Oh hey, this looks like the final Steam Controller
Weird as it might still look, you have to admit that Valve's Steam Controller has come far.
Remember this photo? Or this more recent one? It's like leafing through your worst yearbooks.
Given that I play PC-centric games with a mouse and keyboard and I'm fine with that setup, I don't see much of a need to get one of these controllers, but I am curious to touch those trackpads.

Nvidia Unveils Titan X Graphics Card at GDC
A new top-end GPU
It was speculated that Nvidia might announce a new Titan graphics card during GDC, and that's what the company did—in a somewhat dramatic fashion. It happened at the tail end of an Unreal Engine panel. As Epic founder Tim Sweeny wrapped up his discussion on the state of Unreal, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang surprised attendees by emerging on stage to unveil the company's Titan X.
He called it the "world's most advanced GPU," though was short on details. What he was willing to divulge about the card is that it has 12GB of onboard memory and 8 billion transistors. For the sake of comparison, Titan Black has 7.1 billion transistors and 6GB of GDDR5 memory.
"It’s the most advanced GPU the world has ever seen," Jen-Hsun said.
He then presented the company's first production unit to Sweeny, though not before autographing the box in came in.
Nvidia will release more details about the card during the upcoming GTC event that runs from March 17–20.

Hillary Clinton ran private e-mail system while US secretary of state
Hillary Rodham Clinton used a private e-mail service with a non-government handle while US secretary of state—potentially putting her electronic communications at risk from hackers.
Clinton, a potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, has not publicly said why she used the private account—hdr22@clintonemail.com—for government affairs. But doing so raises security concerns and questions about whether the move was done to avoid disclosure of State Department communications under open records law.A House committee is expected to issue subpoenas Wednesday about the issue.

If you're moving to San Francisco, this housing flyer will make you want to cry
San Francisco rent has risen dramatically over the last few years. According to real-estate marketplace Zumper, San Francisco is officially the most expensive rental market in the country, with the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment standing at a jaw-dropping $3,460 a month.
A Business Insider reader asking to remain anonymous sent us a photo they snapped of a rental flyer in Lower Pacific Heights. It includes a list of apartments available for rent in various parts of San Francisco.
And it isn't pretty.

By way of comparison, in fall 2010 you could rent a 3-bedroom unit in a safe but boring neighborhood like the Sunset for a little more than $3,000. Now, that will get you a studio in the same neighborhood.
Many have attributed the astronomical rise in rental prices to the influx of high-salaried tech workers to the city. But a lack of housing and strict rent-control laws that keep landlords from raising rents on long-time tenants to market rates are also factors.
Regardless of the cause, paying nearly $5,000 a month for a one-bedroom apartment in the Inner Sunset seems pretty insane.

ISP Categorically Refuses to Block Pirate Bay – Trial Set For October
Despite its current difficulties in maintaining an efficient online presence, The Pirate Bay remains the world’s most hounded website. Entertainment industry companies around the globe have made the notorious site their number one anti-piracy target and legal action continues in many regions.
Perhaps one of the most interesting at the moment is the action filed last November by Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, Nordisk Film and the Swedish Film Industry. It targets Swedish ISP Bredbandsbolaget (The Broadband Company) and effectively accuses the provider of being part of the Pirate Bay’s piracy machine.
The papers filed at the Stockholm District Court demand that Bredbandsbolaget block its subscribers from accessing The Pirate Bay and popular streaming portal Swefilmer. In December the ISP gave its response, stating in very clear terms that ISPs cannot be held responsible for the traffic carried on their networks.
Last month on February 20 the parties met in the Stockholm District Court to see if some kind of agreement or settlement could be reached. But the entertainment companies’ hopes have been dashed following the confirmation that Bredbandsbolaget will not comply with its wishes.
“It is an important principle that Internet providers of Internet infrastructure shall not be held responsible for the content that is transported over the Internet. In the same way that the Post should not meddle in what people write in the letter or where people send letters,” Commercial Director Mats Lundquist says.
“We stick to our starting point that our customers have the right to freely communicate and share information over the internet.”
With no settlement or compromise to be reached, DagensMedia reports that the district court has now set a date for what is being billed as a “historic trial”.
It will begin on Thursday 23 October and the outcome has the potential to reshape provider liability in The Pirate Bay’s spiritual homeland, despite the fact that it’s now run from overseas.
Bredbandsbolaget will certainly be outnumbered. TV companies including SVT, TV4 Group, MTG TV, SBS Discovery and C More will team up with the IFPI and the Swedish Video Distributors group which counts Fox Paramount, Disney, Warner and Sony among its members.
Internal movie industry documents obtained by TorrentFreak reveal that IFPI and the Swedish film producers have signed a binding agreement which compels them to conduct and finance the case. However, the MPAA is exerting its influence while providing its own evidence and know-how behind the scenes.
Also of interest is that IFPI took a decision to sue Bredbandsbolaget and not Teliasonera (described by the MPAA as “the largest and also very actively ‘copy-left’ Swedish ISP”). The reason for that was that IFPI’s counsel represents Teliasonera in other matters which would have raised a conflict of interest.
There are also some intriguing political implications and MPAA nervousness concerning the part of the case involving streaming portal Swefilmer. Those will be the topic of an upcoming TF article.

Sony’s Project Morpheus VR Headset Launching Early 2016 With 120Hz Refresh Rate
Sony announced significant upgrades to its Project Morpheus Virtual Reality headset for the PlayStation 4 at the Game Developers Conference on Tuesday. With Facebook’s Oculus Rift garnering support and Valve throwing its hat in the ring with a partnership with HTC, VR headsets look to be the next big battleground for games and consumers.
Project Morpheus was first unveiled with a 5-inch LCD screen that supported 60 frames per second. The new prototype unveiled at GDC sports a 5.7-inch OLED display that runs at a 1920 x RGB x 1080 resolution. Even better, it will support a 120Hz refresh rate (120 fps) with a latency of 18ms. A high refresh rate and low-latency are critical for virtual reality experiences that are not disorienting to the user.
The headset is also increasing the number of tracking LEDs from six to nine. These LEDs are built off the PlayStation Move technology, which Project Morpheus is also compatible with in addition to the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller. A PlayStation Camera is required along with a PlayStation 4 console.

“We believe VR will shape the future of games,” Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida wrote. “I can’t wait for you to try Project Morpheus when it launches in the first half of 2016.”
That’s the first mention of a release date for Project Morpheus and one that may potentially beat the competition. Facebook’s Oculus Rift is still in development and while there have been statements attributed to anonymous Oculus VR management that a consumer version will be available in 2015, there’s been nothing official yet.
Meanwhile, Valve just announced a partnership with HTC for the Vive VR headset at the Mobile World Congress this past Sunday and is expected to make another presentation at GDC this week. However, there has not been a hint of a release date. Update: In the midst of writing this article, Valve announced that the Vive is aiming for a 2015 release.
Technology-wise, Project Morpheus boasts the better resolution and frame rate over the competition. The HTC Vive has the hook off two independent screens running at 1200 x1080 and 90Hz, however. It also boasts a “room scale experience” that will allow users to move around a 15 foot x 15 foot room.
The resolution of the latest version of the Oculus Rift is unknown, but rumored to be running at 1440p (via PC World) and a high, though unspecified, refresh rate. It supports 360 degree tracking like the Valve’s and HTC’s Vive.
This is all shaping up to be a very interesting battle in a new space that industry analysts are expecting to boom. Microsoft is skipping out on the battle thus far and is electing to go with the augmented reality HoloLens instead.

Orange Swisher: Beer That Smells And Tastes Like A Blunt
Orange Swisher is this year's blunt inspired beer from New Jersey based Carton Brewing Company. It was crafted to smell like weed, taste like tobacco and fruit, and have a smoky finish. Cant' get your hands on any? Just drink any other beer and smoke a blunt at the same time. Or stay sober, there's nothing wrong with that either. I'm not here to judge, I'm here to ask if you know anybody who can, you know, get me what I'm looking for. "What ARE you looking for?" Shhhhhhhh -- come a little closer. *whispering* A bootleg copy of the new SpongeBob movie.
Keep going for a video of the brewery owner describing the beer.
