THIS WEEK'S TORAH PORTION |
In this Torah portion, Jacob favors Joseph, and this angers Joseph's brothers. Joseph has dreams in which he predicts reigning over his brothers, provoking them further. They decide to sell Joseph into slavery in Egypt. Tamar disguises herself as a prostitute and sleeps with her father-in-law, Judah. In Egypt, the wife of Joseph's owner tries to seduce Joseph, and when he rejects her, she accuses him of trying to rape her and has him sent to prison. In prison, Pharaoh's baker and butler have dreams, and Joseph interprets them correctly. |

From a poster made during 1971, this may in fact be The Old North Church, the tallest building in America before 1809 when the Park Street Church was built, it then becoming the tallest. I belive both have clocks. I asked a member from M.I.T and he thought it was Park Street Church and it afforded me the chance to tell him that the Internet Archive hists all Dewey Decinal categories of out of print books by using keyword search, not just "Christianity", but also "Thermodynamics".
She refers to it as her "antique desk".

Donna is shelving books.
For anyone interested in Ben Franklin, his parents are buried at the church. The graveyard was here before the church structure, which was a granary that held gunpowder during the revolution. The expression "fire and brimstone" came from our church, it being where the colonists stored gunpowder during the AMerican Revolution.

Tommorow is our thirteenth Anniversary. I took Donna to lunch on Temple Street again to a restararaunt we go to once a month and decided to take a short cut across Boston Common and down Beacon Hill. Once a month I also aske her if she would like to visit the Old State House. Today, she passed the entrace to Massachusetts State House and asked if we could go inside. We've been to the Boston Antheneum, and there were marble statues inside the State House as well. She particularly like a statue of a nurse treating a wounded soldier (I have had a coronary bypass several years ago) and my favorite was of John Adams.
Happy Anniversay Donna and Thank You for a wondeful date this afternoon.

Buster Keaton and Eddie Cline began the decade by directing two reel comedies, including The High Sign", "The Boat", "The Playhouse" and "Hard Luck" during 1921.

I took the time in the church library while Donna was reshelving books to look for the Articles of Faith from when the church was established. Between services, I said "hello" to Mark,the present minister, who was busy and remarked that we still use the Articles of Faith today, "I know that well." The first minister of the Park Street Church,Boston was Edward Griffin, also the first Phi Beta Kappa student at Yale, and apparently Donna was Phi Beta before I met her. His particular theme was preaching against something referred to as the New Divinity. I was surfing today and found that we are listed by the National Historical Park Service along with our adjacent Granary Burial Ground. The president at the time was James Madison. Below is a historical perspective.

ps. there weren't many out of print anniversary cards, but I hope you like the photography.
I owed you a pizza date from Memorial Day, which meant alot under the circumstances, so thank you for going with me to the Atlantic Ocean last night for Fried Clams (now that I've already had Fried Oysters) to watch the wind surfing in the cold rain and and thank you for going tolunch at the cafe (ham and cheese creoes/banana pancakes just so you'll remember) off Tremont Street. Glad there was thunder and lightning twelve years later.

Donna has been asking all summer to go on the Swan Boats; her church is at the top of Boston Common and the Public Garden is at the bottom, so after lunch we went for my Sixtieth Birthday. Donna is Sixty Two.
She had to go into the Ritz Carlton for a minute, so I photographed one of its paintings. The hotel was built in 1927.
The Swan Boats, or the Hydrocycle rather, was originally powered by the bicycle and pedalled across the water when introduced in the late nineteenth century.

We were looking for a restaurant and the cab dispatch told us there was in fact one closer to our apartment than the one that had recently closed. For her birthday, she had a computer class, in which she was given a new computer, she lost twenty pounds and we celebrated by going to dinner when, after dinner, I looked up and noticed we were right near the Bunker Hill Monument, our having come from a different direction.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DONNA
and I look forward to our thirteenth anniversary this summer.
Living on the thirteenth floor, I can see the monument, the entire monument, clearly from our living room, The Boston skyline has almost changed dramaticlly while we've been together.
Evacuation Day in New York City is on November 25, 1783, and also marks the British departure. (Donna's father went to NYU) Happy St. Patrick's Day.
ps. I ordered fish chowder for myself but she was hungary and couldn't wait for dinner, so I gave her mine untill my seafood came later, which was half the fun of an enjoyable evening- I was glad she liked dinner after our skipping lunch during a busy weekend.

It seems like everything has been put back to where it was- a new minister introduced herself and I spoke with our newly installed Pastor, but there are certainly some familiar faces this week.

Donna was librarian today at The Park Street Church on Boston Common. A new minister has been installed since we were last there and we had the chance to meet him today. It has been over a year since we have attended due to CoVid 19.

The computer needed to be recharged when the storm first began, so please allow whatever photos I could get. The rainbow was huge, spanning from the Mystic River Bridge and the Bunker Hill Monument to the Prudential and John Hancok. I'm fifty nine today. She's having scallops again and I'm wearing the new shirt she gave me.

D. W. Griffith in 1924 directed the film “America” and “Isn’t Life Wonderful” during 1924.

I honestly had to dust the television after coming home from church, but please look and the previous entry to see how its grown- it found the little "love" pillow Donna's grandmother had given her - after sprawling across the floor, over a plastic storage bin and up the side of the tv stand for over five feet, most likely seven; it has sixty five leaves across for two of its ten "vines", most likely one hundread leaves, more likely over one hundread and ten or one hundread and twenty.

I wanted to photograph the tulips I brought Donna during church- I had to run an errand and we are here during three church services- from outside looking into the church,but as you can tell, the reflection precludes it. The otherside of the building looks on to the adjacent churchyard with tulips on the graves of Ben Franklin's parents where I "reflect" every week (diligently) for those who have passed.

Tom Mix was credited as having written, directed and starred onscreen in the 1915 film "Sage Brush Tom", produced by Selig Polyscope. Apearing in the one reel film were actresses Goldie Colwell and Victoria Forde.
