Aziz Ansari Getting Invited to Tyrese’s Personal Benihana Restaurant Has Moved Me

by Marie Lodi
IKEA Monkey

1) This is amazing and I need to make more money. This just sounds like a fun and totally frivolous way to spend money but also sounds totally practical? Kind of? Like, people build huge pizza ovens, why not your own hibachi? 2) I do love Tyrese and 3) Aziz's brother is named Aniz and this news just made my day

Aziz Ansari is pretty much having the greatest week ever. First, his hit Netflix show Master of None won Best Comedy at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Secondly, Ansari got to experience a longtime fantasy of his—the chance to dine at Tyrese Gibson’s personal, in-home, Benihana-style restaurant. This is a very real thing and it is called Gibsihana.

The number of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally is at its lowest in more than a decade and, for the first time in years, has probably dropped below 11 million.

New Cinnamon Bun Oreos are Here

by Q
IKEA Monkey

Maybe yes?

Cinnamon Bun is the latest new flavor for Oreo cookies and are available now for a limited time.

The new cookies feature cinnamon cookie wafers and cinnamon bun-flavored creme. They come in 12.2-oz packages and can be found nationally for about $2.99 (may vary).

If you're having problems finding them, they're also being sold on Amazon but the price is rather high and they won't be stocked until January 26, 2016 apparently (maybe the price will go down by then since it looks to be from Amazon directly rather than a third party seller).

The brand has also brought back last year's Red Velvet Oreo cookies (you can read my previous review of them here), which are also available nationally for a limited time (No shortage of these on Amazon where you can buy them in lots of 12 packages).

Wendy's Testing Black Bean Burger

by Q
IKEA Monkey

Wendy's does fast food pretty well. I'd be interested in seeing this roll out. More places should have vegetarian options other than fries.

Wendy's is currently testing their new vegetarian Black Bean Burger featuring a black bean patty and a multigrain bun in three select markets: Salt Lake City, UT; Columbus, OH; and Columbia, SC.

The sandwich consists of a black bean patty, pepper jack cheese, tomato, spring mix, and parmesan ranch sauce on a toasted multigrain bun.

The black bean patty's main ingredients include black beans, wild rice, farro, onions, brown rice, carrots, quinoa, corn, green bell peppers and red bell peppers, with seasoning from red wine vinegar, chili peppers, cumin, sea salt, oregano and cilantro.

Rather than on a grill, the patty is cooked in an oven, which also keeps it from contacting the grill used for hamburger patties.

The multigrain bun features nine different grains and seeds including sesame seeds, red quinoa, and rolled oats.

How the U.S. Spy Satellite Program Chose This Hilariously Scary Earth-Eating Octopus as Its Logo

by Andy Cush
IKEA Monkey

holy shit, I saw a guy wearing this badge on a jacket the other night at the train station.

Perhaps you remember a time, two years ago, when the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office released its new mission logo, an enormous tentacled monster covering the earth with its sucker-lined legs. Perhaps it reminded you of a comic-book villain from your youth. Perhaps you were only vaguely familiar of the NRO before then, and have since come to think of them only as “the scary octopus guys.” Now, thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request by security researcher Runa Sandvik, highlighted at MuckRock today, we know a bit more about how the scary octopus logo came to be.

Newswire: Grimes’ new video lures in the nerds, then forces them to dance

by William Hughes
IKEA Monkey

I love this

Four months after releasing the pop explosion of Art Angelsour fourth favorite album of 2015—onto the world, Canadian artist Grimes has deployed a new music video in support of the album. This time, she’s taken a grab bag of nerd-heavy pop culture references and memes—superheroes, Mad Max, Law & Order, and Dark Souls, just to name a few—loaded them into a shotgun, and fired them (along with a bunch of random cosplay clothes) at the screen, while the electronic-heavy “Kill V. Maim” plays underneath. We can only assume this is part of some kind of elaborate plan to tempt nerds onto the dancefloor, where their frail, weak bodies will be subjected to the song’s endlessly danceable rhythm. (Or Grimes just took a bunch of crap she liked and tossed it in a video, along with a bunch of dancers who look like they come ...

The Rock Has Been Named The World’s Top International Movie Star

by Danielle Matheson
IKEA Monkey

of my HEART

Only way to start this post is with THANK YOU. WORLD'S #1 INTERNATIONAL BOX OFFICE STAR. I was blessed with this title in 2013 and now again in 2015. $1.48billion is a lot of revenue to generate in our business in only one year, BUT it's also the important reminder that regardless of what we achieve in life, we always gotta keep striving for more, staying hungrier than the rest and being grateful around every corner. This cool global achievement doesn't happen without my amazing family, management, agents, attorneys, publicists, financial management, studio partners, fellow actors, Team Rock and the final two deserving personal shout outs – my dog #HobbsTheBeast and you… THE greatest f*cking fans in the world. Stay hungry and keep working your ass off because one day I want to see the news write a cool report about you and YOUR accomplishments. #LetsGetToWork #ChaseYourGreatness #SevenBucksProductions #1WorldWide #TimeForACheatMeal 👊🏾💯

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been named the world’s Top International Movie Star by Deadline.com. The Rock dominated this category back in 2013, slipped out of first place for a year, and then came roaring back with a combined box office earnings of $1.48 billion. That’s a little more than one Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Johnson took to Instagram to celebrate:

The Rock has a number of films in the pipeline, including two Journey to [Someplace] sequels, a Fast and Furious sequel, Disney’s Moana, and, of course, Baywatch. WWE will also be looking to capitalize on this (and also make up for their injury-riddled current roster) in April when he’ll appear at WrestleMania 32.

I know we’re all very impressed by him being in roughly seven billion movies a year, but I’m way more curious about that hashtag cheat meal. I mean, he legitimately eats ten pounds of food a day when he sticks to his diet, how on Earth could he possibly eat more??

Attack The Block (2011)

When The A.V. He appeared in the miniseries revival of 24, was being considered for the new Terminator movie, and there was even talk of him appearing in the upcoming Star Wars movie. If you're keeping tabs at home, this is the third video I've posted to kottke.org featuring self-destructing washing machines. While not quite as good as this one -- "it seems as though the washer is attempting to turn into the Picasso version of itself" -- there's a sublime moment where this chaotic neutral washing machine seemingly defies gravity by hanging in the air like Michael Jordan.

Melissa McCarthy is seriously channeling Kate Middleton with her face and hair, and something else entirely with that dress, which looks very pretty in style but the pattern is insane.

Cross the Critics’ Choice Awards off your calendar and count yourself one more baby-step closer to the long, grueling k-hole that is the Academy Awards broadcast: we’re bringing this sucker home. Sunday night’s event brought out a gaggle of A-listers, perhaps because it’s the only remaining awards show still willing to honor the “Best Reality Show Host” award to James “Actor’s Studio” Lipton. Who says the world doesn’t need critics?
