Top 5 Games Within a Game

by Remy Carreiro

The Smartest of us call it “Gameception.” It is when you are playing a video game only to stumble on another and different video game INSIDE that other video game. Often times, you can play it, too. Yes, you can play the video game that is inside the video game you are playing. That is like reading a book and a mini book falls out that has nothing to do with the original book, yet you read both.

Here are the top 5 games in other games.

Verizon issues furious response to FCC, in Morse code, dated 1934

by Jon Brodkin

Implying Flo's Flower Shop deserves the same latency as Netflix. What a ruse for a bunch of ignorant rubes. Goodbye free speech. Hello "your site has been suspended due to hate speech"

Verizon is just so mad at the Federal Communications Commission today that a normal press release wouldn't do.

After all, Verizon issues so many press releases denouncing the FCC for trying to regulate telecommunications that today's vote on net neutrality required a special one to make sure it would be remembered.

So Verizon wrote it in Morse code and set the date as "1934" to make the point that the FCC is taking us backward in time. Verizon sent out the press release in this e-mail:

Your Beer and Cheese Pairing Cheat Sheet

by Maggie Hoffman

"If I were to say, 'Fill in the blank: Cheese and ______', most people would say 'crackers' right away. Well, beer is made from the same ingredients as crackers (plus a few extras), so to me it just makes sense to put them together," says Jesse Vallins. But of course, when it comes to beer and cheese, some matches turn out tastier than others. We asked beer pros for their general tips and a few must-try pairings. Read More

Get Your Irish on with Flaviar’s Irish Whiskey Sample Pack

by Christopher Null

flaviarSt. Patrick’s Day is just a few weeks away, and that means the Jameson and Bushmills will be flowing freely. But there’s no need to stop there. There are dozens of high-quality Irish whiskey brands available, and St. Patty’s is the perfect excuse to try them all.

Enter Flaviar, a company that specializes in sampler packs of whiskeys, often aligned with a them. Here’s one worth checking out today: an all Irish bundle of ten different spirits from the Emerald Isle, including Redbreast 15, Uisce Beatha, Knappogue Castle 1995, and our much-beloved Green Spot. Each comes in a sampler vial — and when you’re done with the ten, you still have a whole bottle of Jameson to work your way through for the rest of the week. (Or night, we don’t judge you.)

$98 gets you the setup. Sure beats shelling out for green beer!

Mega Man X's Spark Mandrill theme on eight floppy drives sounds awesome

by Chris Carter
D G

that's pretty badass

If you haven't visited MrSolidSnake745's YouTube channel before, he basically recreates various iconic songs by way of floppy drives -- it's just what he does, and he does it well. Just yesterday he posted one of my personal favorite Mega Man tunes, "Spark Mandrill," and it's glorious.

MrSolidSnake notes that Mega Man X was one of the first SNES games he ever had, and that he wanted to give tribute to Spark Mandrill's theme, which is his favorite next to "Armored Armadillo" and "Storm Eagle." All great choices -- what a great soundtrack.
