Newly-renovated Burger King catches fire hours after grand reopening

CENTRAL - Officials say a restaurant damaged during the freeze this past winter is closed once again, just a few hours after it reopened.

The Central Fire Department says it responded to a fire at the Burger King on Greenwell Springs Road near Sullivan Road around 3:20 Tuesday afternoon. Crews were able to get the fire under control within the hour and no injuries were reported.

The city of Central confirms the restaurant had recently been renovated due to damage sustained during a freeze several months ago. The location had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate its reopening Tuesday, just a few hours before the fire was reported.

There's currently no word on when the restaurant will open again.

Ronan Farrow: Schneiderman Accusers Warned By Friends Not to Speak For the Good of Dem Party

by Joe DePaolo

Tuesday morning, Ronan Farrow stopped by CNN’s New Day to discuss his latest bombshell New Yorker report — on New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman being accused by four women of physical violence.

Speaking with Alisyn Camerota, Farrow detailed the reasons why the alleged victims were reluctant to come forward. And one of those reasons, according to the New Yorker contributor, was party politics.

“A lot of their friends and loved ones said, ‘Don’t do it. Don’t speak out against him,'” Farrow said. “And in some cases, that was because they feared the risk of reprisals. They feared him threatening people — using his office and power to say he could wiretap people or he could come after people.

“But also in some cases, Alisyn, those friends warned them off of talking because they thought that he had the power to do too much good for the Democratic Party.”

Camerota seemed to be taken aback by Farrow’s revelation.

“That’s a story in itself, of the sacrifices that people think they make for the cause,” Camerota said. “The personal sacrifices.”
