A couple months ago the lastest wonderfully weird Japanese photo meme to hit the internet depicted students unleashing powerful Dragon Ball Z Makankosappo and Kamehameha energy attacks on each other.

Now a fantastic variation has appeared. Behold the awesomeness of the “Tuba Gun” attack (チューバ砲 or “Chuuba Juu”). That’s right, Japanese band geeks have hijacked an already awesome photo meme and made it Super Awesome.

As you can see from the photos above there are also variations using other instruments like the trombone and cymbals. We can’t stop smiling. It might be time to dig out our high school band instruments and get to work.

The 11 Series by Ty Palmer

Football-inspired artist Ty Palmer recently reached out to AFR to share his latest collection. It’s based on the classic roots of the game, when defenders didn’t wear the number 37 and strikers couldn’t legitimately wear the number 2.

In his words… I felt the need to challenge myself with an illustrated portrait series, so I decided I would create a series of posters of my favorite footballers to wear 1 - 11. This project gained spirit with my work with the futbol artist network. I have loved the beautiful game for as long as I can remember, and I wanted to commemorate the genius of the game. Each poster uses the specific color palette of either the crest or kit of the team to dictate the composition. Mixed in each piece is the respected stadiums of each player, which are lightly ghosted within the work.

There are few things in this life I find more relaxing than a thunderstorm. There’s nothing quite like the rhythmic pounding of rain on your roof accompanied by the low rumble of thunder in the distance. Unfortunately, I have yet to master the art of summoning the weather at my leisure, so when I’m craving the soothing sounds of rain, the new Raining.fm app is the next best thing.

Raining.fm is a website that exists for one purpose: to serve you with the sound of rain. It’s incredibly simple, and works incredibly well. The website is clad in neon-pastel colors, and easy to understand buttons. You can adjust the amount of thunder and lightning sounds, use a built-in break or sleep timer to automatically regulate the rain and use the image button to enable background scrolling, or pause on an image you like.

Released just this week on Android (and iOS), the Raining.fm app is a perfect translation of the website into app form. The same colors, backgrounds, options, features and icons are used, keeping things simple and consistent across platforms. While it may have a bit of an iOS look to it, with buttons across the bottom, the way it functions (with vertically-sliding panels) works well, and fits in nicely on Android.

Raining.fm for Android is $1.99, but it’s well worth it. My favorite part about the app is that it plays in the background, and with other audio tracks. Paired with Google Play’s new All Access Music, Raining.fm is a relaxation machine. Just last night, I was lulled to sleep by the sound Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata over a gentle storm (more rain, less thunder and lightning). I can’t think of a better way to end a hot, muggy spring day.

NASA is funding research into 3D-printed food. Mechanical engineer Anjan Contractor received a $125,000 grant from the agency to build a prototype 3D printer with the aim of automating food creation. It's hoped the system could provide astronauts food during long-distance space travel, but its creator has the loftier aim of solving the increasing food shortages around the world by cutting down on waste. The software for the printer will be open-source, while the hardware is based on the open-source RepRap Mendel 3D printer.

The concept is to use basic "building blocks" of food in replaceable powder cartridges. By combining each block, a wide range of foods should be able to be created by the printer. The cartridges will have a lifespan...

Apesar do lançamento do idioma chegar a par da estreia nos cinemas de Star Trek into Darkness, o novo filme da saga, os responsáveis pelo Bing translator garantem que a ideia já existia há muito tempo, uma vez que klingon é a língua inventada mais falada no mundo.

O desenvolvimento da ferramenta de tradução contou com a parceria do Klingon Language Institute (KLI), da Paramount Pictures e da CBS Consumer Products, refere uma nota online.

San Zhi is a futuristic resort town that never was. As Design You Trust reports, construction on the Taiwan site began in 1978, but was abandoned just two years later, after a series of fatal accidents. Today, all that remains are colorful, pod-shaped homes, scattered across the overgrown coastline. It may have never become the resort mecca that was once envisioned, but San Zhi has become a tourist attraction in recent years, with visitors touring its desolate, graffiti-strewn ruins.
