Idea for Netflix's 'Stranger Things' stolen?
(HOLLYWOODREPORTER) — In the realm of the supernatural, a secret governmental project investigating the paranormal qualifies as remarkable. So too does a potential trial exploring whether Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer stole the idea for their Netflix show from a guy who allegedly pitched a project at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.
On Wednesday, a Los Angeles Superior Court denied summary judgment to the Duffer brothers in a lawsuit brought by Charlie Kessler.

Florida Prosecutors Plan To Release Kraft Rub-And-Tug Video
Florida prosecutors have indicated that they plan to release police surveillance videos of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who was busted in February along with 24 other men for allegedly receiving sexual favors at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, FL.
Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg’s office said in court papers it is obligated under Florida law to provide the video to the public and the media now and cannot wait for a judge to decide whether it should be kept under seal while Lei Wang is prosecuted as the alleged manager of the Orchids of Asia Spa in Jupiter, Fla.
Wang allegedly managed the spa, and Hua Zhang has been identified by authorities as the owner of the spa. Both women have pleaded not guilty to numerous charges, including maintaining a house of prostitution. -Boston Globe
Kraft's attorneys have sought to have the hidden camera footage excluded from trial, as it was obtained after authorities called in a "fake bomb threat" to plant the cameras under a warrant obtained on suspicion that the spa was involved in human trafficking. He faces two misdemeanor counts of soliciting prostitution during separate visits to the spa on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20, for which he has pleaded not guilty.
Jupiter police got a warrant to install the cameras, and Kraft’s lawyers wrote in Tuesday’s motion that police convinced a judge to sign off on secret filming with a claim, “founded on a fiction,” that human trafficking was suspected at the spa. -Boston Globe
Wang's attorney has similar asked a judge to block the release of the videos while the criminal case is pending. Prosecutors, however, say they just can't wait to release the footage which allegedly includes the 77-year-old billionaire.
"As the custodian of the records, [prosecutors] cannot delay the release of records to allow a person to raise a constitutional challenge to the release of the documents," wrote Aronberg's office on Wednesday, adding "The Public Records Act does not allow a custodian to delay the production of records to allow the resolution of a constitutional challenge to the release of the documents."
An attorney for Kraft described the recording of his actions in the spa as "pornogrphy."
Kraft and 14 other men charged in the case have asked a judge to issue a protective order blocking the public release of the videos, a request opposed by the Globe and a coalition of other media outlets. That request is still pending before Judge Leonard Hanser.
Prosecutors have not taken a stance in that case.
However, prosecutors are now shifting the issue to the prosecution of Wang, who allegedly engaged in sexual acts with Kraft on Jan. 20 that were videotaped by Jupiter police, who had secretly installed a surveillance camera while investigating alleged human trafficking in the spa. -Boston Globe
Prosecutors also said they are obligated to release the videos in the Zhang case, and would move forward with releasing pixelated versions unless told by a judge not to.
"What is the reason the public needs to see the video itself?" asked Kraft's defense attorney William Burck, noting that the explicit details were already made public by Jupiter police.
"The only possible reason to release it is to get eyeballs and clicks" from people who want to watch individuals "engaging potentially in sexual conduct."

Judge halts release of Kraft 'prostitution' video
(ABC NEWS) — The judge overseeing the case in which New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is charged with soliciting prostitution halted Florida prosecutors’ plans to release police surveillance video from a spa at which Kraft and two dozen other men have been charged with paying for and receiving sexual favors.
“I don’t want this released until I’ve ruled,” Florida Circuit Court Judge Joseph Marx said in an emergency hearing on a conference call with the two parties and the media late Wednesday afternoon.

Nein, Nein, Nein: Herman Cain Says He Won't Withdraw From Fed Board Consideration
"Nein, Nein, Nein." That is Herman Cain's response (loosely translated to German) to the White House's subtle hints that he should drop his candidacy for the Fed Board.
One day after Bloomberg reported that the White House is in discussion with candidates to replace Herman Cain and Stephen Moore following a widespread outcry over their candidacy, on Wednesday the WSJ reported that Herman Cain he has no intention of withdrawing his name from consideration for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board, despite a clear lack of sufficient support - even among Republicans - for Senate confirmation if President Trump nominates him.
The former pizza company executive said that he’s “very committed” to sticking with the process of being vetted by the White House as it considers whether to formally nominate him for the position, the WSJ reported following an interview with the failed presidential candidate.
He said the Fed needs “new voices” and it has been “too quick” to raise interest rates in the past, a view he expressed to Trump and his top economic adviser Lawrence Kudlow in a meeting in late January at the White House. In doing so, he confirms that Trump is aggressively seeking to stack the Fed board with doves so that the Fed will cut rates ahead of the all important 2020 presidential election to avoid a recession which would likely cripple Trump's chances for a second term.
“The president asked me one simple question…He said, ’Would you consider doing this if you make it through the process?’ I said yes. Didn’t hesitate,” Cain told the WSJ during the interview at his office in suburban Atlanta.
Despite Cain's refusal to withdraw, his rejection is all but assured after four Republican senators said last week they wouldn’t support Cain due to concerns including his conservative activism and sexual-harassment allegations, which he has denied.
Unless some of those senators change their stance, or unless Cain manages to win Democratic or Independent support which will not happen, he would leave him short of the votes needed for confirmation. Sensing that he is a lost cause, the White House has taken a noncommittal tone about Cain’s chances of making it through the process. On Tuesday, Larry Kudlow said “it will probably be up to Herman Cain if he wants to stay in that process or not.”
Ironically, Cain said it was Kudlow’s idea to consider him for the Fed job in January, after Trump had been venting his frustration about interest-rate increases for months. Cain said the last time they spoke, Kudlow encouraged him to hang in there—though he couldn’t specify when exactly that was.
“What Kudlow was doing was giving me an out, and I appreciate that, but I don’t want an out. I don’t want an out,” Cain said, adding that he doesn’t think the White House is getting cold feet about his potential nomination, even though it clearly is.
“You know that the president is a fighter, and Kudlow is a fighter. They might be getting a lot of blowback from some folks, I don’t know. But I don’t think they’re getting uncomfortable with it.”
And while Cain refuses to accept reality, Trump will have no choice but to find one - or perhaps two - new uberdoves to replace the current duo he has nominated, and whose odds of being approved are virtually nil. As such, we once again recommend AOC, for the simple reason that if there is one person who can finally end the Fed, it would be the upstart Democratic Socialist, who will sooner or later mandate the Fed to print the roughly $100 trillion needed to fund her Green New Deal, and in doing so end the reign of the reserve currency once and for all.
Buttigieg enlists Obama, Hillary fundraisers
(CNBC) — Pete Buttigieg’s increasingly popular presidential run has drawn the support of more than two dozen top Democratic fundraisers, including people who bundled big-dollar donations for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton during their White House bids, according to a list CNBC obtained from campaign aides.
The financiers on the roster range from former U.S. ambassadors to real estate executives, the latest evidence that the South Bend, Indiana, mayor’s underdog bid to challenge President Donald Trump next year is catching on with Democrats as the party sorts through a crowded primary field.
