Graph: Which Game of Thrones episode corresponds to which book chapter

by Casey Chan on Sploid, shared by Cheryl Eddy to io9

This is God’s work. Or at the very least, the work of a Grand Maester. Joeltronics made this very useful graph that shows which episode of Game of Thrones the TV show corresponds to which chapter and which book in the A Song of Ice and Fire books (aka the Game of Thrones books). That way you know what’s been shown when and what’s been omitted in the story.

by news+feed@crunchyroll.com

It is confirmed today that a stage play adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's 1995 short manga Shikei Shikkou-chu Datsugoku Shinkou-chu (Under Execution, Under Jailbreak) is in the works. This is the first stage play adaptation of a manga work by Araki, who is best known as the creator of the long-running JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series. It will be performed at The Galaxy Theater in Tokyo from November 20 to 29, 2015.

30-year-old dancer/actor Mirai Moriyama will play the lead. He recently performed in two plays inspired by Osamu Tezuka, TeZukA in 2012 and Pluto (based on the remake by Naoki Urasawa) early this year, both were choreographed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Among anime fans, he is also known as the voice of Jesus Christ in the anime adaptations of Hikaru Nakamura comedy manga Saint Young Men.

The short was published in the 2nd issue of Shueisha's Super Jump magazine in 1995. The story centers

on a condemned criminal No. 27. His cell is decorated like a first-class hotel. But in attempt to escape,

he comes to understand the cell itself is his execution room.

____________

With no written records from the Zulus themselves, historians and anthropologists have pieced together their history from a smattering of sources. We first learn of the Zulu as a minor tribe of the Bantu people, living in South Africa. Shaka Zulu, the man who would organize them into an empire, was born the illegitimate son of a Zulu king. He was sent away with his mother Nandi to grow up in her tribe, the Langeni, but he eventually caught the attention of Dingiswayo, the leader of another powerful tribe called the Mtethwa. Appointed as the leader of a squadron called an ibutho, Shaka developed new tactics including a short "iklwa" fighting spear and a simple but effective military maneuever called "the Bull Horn." When his father died, Shaka - now a successful military leader - returned with Dingiswayo's backing to assassinate the rightful heir and assume control of his native tribe. Just a year later, though, the neighboring Ndwandwe tribe murdered Dingiswayo and Shaka vowed revenge on their leader, Zwide. He then launched a bloody war that, combined with the strains created by European colonization, led to the Mefacane, or the Crushing.

No historian is perfect, so it's important we acknowledge our mistakes where we find them (with the help of our viewers, no less)! After we clear up some discrepancies that emerged during the South Sea Bubble series, we turn to answering some common questions that came up during this series on economic history. In a period where financial masterminds like John Blunt engaged in trickery meant to confuse other people and hide his real activities, it's no wonder that many viewers had questions about what insider trading is and how Blunt could endlessly inflate stock prices for his unprofitable company. This is a history show, but we do our best to explain! As a bonus, James also reads Robert Knight's letter to Parliament on the eve of his illegal flight and tells some cool stories about Robert "It was Me" Walpole.

Content Warning: Graphic Violence

Violence lies at the heart of the Western tradition. Rage is an essential part of human nature, one that literature, art, and games can help us explore in healthy ways. It gives us an outlet to cool down and helps us address the question of whether violence can be directed to a good cause, like saving the world or freeing people from oppression. There's value in that, but there's no value in sadistic games like Hatred. These games revel in the pain we cause to others, crossing the line from violence to cruelty. These games have every right to be made, and calls for a ban would be misdirected, but they have no right to be rewarded for exploiting cruelty to create sensation. Do not buy them. Do not glorify them. Do not mistake sadism for expression.

Box Office: 19th "Detective Conan" Film Beats "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F"

by news+feed@crunchyroll.com

More reports on the weekend box office of May 2-3 in Japan have arrived. Although it lost the opening weekend battle, the 19th Detective Conan film, Sunflowers of Inferno, has earned more than its strongest competitor, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F.

In its first weekend of April 18-19, Conan took second place with 874,762,300 yen, only behind DBZ with 960,586,350 yen. But in the second weekend when Disney's Cinderella easily took the top, DBZ dropped to third, while Conan hanged onto second. They kept the same positions in the third weekend.

By May 6, Conan had earned 3.5 billion yen with 2.82 million ticket sales, and DBZ had grossed 3.1 billion yen on 2.36 million admissions. The former is expected to soon become the highest grossing Conan film passing the previous record of 4.11 billion yen by the last year's Dimensional Sniper. As reported, the latter has already surpassed the total theatrical revenue of the previous DBZ film Battle

of Gods in 2013, 2.9 billion yen.
