Is This The First Look At WB's Brand-New Batman Cartoon?

It's a look and nothing more, but this banner from the Las Vegas Licensing Expo sure looks like the first promo for a brand-new cartoon titled Batman Unlimited. Since Cartoon Network unceremoniously dumped Beware the Batman , the Dark Knight has needed a new series — but is this it?

Based on Naoko Takeuchi's legendary manga series, Sailor Moon Crystal retells the story of Sailor Moon, the Pretty Sailor Guardian of love and justice. Yeah Yeah. It is a silly click bait list. Whatever.

I mostly only bring it up because I really would not want anyone but Ikuhara to ever maybe even glancingly touch Utena.

7 Magical Girl Series That Deserve Modern Sailor Moon-Style Remakes

When Sailor Moon Crystal debuts in Japan next month, it will bring the preeminent magical girl (also known as mahou-shojo in Japanese) anime back to TV for the first time since 1997. FUNimation Adds "Bayonetta: Bloody Fate" Anime Film

by Joseph Luster

FUNimation announced the acquisition of the Bayonetta: Bloody Fate anime film, based on the hair-fisted, gun-blasting action game from Platinum Games and director Hideki Kamiya (Devil May Cry, Okami). The anime's director, Fuminori Kizaki, will be appearing at this year's Anime Expo as a guest of honor, and will present a sneak peek of the English dub.

Kizaki—who previously helmed Afro Samurai, Basilisk, and X-Men, among others—will be following it up with a special Q&A session on Saturday, July 5, at 8:15pm in Video 1. Gonzo's take on Bayonetta "expands and further faithfully captures the extreme action and sexiness of the original, crafting a storyline that expands and further establishes the world of the sexy, shape shifting witch, Bayonetta."

Trailer:

More info to come on the film and its cast over at FUNimation's official Bayonetta: Bloody Fate Facebook page.

Discotek Licenses "Flame of Recca" and "Ceres, Celestial Legend" Anime

by Scott Green
Alainmendez

Unexpected.

Discotek Media has announced on Facebook that they have licensed the 1995 adaptation of Nobuyuki Anzai's super powered ninja  Shōnen Sunday fight series Flame of Recca and the adaptation of Yuu Watase's shoujo reimagining of the Tennin legend, Ceres, Celestial Legend (Ayashi no Ceres).

Both previous Viz licenses will be released in 2015 and will include English dubs along with the Japanese language and English subtitles.

Discotek also asked...

Hypothetical Blu Ray question: If we decided to release some anime TV series on a single Blu Ray disc that we wouldn’t plan on otherwise due to the high cost of Blu Ray authoring and manufacturing, would this be of interest? For example, we could put a shorter show on one BD and still have it high quality. What about SD content that has no HD masters on a BD? Samurai Pizza Cats complete series on one BD disc for example so you could watch all the episodes without switching discs.

"Final Fantasy Explorers" Action-RPG to Have About 20 Job Types

by Joseph Luster

If you wanted more info on the upcoming Final Fantasy Explorers action-RPG, Famitsu has you covered. Among the latest details on the four-player 3DS game is word that it will have about 20 types of playable jobs, adding plenty of options on top of the previously revealed four.

In addition to the Knight, Monk, White Mage, and Black Mage jobs, Dragon Knight, Paladin, Thief, Ninja, Red Mage, Time Mage, and Bard have been confirmed as playable.

Famitsu describes Explorers as a "lite" version of Final Fantasy XI or XIV. Players will be able to assign a maximum of eight abilities to each button for battles, and job-specific abilities can be used within other jobs once mastered. Ability costs depend on the currently chosen job.

Players will also be able to train monsters after befriending ones they face in battle. Any of the four available player slots that are empty can be filled with monsters, so combination human/monster parties are possible. All of the battling and exploration will take place on an island with various locations, with the ability to travel across its connected lands.

The release date for Final Fantasy Explorers has yet to be announced, but both local and Internet co-op will be supported when it does launch. Square Enix is gearing up to make this a proper sub-series of Final Fantasy, and players can look forward to a 100-200 hour adventure.
