There's a cool Easter Egg in Google Voice Search: if you say "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right", Google will answer: "Cheat mode unlocked, unlimited free Google searches". This is the Konami cheat code originally used for Nintendo games.

You can try this Easter Egg in the Google Search app for Android and iOS and in the Google Search site if you use Chrome for desktop.


The Konami code was also used as an Easter Egg in Google Reader, Google Docs (create a new document and press "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right", then type ba and press Enter), Play Games and even for the Chromebook Pixel.

Flappy Bird captivated the hearts (and phones) of many in its short time on the Google Play Store, but its time came to an end when its creator, Dong Nguyen, took it down for being too addictive and not being able to cope with all the hate and death threats. This was in spite of making an estimated $50,000 a day from ad money. We couldn’t blame the guy, as he didn’t exactly sign up for fame and expect such hate and backlash from users and media alike.

However, he has now tweeted that Flappy Bird will be coming back to the iOS App Store (and most likely the Play Store). Unfortunately, he also stated it won’t be happening soon. We can only speculate why it isn’t happening soon. Is he waiting for the hype to die down, to release the game into a more quiet and less obsessed fanbase? Or is this all a publicity stunt? I won’t pretend to know, but it’s interesting to think about.

Anyway, Flappy Bird is confirmed to be coming back to us. I don’t feel any single way about this, because I wasn’t obsessed with the game in the first place, but I can imagine a lot of people will be very happy about this. What about you? Leave a comment telling us your thoughts!

Google is a generous overlord when it comes to cloud storage. Google Drive offers 15GB for free, which is more than its competitors, and it’s used across many of your services. That includes Gmail, Google Drive, Google+ Photos, and more. But what if you need more than 15GB to store all of your important files? Google offers paid storage tiers, and starting today, they’re far cheaper than they used to be.

If you want 100GB, which is a very large amount of cloud storage, you used to have to pay $4.99 per month. That price already undercut Google’s competitors, but as of today, the cost drops down to a measly $1.99 per month. What about 1TB of storage? One thousand whole gigabytes? That previously cost $49.99 per month, but today it’s been reduced to just $9.99 per month. There are also plans with 10TB of storage and up starting at $99.99 if you need them, but the prices are amazing.

If you want to sign up for one of these discounted plans, you can head to the Google Drive storage settings and upgrade. But seriously, how awesome are these prices?

When the Google Street team swoops in to perform 360 degree tours of locations, they have to blur out faces. However, if people are wearing masks, it takes care of the permissions/privacy violation issue. 4:30 Boardroom Bar in Fort Lauderdale took advantage of this loophole and hosted a superhero event the day Google stopped by.

You can see the results on Street View! No one’s faces had to be blurred, and it ended up being a cool promotion for the bar. Give those folks a marketing award.

Mini Metro is an upcoming game in the style of Sim City, except you're only building subway lines.

Mini Metro is an upcoming minimalistic subway layout game. Your small city starts with only three unconnected stations. Your task is to draw routes between the stations to connect them with subway lines. Everything but the line layout is handled automatically; trains run along the lines as quickly as they can, and the commuters decide which trains to board and where to make transfers.

However the city is constantly growing, along with the transport needs of its population. How long can you keep the subway system running before it grinds to a halt?

Oh man, this is great fun for transportation nerds. Site says it'll be out in "early 2014" for PC, Mac, Linux, iPad, and Android. You can play an early version on the site or d/l an alpha version for OS X, Windows, or Linux.

Google Docs and the new version of Google Sheets now support add-ons. Just click the new Add-ons menu, select "Get add-ons" and install some of them. They're not browser extensions, they're just ways to add new features to Google Docs and Sheets. Some of them are developed by Google, while others are developed by third-parties.

"Once you install an add-on it will become available across all of your documents or spreadsheets and you can start using it right away," informs Google. You can always find them in the Add-ons menu.

There are add-ons that translate the selected text, find synonyms, create a table of contents, insert maps, create charts from spreadsheets, generate bibliography, check your writing for consistency, add mail merge to Google Docs, print address labels, remove duplicates, import Google Analytics data and more.



Here's the Translate add-on in action. Select some text, go to the Add-ons menu, click Translate and Start. You can select the destination language in the sidebar that shows up. For some reason, only a few destination languages are supported.

A couple weeks ago, we got our first look at the new costume for The Flash but it was just a taste.

This reveal from Warner Bros. Television gives us a full body look at Grant Gustin as The Flash.

The iconic costume was designed by 3-time Academy Award winner Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costume for Arrow.
