up revive dried colors and so on.
I'm so used to have a reference photo to illustrate, like with my ballpoint pen commissions, that creating a painting, as a commission,  was refreshing and challenging and it opened a new horizon for me, the craft of putting together elements to achieve a final painting it's super!
