Takashimaya Teams up with "Rose of Versailles" for a Revolutionary Valentine's Day Promotion
If you're in the mood for a little old-fashioned romance this Valentine's Day, stop by Takashimaya's Shinjuku store -- where there's currently a Rose of Versailles celebration underway with chocolate, fancy clothes, and prizes for fans.

The event, called "Amour du Chocolat," is currently running, and includes all sorts of special-edition goods and snacks for chocolate lovers and Rose of Versailles fans.

LINE users have the opportunity to fill out a questionnaire (linked on the website), with the first 10,000 responders receiving a voucher for a "message cookie." They can be picked up in the 11th floor Amour du Chocolat reception area.

Speaking of limited goods, there are just 7,000 of these clear files featuring the campaign art, which you can pick up on floors 4-6 with a purchas of at least 5,000 yen.
In addition, there's the Pretty! BeruBara Camera, an on-site app that lets you take a photo and put yourself into the world of the manga. Uploading a photo of yourself using of these filters with the hashtag #ベルばらカメラ on Twitter or Instagram will enter you in a raffle for a variety of unspecificed prizes. There will be 100 winners in total.
If you'd like to try out a smaller version of it on your own phone, scan this QR code:

There will also be a chocolate-tasting table and photo booth on the 11th floor, as well as gift certificates and more special prizes to be announced.
The "Amour du Chocolat" event is on now, and runs 'til February 14.

PreCure Goes Mobile with Upcoming Smartphone Game
Not content to let Madoka Magica rule the magical girl side of smartphone gaming, Toei's own battalion of heroines have stepped in. Later this year, the PreCure franchise will make their official dive into iOS and Android games.

Titled PreCure Tsunagaru Pazurun ("PreCure Connection Puzzle-un"), it's advertised as an easy hitofudegaki game (a type of game where you draw a shape without lifting the pen -- or, in this case, your finger or stylus). As you complete puzzles and gather cards, you'll build a larger team of characters from which you can choose as you play.
At present, the art only shows three teams: the early Futari wa PreCure MAX HEART team and the more recent Go Princess PreCure and Maho Girls PreCure! teams. There's no indication yet of whether more teams will be filled in either retroactively or as they premiere.
Preregistrations are currently open on the site via email or Twitter; additionally, preregistered players may be contacted about a closed beta in the near future.

As preregistrations stack up, more and more special gifts will become available to early adopters. At 30,000 users, a pack of 200 jewels (presumably the currency of the game) will unlock. At 50,000 and 80,000 respectively, the two cards shown above -- "Black Ribbon Nagisa Misumi" and "Polka-Dot Dress Honoka Yukishiro" -- will also unlock, both with a three-star rating.
PreCure Tsunagaru Pazurun will go live later this year for iOS and Android. Visit the official site for more information.

"Monthly Shōnen Sunday" Holds Contest to Create Manga Spin-Off
Shogakukan's Monthly Shōnen Sunday manga magazine is currently running a contest entitled the "Takagi-san Cup", and the winner of the contest will be recruited to create a four-panel comic spin-off manga for Souichirou Yamamoto's popular series, Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san ("Takagi-san is Good at Pranks").

The "Takagi-san Cup" is being implemented as part of Monthly Shōnen Sunday's "Newcomer Award" program. Artists both professional and amateur are encouraged to apply, and the applications are open until April 12, 2017. The goal of the contest is to create a spin-off manga set in the world of Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san, but focusing on the everday lives of Takagi and Nishikata's classmates.

In Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san, Takagi-san enjoys playing tricks on Nishikata, a boy who sits next to her in class. Nishikata tries to return the favor for all of the jokes played on him, but Takagi-san is simply too good at pulling pranks to fall for his attempts at pranking.

Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san began life as a web comic published on the Pixiv Comic website, and the series is now published in Shogakukan's Monthly Shōnen Sunday magazine.
