Animation teaches you all that happened in World War II in 7 minutes

Animation teaches you all that happened in World War II in 7 minutes

I really wish YouTube and the Internet as we know it today existed when I was in high school. So instead of reading textbooks and taking notes in class, I could just watch YouTube videos and Wikipedia entries on any test I had coming up. Seriously, I could have dozed off in class and just watched this animation detailing the major workings of World War II.

This little kid is better at yo-yo than I am at anything

by Casey Chan on Sploid, shared by Casey Chan to Gizmodo

This little kid is better at yo-yo than I am at anything

I should just give up. Call it quits. It's over. This cute little kid is better at doing yo-yo tricks than I am at doing anything. Yeah, even things I've done pretty much all my life like breathing or drinking water or cutting my toenails. Even worse for me, he looks so cool (and cute!) doing it. He has so much control over the yo-yo that it looks like it's under some sort of boy wizard spell. You do you, kid. Who cares if the rest of us adults feel bad about ourselves.

Custom ROM community brings KitKat to the Galaxy S3

Samsung announced that they wouldn't be bringing Android KitKat to their aging Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, but that didn't stop the XDA and Android hacking community from porting it over anyway. As long as you don't have an issue with rooting your device and following the instructions on the forum (posted in the source link below), then you'll be able to enjoy KitKat on your S3. However, as with most custom ROMs, the KitKat ROM for the S3 isn't perfect. There are still some stability and usability issues, and not all features of the phone may function properly. Users may experience some glitches as well. However, if nearly all previous custom ROMs are any indication, the KitKat S3 ROM will get better with time as the community continues to work out the kinks. The community should be a large one as well, considering that the Galaxy S3 is an extremely popular handset and its user base was livid when they discovered that Samsung wouldn't be porting over Google's latest iteration of its mobile OS to their beloved device. It's interesting to note that the KitKat ROM file is too large to fit onto the Galaxy S3's internal storage; Samsung's pre-loaded bloatware is primarily to blame. Once it was removed, the hackers were able to successfully port it without any storage space issues. Samsung originally cited memory issues as to why the S3 wasn't getting a KitKat port, but many saw that as a way of the Korean manufacturer phasing out their older product line in the hopes that consumers will opt for the company's newer offerings. Color-Changing Markers Let You Know When a Hot Drink Has Safely Cooled

by Andrew Liszewski

Color-Changing Markers Let You Know When a Hot Drink Has Safely Cooled

The markers used by baristas at coffee shops to label cups might soon be useful for more than just identifying your drink. Inspired by the experience of burning your tongue on overly hot coffee, the Ink N Drink markers contain heat-sensitive ink that lets you know which drink is yours, and if it's safe to sip yet.

A Guide to All of the Comic Book Shows Premiering This Year

The big TV networks just finished announcing what their schedules would look like for the upcoming year - a lot of shows were cancelled, and a lot of new ones were picked up. The weird thing is that - amongst the new shows - a lot of them are adaptations of comic books or comic book characters. Like, way more than ever before - with at least five major ones(not including renewals of shows like Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and cable shows in the work like AMC's Preacher).

Even more bizarrely, a lot of them look like they might actually be good. It's a weird, weird time to be a comic book nerd.

These ads explain why books are always better than movies

Everyone with wrinkles on their brains knows that the book is almost always better than the movie. The book can do so much more! Your personal vision is only limited by your imagination! The little details and subtleties are allowed to breath better! These ads explain it rather perfectly saying, "a big part of the story is lost when it becomes a movie".

China Just Commissioned the World's Fastest Elevators

Today, the Japanese tech giant Hitachi announced a contract to build two of the fastest elevator in the world for a forthcoming skyscraper in China. Seems innocuous enough, right? But buried within the press release are a few fascinating details that illustrate how China's skyscraper boom is affecting the global economy—including the fact that it bought a whopping 60 percent of all elevators sold in 2013.

How the movie Frozen should have ended (Spoiler: Elsa joins the X-Men)

All anyone ever wanted to talk about for the past few months has been Frozen. It's so fun! The songs are so good! We want to lip sync them! Disney Animation is better than Pixar now! And so on and so on. Was it really that good, guys? HISHE thinks it could have better. Or at least, different with this alternate ending where Anna and Elsa's parents just don't understand what the heck to do (and go to someone who knows very well how to help mutants).
