Donna, A Proactive Personal Assistant App For iOS

by Kimber Streams

Donna Donna

Donna is a personal assistant iOS app by Incredible Labs named after the character Donna Moss from The West Wing. The app proactively provides you with information like what time you’ll have to leave your house or office to get to your next meeting, and will even tell you to bring an umbrella if it will be raining while you’re out. Donna will also notify you of and automatically join online conference calls, and will learn how to better inform you over time by monitoring your transportation habits and other preferences. The app is currently in private beta, and hopeful users can sign up to try it out on the app’s website, which says Donna will be available for download in the iTunes App Store “soon.”

Archersaurus

by jwz
You like Archer, right?

You like dinosaurs, right?

Well here's the pilot episode of Archer where the part of Sterling Archer is played by a velociraptor. And of course he talks only in guttural shrieks. Don't be silly. Velociraptors can't talk.

This is even better than the version of Galaxy Quest dubbed into the alien language.

I've also heard that there's a version of Mars Attacks without any of the CGI, so everyone's just running around freaking out about hallucinations that we can't see.

Previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously.

Teatanic Unsinkable Tea Infuser, Based on the Titanic

by Justin Page

Teatanic Unsinkable Tea Infuser

ThinkGeek has released the Teatanic Unsinkable Tea Infuser as a “silicone tribute to the Titanic.” It is made to look as if a tiny Titanic-like ship were sinking in your tea cup. It’s available to purchase online. We have previously written about a similar product designed by Gordon Adler named the TEA.Tanic.

Movie Poster Mashup of Star Wars: Episode VII & Little Miss Sunshine

by Justin Page

Little Miss Star Wars

Los Angeles-based artist Josh Lange has created an excellent mashup movie poster design that combines imagery from the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII and the poster from the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine. This mashup works great on so many levels, but mainly because both films are written by screenwriter Michael Arndt.

Here is the original Little Miss Sunshine poster:

Group Looking to Build a Massive Installation of London’s Iconic Structures at Burning Man

by Rusty Blazenhoff

UK-based En!gma Crew are hoping to bring “LondonBRC,” a large-scale interactive installation to the 2013 Burning Man festival. They plan to build representations of the following iconic structures of London: House of Commons, Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, and Tower of London. They are currently seeking funding through an Indiegogo campaign and as they are a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization, donations are tax-deductible.

Tier 1. Phase 1. One of the most exciting aspects of these structures and our first phase of the project will be a fully functioning, free standing House of Commons, to be used for both planned and open discussions & forums by all, to discuss any relevant topics, ranging from world matters to topics within Burning Man itself.

Tier 2 (Phases 1-2). Phase 2: Houses of Parliament. Designed as a 4-story structure, incorporating the remaining elements of our Houses of Parliament, with Ye Olde Ale House , a working indoor Theatre/Cinema, art rooms and corridors lined with portraits of famous Royals & characters from British history, all donated by artists from around the world.

Tier 3 (Phases 1-3). Phase 3: Tower Bridge will connect both The Houses of Parliament and Tower of London on the 1st floor. The bridge itself will also showcase performance art incorporating a number of different artists and groups on the Playa.

Tier 4 (Phases 1-4). Phase 4: Tower of London will be home to a dungeon, theatrical style brothel, a history room telling tales of the Tower of London and other historical facts and photos. The Tower will also be designed with a flat roof to be used a large viewing platform.

Google Brings Street View to Four of the World’s Great Mountains

by EDW Lynch

Google Street View Mountains

Yesterday Google announced that panoramic Street View imagery is now available for four of the world’s great mountains: Everest, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, and Mount Elbrus. The mountains are four of the Seven Summits—the highest mountains in each of the seven continents. Google employees captured the imagery on a series of mountaineering expeditions using a lightweight tripod and camera setup that is normally used in the company’s Business Photos program. As part of the expeditions they also captured beautiful panoramic imagery of the surrounding areas. See this Wired gallery for more photos from the project.
