Holy shit, that is a smart design choice on their end. They used to do these kind of events before almost every expansion, but this is the best implementation I've seen of it so far.

For the past week players of all levels, races and factions have been joining forces to try and stem the tide of soul-hungry demons spilling into our lands, determined to end life as we know it. I’ve not had this much fun with other players in ages.

Brilliant Fan Remake Of Metroid II Arrives Just In Time (Update)

Because we can no longer count on Nintendo to do anything worthwhile with this series anymore. Well, it's been that way for around a decade, just about.

Metroid II: The Return Of Samus was released in 1991 for the Game Boy. Project AM2R, some six years in the making, takes that Game Boy game and makes it look, sound and play so much prettier. The fan project got its first full release today, to coincide with the series’ 30th .
