For the 2015 season, four players each week are awarded the US Coachways Offensive Play of the Week, the Innova Pulsar Throw of the Week, the Friction Gloves Catch of the Week and the Defensive Play of the Week.

US Coachways Offensive Play of the Week

McGinn caps off a Stags offensive stampede with a one-handed layout grab in the back of the end zone. He made sure his other hand touched down before the back line to ensure his catch counted.

Innova Pulsar Throw of the Week

Josh Markette | Boston Whitecaps

With seconds ticking away at the end of the quarter, Markette finds (who else) Jeff Graham in the opposite corner of the end zone. In his postgame interview, Markette didn’t know who he was throwing to, but he knew exactly where the disc was landing.

Friction Gloves Catch of the Week

Rookie sensation Tyler Chan makes this layout bid look routine. He’s been making plays like this for years with Tuffs University where he’s up for the Callahan #CallaCHAN.

Defensive Play of the Week

Major League Ultimate has officially launched their new fantasy ultimate page, allowing fans to create fantasy ultimate teams and leagues for the 2015 MLU season.

It is easily the most ambitious fantasy ultimate platform released to date and, in many ways, mirrors the experience found in other fantasy sports, like football and baseball.

The portal offers a live draft, the ability to add and drop players throughout the season, seamless lineup changes, and player rankings. In our initial tests, we did have to combat some bugginess with the beta application, but MLU’s fantasy team is responsive and helpful as they clean up the occasional issues.

What has yet to be shown, but could be one of the biggest innovations, is real-time statistics updates during games, showing users exactly how many points their players have scored. That is a standard feature in ESPN, Yahoo, and other fantasy sports leagues that could vastly improve the user experience in the MLU fantasy game.

While there are still some issues to be worked out, it is clearly a well-built fantasy application that could revolutionize fantasy ultimate. The MLU team is also hosting an AMA on Reddit to answer user questions this afternoon.

The photographic archives of the New York Police Department (NYPD) will soon be available online through an initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The pictures taken by detectives from the NYPD between 1914 and 1975 will be digitized, releasing to the public nearly 30,000 photos from the New York City Municipal Archives, including scenes of crimes, accidents or historical events… You can already have a look at the images here: NYC Municipal Archives.
