A bit more than 2,000 hp in a Gallardo equals a quarter mile time of 10.293 and a mile in 23.479 at 230 mph. Pretty much unbeatable performance.

He Wants Coffee As Dense As He Is

by Not Always Right
Deli | NY, USA

Me: “Here is your coffee, sir.”

Customer: “Oh, could you add more milk to that?”

Me: “Sure.”

(Since the coffee cup is already full, I walk over to the sink to pour a little out before adding more milk.)

Customer: “Stop that! I didn’t say to pour any out!”

Me: “Sir, the cup was full. In order to add more milk, I have to pour a little coffee out.”

Customer: “You should obey what your customers tell you!”

Me: “I’m sorry, but sometimes I have to obey the laws of physics instead.”

3 Video Games That Are So Bad, They’re Good

by Dave LeClair

static gaming
While films being so bad they become good might be common in movies, it's more difficult to have this phenomenon take place in games. Quite simply, this is because a bad game becomes difficult to play, while a bad movie still only requires the same level of interaction as a bad movie. Of course, some games manage to be just playable enough where its problems don't ruin the game. When the stars align in this way, we end up with a game that will tank in review scores, but that just has some quality that makes it so bad it becomes good.

George W. Bush was out jogging one morning when he tripped, fell over a bridge ...

George W. Bush was out jogging one morning when he tripped, fell over a bridge railing and landed in the creek below.

Before the Secret Service guys could get to him, three kids who were fishing, pulled him out of the water. He was so grateful and offered the kids their wish.

The first kid said, "I would like to go to Disneyland."

George said: "No problem, I'll take you there on Air Force One!"

The second kid said: "I really need a new pair of Nike Air Jordan's."

George said: "I'll get them for you and even have Michael sign them!"

The third kid said: "I want a motorized wheelchair with a built-in TV and stereo headset!!"

George is a little perplexed by this and says: "But you don't look like you are injured."

The kid says: "I will be immediately, after my dad finds out I saved you from drowning!"

Shigeru Miyamoto's 'Bad' Game

by Stephen Totilo

Shigeru Miyamoto's 'Bad' Game

Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo's lead creator of Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, was recently showing me Pikmin 3, but there was something he'd just said that I had to follow up on. "I have to ask, Mr. Miyamoto, you said you have made a bad game. What was the bad game you made?"

Simple Now Lets iPhone Users Save More Money With Goals

by peter ha

Simple Now Lets iPhone Users Save More Money With Goals

While nearly everything is moving over to a mobile experience, banking remains one of the last vestiges of the old world. But even that is slowly changing with the likes of Simple, a bank-less mobile service that mashes up the best bits of your existing bank and services like Mint. One of Simple's greatest features, though is Goals, which, as you might imagine, helps you save money for specific set goals. And starting today, Goals will be available for iPhone users.

Goals on mobile is the most requested feature, the company tells me. This isn't a skimped down version of the web experience either. Every bit and byte has been ported over to the mobile app, so you can set and adjust Goals from your phone.

Existing Simple users will grasp the concept of Goals pretty seamlessly but for the uninitiated Goals is basically a digital version of stashing cash in the fridge or in envelopes for specific things you want. Couple that with "Safe-to-Spend" and you'll always have an accurate and up to date dollar figure of what you can actually spend that hasn't already been allocated towards bills or Goals.

An update to the Android app is in the works, says the company.

Tabletop Arcade Machines: Half-Cabinet, Half-Amazing

by Lambert Varias
D G

A good MAME frontend paired with Steam could make for some killer mancave potential.

We’ve seen a handful of tiny arcade machines, but Tiny Arcade Machines is way better. It’s a shop owned by YouTuber dabarduba, an electronics engineer in the UK. He makes compact arcade machines that fit on your desktop or bar counter. They look like arcade cabinets with their lower halves chopped off.

tiny arcade machines

As you can see, dabarduba not only knows his electronics, he’s also got a degree in Appropriately Cheesy Arcade Cabinet Design. His machines come in both 1- and 2-player configuration; they can be loaded with thousands of arcade classics or rigged to play console or PC games. Here’s one of his machines running Street Fighter x Tekken:

You can see more videos of the machines on dabarduba’s YouTube channel. He also makes even tinier – but still functioning – machines, which are perfect for playing just one game, just like a traditional arcade machine.

The arcade machines are not cheap – they cost between £399 to £950 (~$600 to $1,500 USD) – but neither are back surgeries. You can order a unit from the Tiny Arcade Machines website, which also looks like it was made two decades ago. Seriously sir, you would get way more clients if you updated your website.

Everything wrong about medical marijuana marketing in California, in a single snapshot

by Xeni Jardin

I snapped this photo of a popular medical marijuana dispensary storefront in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles last week. To me, it represents everything bone-headed about the way LA area pot shops (which operate in a legal gray zone in a conflicting patchwork of federal, state, and local laws) market themselves.

I am a cancer patient, and I have used cannabis to help get through the side effects of chemo, surgery, and radiation, and to deal with the side effects of my ongoing endocrine therapy. As a cancer patient, I know that it is truly a powerful, safe, and effective medicine; the "medical" part of medical marijuana is not a joke, despite what the forces behind the federal crackdown on dispensaries would have the public believe.

All of that is true. But LA pot shops, come on. You people are just not doing yourself any favors in the branding department.

Besides, as one Instagram commenter wrote, "Muppet Babies AND Alice in Wonderland. One or the other but not both." Plus, just out of frame, there are Dr. Seuss characters, because, what were they thinking, "won't someone think of the children and their need for weed?" Jesus, people.

Hidden iOS 7 Settings Reveal What Apple Is Working On

by peter ha

Buried deep within the first beta release of iOS 7 are a handful of neat and potentially useful features. The hidden enhancements were dug up by Hamza Sood and offer a tad bit of insight into what we might expect in later versions of iOS or even when the latest version ships to the public this fall.

Hidden iOS 7 Settings Reveal What Apple Is Working On

How to actually access the hidden settings is unclear as it doesn't appear to be readily available to everyone with the beta. The above video shows a handful of nice-to-have tweaks like the ability to nest folders within folders now that iOS 7 has pages within folders. You can even hide pre-installed apps!

Other hidden gems include gestures that are activated from corners or swipes from the edge. The latter of which can already be found in Mail and Safari, for instance. As 9to5Mac points out, we could see these new-to-iOS gestures for quicker app switching later on but not much else, as the settings are hidden and likely only for internal use. Losing Your House To Foreclosure Doesn’t Necessarily Mean You No Longer Owe Money To The Bank

by Chris Morran
D G

that's some scary stuff

There’s a commonly held notion that losing one’s home to foreclosure is the final act in a sad drama, that the homeowner has hit bottom and has nowhere to go but up. But thousands of foreclosed-upon homeowners are finding out, years after turning their keys over to the bank, that they may still be on the hook — sometimes for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In 40 states and Washington, D.C., lenders are allowed to sue former homeowners if the seized property fails to recover the balance of the mortgage at auction. So if someone still owed $450,000 on his mortgage but the house only sells for $375,000, the lender can seek a deficiency judgement to recoup the difference.

“Pursuing deficiency judgments has always been a remedy that we have looked at to mitigate our losses prior to the recent housing crash,” a Freddie Mac spokesman tells the Washington Post. “It is not a new thing.”

However, it may be an increasingly popular thing, at least in some areas. According to the Post, there were 57 lawsuits filed against foreclosed-upon homeowners in Maryland during the first four months of 2013. At that rate, the number of suits will surpass the 2012 total of 120.

People who lost their homes to foreclosure, especially those who walked away because they were simply unwilling to pay the mortgage, should be mindful of the time period that lenders have to file such lawsuits. That time period can range anywhere from a few days after foreclosure to 20 years.

For example, lenders in Maryland have a base time period of three years to sue, but there are exemptions that extend that to 12 years. In several states — including Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Delaware, and Georgia — exemptions stretch that time period out to 20 years. So lenders could continue to file for deficiency judgements in these states for decades to come, long after the old homeowner has moved on.

Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, both of whom have been very active in attempting to collect deficiency judgements, claim they are primarily targeting people who could have chosen to stay in their homes but opted to walk away when the value of their property plummeted. In 2011 alone, these two bailed-out mortgage-backers sued around 35,000 former homeowners in an attempt recoup $2.1 billion.

However, a recent report from the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which has managed Fannie and Freddie since the companies were bailed out by taxpayers, found that those 35,000 lawsuits have only thus far brought in $4.7 million.

“Pursuing these collections against borrowers we believe have the ability to pay but who have decided not to helps us minimize our losses, which in turn helps minimize taxpayer losses,” explains Fannie Mae’s vice president for default management. “And we think it’s our responsibility to try to minimize those taxpayers’ losses as much as we can.”

Disney Releases Trailer For ‘Frozen’ [Video]

by Niki Cruz

Disney

In order to pump out some major buzz about an anticipated release, Disney has decided to release a teaser trailer for their film Frozen. However, it doesn’t look to be in the signature-style of Disney, but then again that doesn’t mean it won’t be enjoyable.

Disney has decided to market Frozen in a way that’s similar to Fox’s Ice Age. In order to pump up the buzz Disney has released a first look trailer that’s more of a short than anything else.

The Frozen trailer is a somewhat amusing first look at a snowman and a moose, who just so happens to take on the characteristics of a dog. For Frozen we see the moose chase the carrot nose across a frozen pond. While it doesn’t exactly say much about Frozen, at least we have an idea of what it may look like.

The actual movie sounds a bit more exciting than the first look trailer. Frozen, which is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy Tale The Snow Queen has been explained as:

“When Anna (Bell) is cursed by her estranged sister, the cold-hearted Snow Queen Elsa (Menzel), Anna’s only hope of reversing the curse is to survive a perilous, yet thrilling journey across an icy and unforgiving landscape. Joined by a rugged, thrill-seeking outdoorsman Kristoff (Groff), his one-antlered reindeer, and a hapless snowman, Anna must race against time, conquer the elements, and battle an army of frozen, sinister warriors if she ever hopes to melt her own frozen heart.”

Disney of course pulls out the stops and wrangles an impressive cast of voices for the characters. Kristen Bell is the lead as Bell, Jonathan Groff is Kristoff, and Idina Menzel is the Snow Queen. Also rounding out the cast is Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, and Alan Tudyk.

Frozen was first believed to have been using Meander, which is a hybrid 2D/CGI animation tool (think Disney’s Paperman short). Instead Disney has decided to use the same animation styled in Tangled.

Dave Chappelle Tour: Comedian To Hit The Road With Flight Of The Conchords

by Dan Evon

dave chappelle

Dave Chappelle is going on tour.

The comedian recently announced that he would be hitting the road with the comedy musical act Flight of the Conchords for the Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival. The festival, which is being run by the website Funny Or Die, will start this August and will end in September.

Chappelle became a huge star after the success of Chappelle’s Show but the comedian abruptly left the spotlight in 2006. Chappelle has done a few stand-up gigs over the years but he hasn’t gone on a major tour since leaving Comedy Central.

Funny Or Die writes: “Funny Or Die’s Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival w/ Dave Chappelle & Flight of the Conchords is going to destroy your funny bone this summer!”

Rumors about a Dave Chappelle tour started circulating earlier this year when the comedian gave an improptu show with Chris Rock and Kevin Hart at the Comedy Cellar in New York. Rock and Hart aren’t scheduled to perform during the Oddball tour.

In addition to Chappelle and the Flight of the Conchords, Al Madrigal, Chris D’Elia, Demetri Martin, Hannibal Buress, Jim Jefferies, John Mulaney, Kristen Schaal and Brody Stevens are all scheduled to perform during the festival.

It’s been a little while since Dave has done a major stand-up gig so let’s take a look back at some of his best jokes. (Yes, most of these videos are NSFW for language.)
