A Democratic state lawmaker says she's "deeply, deeply sorry" for her drunken driving arrest following a crash that injured her, another driver and bicyclist last week.  Naomi Gonzalez of El Paso crashed her BMW into another car, which then hit a cyclist before dawn Thursday. Gonzalez and two others were treated for minor injuries.  She addressed the House on Monday, saying she was "grateful no one was seriously injured."  Gonzalez's voice cracked as she apologized and said "nothing like this" would happen again. She thanked her colleagues for their "understanding."  Lawmakers responded with a standing ovation and some gave her warm hugs and high-fives. Flowers were also left on Gonzalez's desk in the chamber.

Taking their cues from direct-to-DVD action movies, two inmates broke out of a Quebec prison today by climbing a rope to a hijacked helicopter hovering above the jail's yard. Quebec provincial police later arrested three people 30 miles from St. Jerome prison, including one of the inmates, 36-year-old Benjamin Hudon-Barbeau. The other escaped inmate, 33-year-old Danny Provencal, is currently "surrounded," according to police. More »

This has got to be the most explicit and NSFW of all oddities discovered on Google Streetview. A prostitute giving a hand job to a "bloke" (that's British for, "prostitute customer" ) in a back alley in Manchester, which seems like a lovely town, by the way. Google took down the images soon after they were spotted by the Google Sightseeing blog, but the incident was memorialized by a troll who renamed the alley "Hand Job Alley" on Google Maps (also removed.) This isn't Photoshopped. Furniture designer Ferruccio Laviani created this hand-carved storage unit so that it appears that you're looking at a warped image. Could you have this in your home without it driving you completely nuts?

Laviani works for furniture design house Fratelli Boffi, and created this piece, titled "Good Vibrations," for the 2013 Furniture Exhibition. The unit is designed to be disorienting (which it is) as well as comforting. (Perhaps in the same way a well worn video cassette is comforting?) Fratelli Boffi stresses the contrast of the piece, that it represents deformity and incredible craftsmanship at the same time. But I can't look at it without feeling that something has gone very much awry with reality, and that perhaps we're all living in a simulation after all.

Until now, there just hasn't been a suitable place to pick up a pair of snazzy Vault 101 sneakers or a tasteful lithograph of the Skyrim landscape. Bethesda has solved that problem with a brand new online store, hocking wares that run the gamut from t-shirts to that recently announced and expensive Dragonborn statue.

The store also hosts Elder Scrolls merch, Dishonored pendants, and a nearly convincing Vault-Tec work shirt - you know, in case you pick up that quest to infiltrate a robot manufacturing plant.
