A Tubular Glass Home That Wraps Around a Tree

by Jack Lowe

Architect Aibek Almassov has designed a tubular glass house which would wrap around an existing tree, bringing nature right into the heart of the home. "Climbing the stairs [in this] unusual house can be compared with the stages of spiritual purification, enlightenment, harmonising with the environment," said Almassov, when speaking to Dezeen.

Watch an Ostrich Chase a Cyclist at 30mph

by Jack Lowe

Described by cyclist Oleksiy Mishchenko as "the funniest thing you'll see today", this short video shows an ostrich in South Africa chasing two cyclists along a quiet road at roughly 30mph. "Suddenly, I spotted a white ostrich on my left, then this beast jumped on the road from the right and started chasing my friends!" said Mishchenko. "Luckily the creature decided to leave us alone ... My guess he wanted to show off in front of his girlfriend." Check out the footage above.
