Boats in Minecraft, due to their durability (or lack thereof), have been nigh impossible (or at least highly aggravating) to use on anything but the open sea for years now. One player took to Reddit to vent a bit on the matter. And thank goodness he did.

DsiderLook, this could all be nostalgia-driven descriptions for all I know, but I did find the few books of this series I was able to read back then thoroughly entertaining. I think you find out in an origin book about those creatures that granted those kids the morphing capabilities that one of them was actually the father of the guy who got trapped in the body of a falcon.
One of these days when I'm bored I guess I'll look up a wiki and see how crazy things get. I don't think I'll ever be able to find the answer to why I suddenly stopped reading (not this series, books in general) on a regular basis, though.
37q:
did anyone ever actually read animorphs or did we all just glance at the covers and assume it needed no explanation on the way to the goosebumps section in our elementary school library
animorphs is a scifi series about the grey morality of war and child soldiers experiencing trauma, depression, PTSD, being frequently and brutally dismembered, disemboweled, literally tortured to the brink of death, forced to murder their own family members with their bare hands, and on page 22 of the very first book they watch the alien prince who gave them their ~wacky animal morphing powers~ scream while be eaten alive in vivid and gory detail
One dude permanently turned into a bird for a while, forgot how to make facial expressions when he was a human and ate roadkill. And that was one of the tamer things.
You know the starfish cover everyone likes to mock especially? The girl beat someone to death with her own severed arm in that one :)
What the fuck did I miss out on
At one point, they tried to let another guy into their little army, and he ended up being a literal sociopath, decided to morph (shape-shift) into the bodies of the rest of them in order to trick them/blackmail them, and ended up stuck in the body of a rat on an island that humans would later perceive to be haunted because of his telepathic screams of anguish.
And in another one, one of them has an… “allergic reaction?” to one of the animal forms she possesses. She rapidly and unexpectedly shape-shifts into a bunch of different animals out of her control. She shifted into an elephant on the second floor of her home, collapsing her house, and almost killing her two little sisters.
The bird boy from before? There is a whole side story in one of the books where he stalks this bunny family and refuses to eat any of the babies because “he’s human damnit” and he’s literally starving and then at the end he eats the mother bunny, turns into her, and adopts the babies as his own.
The two most powerful creatures in this series, the Ellimist and the Crayak, literally have “creation” and “destiny intervention” as a superpowers. (God-like creatures.) They are mortal enemies. They have a private war going on, and this alien invasion on Earth with the animal morphers? Just chess pieces to them. They have admitted that they are both “simple members of their races” meaning that there were more powerful creatures than them out in the universe, but we never saw them.
There was a side book that didn’t follow one of the main six, that went back in time to an alien planet, and told the love story of an inter-species relationship where neither one of them were human.
The blue horse race aliens? Eat with their feet and have a serious superiority complex when it comes to other races. (They have the power to fight a war, but are dragging their feet to come help little, useless, dirty, under-developed, third-world Earth.)
Animorphs was dark af, didn’t hold back from serious issues because it was kid’s book, and had an ending that the writer defended with
“Wars don’t end happily. Not ever.” … “So that’s what I wrote.”
fuck, man, animorphs was the single greatest formative influence on me as a kid. like, before lord of the rings or harry potter or whatever the fuck else, there was animorphs. that shit shaped my life and my expectations for good storytelling and good characters. nothing else i’ve ever read has quite come close to what animorphs was to me when i was a kid (shit, and still is to me now as an adult)
DsiderWhat a crazy ride this game has enjoyed

When a fan group making a fighting game based on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic received a cease and desist letter from Hasbro back in 2013, show creator Lauren Faust stepped in to help them develop an original game—Them’s Fightin’ Herds.
DsiderI'm pretty sure the final dungeon in P4 is modeled after these, I can't imagine how it must feel to walk through them
DsiderAs I learned in the comments, apparently Don Hertzfeld created a guest opening for the show, and it was pretty fucked up.

Homer... has... changed. As if the original opening credits of The Simpsons weren’t full of small gags, French artist Yoann Hervo redrew the whole thing in a really trippy, nightmarish way.
DsiderShe learned the Kojima lesson that Animal Crossing has taught from the beginning: "You will feel ashamed of your words and deeds"

For months, I’ve had a specific if not dubious plan for Happy Home Designer. An evil scheme. A dastardly design. I’ve been waiting a long time to make this happen, damn it.

I had hopes! Big hopes! There was potential, I thought, and maybe, just maybe, the filmmakers were going to show me up as an idiot by delivering a first-rate, smart Attack on Titan sequel. I was wrong. They did not.
