If you don’t make it to the dance break then you are making a terrible mistake.

As some of you may remember, George got this text from his boss on tuesday night. Like you, we have been scratching our heads all day trying to decipher it.
What could this mean? What message was he sending to his wife? Is she in trouble? Was he ordering dinner?
This is the best that we have come up with:
Nick
STORY:
A young chick sees a princess and falls in love with her. Unfortunately, this princess has eyes for another. She is in love with another, older, stronger, more popular High School chicken. Unfortunately, this chicken does not love the princess. This chicken just loves to party.
MEANING:
George’s Boss wants to remind his wife that even the younger, uncool chicken will one day be in high school. He will also be as strong and as cool as the older chicken. But this younger chicken, instead of loving to party, would have loved her all along and had eyes for only her! Basically, he is telling her that she needs to be patient. She wants the best things for their family, but he knows that these things take time and they are not worth just chasing, lest you forget about the things in life worth knowing and cultivating now.
George
STORY:
Princess meets infant chicken. Princess falls in love with infant chicken. Princess and chicken allow their love to foster. They celebrate their first chicken-human hybrid birth with a party.
MEANING:
My Boss is drunk.
Please, help us get to the bottom of this.

To George: YO, have you seen Zooey Deschanel without bangs?!
Who the fuck is this replicant?
LindsaycdavisonYAY congrats on tablet! that's huge!!

In the States we tend to think of Vancouver as something like BC’s answer to San Francisco, or the Hollywood to Toronto’s New York. The reality, of course, is a little more complicated than any of these shorthand renderings. It’s a unique mix: Northwest beauty, West Coast mellowness, a dash of film-industry glamour, and a certain individualistic spirit that’s common to places settled by adventurers. The best way to get a handle on Vancouver’s character is to visit; and while every visit is unique, we’ve put together a little tasting menu, offering three ways to do it.
THE BURRARD
Arrive in your own car; this is a classic mid-century motor lodge, and it still looks the part. These days you’ll park underground, as the central courtyard is now a raised garden terrace, ringed by colorful rows of guest room doors. What’s behind those doors? Simple, stylish rooms — basic by boutique standards, but far better than you’d expect at the Burrard’s price point. In-room amenities include 42-inch HDTVs and automatic espresso makers, which, along with the hotel’s own ground-floor café, ought to be enough to get you started before you rent a bike and hit the streets. Try the exquisite espresso at Revolver in Gastown and consider pausing street-side for aJapadog — more or less exactly what it sounds like — before beginning your caffeine-fueled ride along the Stanley Parkseawall.

Lately we can see more and more of these lovely black and gold hammered iron pendant lights.

You can find them in different sizes and shapes as well. I think they are especially beautiful above a table or better when there are several of these pendant lamps above a kitchen island like the picture just above that I saw last week in Albertina's post on Heart of Gold and Luxury. So I did not resist and I decided to do this DIY!

To do this I first had to find a hammered metal basis if possible with the same color to avoid having to repaint. You will see that the pendant lamp I made is similar to the one you can see just above on the right.

As usual a small turn visit to Ikea and I found everything I needed!
For this very simple DIY you will need:
- An Angenäm bowl from Ikea (€ 19.95)
- A light cord set also available in Ikea, name Hemma (3.99 €)
- A light bulb
Equipment:
- Drill
- A hole saw

You first have to make a hole with the hole saw on the bottom of the bowl. The diameter of the hole saw I used is 45 mm, it matches the diameter of the electric mount that will be inserted later. If you use a different cord set simply adapt the diameter of your hole saw.

Then put the electric mount or cord set and fix it by screwing from the inside

Put your light bulb and that's it, your pendant lamp is over! Now you only have to hang it wherever you want. I told you that it was very easy and in addition it is also quick to make. A pretty pendant lamp for less than 24 € so why do without it ... If you have a kitchen island or a long table, do not hesitate to make several of these to hang side by side.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Burrard adds Andy Warhol to its art collection
The Burrard hotel in downtown Vancouver has added a very special new treasure to its art collection with a limited edition diptych of Andy Warhol’s iconic “Marilyn Monroe” (the likes of which has been seen exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum) displayed on Alien Workshop skateboards inside the hotel lobby.
With its signature garden courtyard and retro West Coast style, the Burrard first opened in 1956 when the “Burrard Motor Inn” joined the neon-clad glitz that characterized much of downtown Vancouver until the mid 1970s. At its peak, there was one neon sign for every 18 residents in the city, making Vancouver the neon sign capital of Canada. Dating back to the early 1960s, the Burrard’s classic neon sign is among the last ones left standing today.
This exhibition of limited edition boards is on display in the lobby at The Burrard and has been brought to you as a collaboration between: The Burrard x Color Magazine x Supra Distribution x Alien Workshop x the Andy Warhol Foundation.
Go check it out for yourself and tag it in a photo!

LindsaycdavisonI feel like coachella is a place where people who dress weird go...oh wait...or is that LA?
From “Going to Cochella? You’re a Loser and Part of the Problem and Probably Fat” by Luke O’Neil.
I don’t usually enjoy people who write articles that intentionally want to poke and prod at others and then place their finger in their cultural scab wound. They want seem cooler and hip than you for enjoying something that most blue-blooded Americans enjoy.
That being said: Screw music festivals and screw your face of disgust when I tell you that I would rather eat a pack of glass lightbulbs than attend one.
Never have I had a moment of nostalgic lust wishing I had been at the original Woodstock. To me, it would have been horrible. Cochella would be worse and it is in LA.
This quote speaks to me.

Lindsaycdavisoninteresting...i thought the same thing. someone updated their profile pic in the midst of the boston posts on FB and I was like WTF, how could you do that at time like this?? but it's true, it's life.
I observed something today that I found interesting.
While reports poured in from Boston, there were a lot of people who started complaining about brands who were posting anything online that wasn’t related to the bombings. First of all, the idea that anyone should spend more than a single keystroke addressing social media hires mid-crisis is an interesting one. But really, what’s the ideal? That brands stop posting anything at all during a scary news story? Really, I asked myself this. I asked myself this because I was refreshing my tumblr dashboard looking for updates about the story and becoming frustrated with the non-Boston posts that were still being published.
It was then that I realized that the horror of the Boston stories today were actually made more horrific by being juxtaposed to the normal, everyday shit. Too often, I think, we get caught up in trying to make the internet be a completely tailored experience. We unfollow people who we disagree with on the whole, we tend to gravitate towards people who share our opinions and fall into similar mood patterns, and in the case of today, we get mad at people who don’t turn off their queued posts during a tragedy. But just as the former keeps us from experiencing the internet in ways that makes us come to better understanding of the world as it exists outside of our head, wanting a dashboard full of Boston posts today would have bypassed what could be considered the hardest part of dealing with a day like today. It’s the thought that tragedies like this happen within a world full of normal things like people telling jokes to each other, sharing recipes, or eating McDonalds. In trying to lock down our internet into “crisis-mode,” we binge on news, grisly images, we start reblogging police directives from thousands of miles away, or listing places to donate blood. These are all good things! I mean, they are good to a point. One could argue that the news did just an OK job at reporting facts today, one could express dismay that grisly images were posted unexpectedly for no reason other than the (extremely lazy, unwise, and ridiculously self-righteous) reason that it’s for journalistic integrity, one could argue that it’s probably not smart to blind-reblog police directives that may be outdated (or completely false).
But don’t you see? We are still mostly helpless. Why? It’s because the world isn’t tailored for this kind of hurt. Though we can try to curate a news feed that perfectly reports on this news free of distraction, we cannot get past the reality that tragedies happen unexpectedly amongst the best and most innocuous things that life offers. So how do we cope with the crazy thought that one day a bomb of some kind might go off in our life? What will happen then? Certainly something deeper than just a day full of interesting and moving news stories. So how do we prepare for that?
Well, I have my way. And I’m sure you have yours. I just know that it doesn’t start with telling anyone how they should or shouldn’t be on a day like today. That’s probably the first step.
Lindsaycdavison@andrew...it's like sort of a mix between bali and muskoka
It's already Friday but I could not let you leave for the weekend without making you a pretty present ...

So welcome to this house that makes us travel back in time. A Decor by Jonathan Adler that takes us back to the 60-70's with colors, lot of ceramics particular on the walls, furniture and objects in retro style. These photos are great and it's not surprising when you know that they were taken by Richard Powers which I already mentioned a few weeks ago here. For my part, I love the quirky and bold style of this interior although I do not think I could live there all the time but it would be perfect for a holiday or a weekend.

But I could easily see myself on that hanging chair by the pool ... After these few nice pictures, I just have to wish you all a great weekend!
XO
