El episodio "Something Ricked This Way Comes" de la imprescindible serie Rick and Morty es memorable por diversas razones. Una de ellas es el perturbador momento en que Rick nos presenta a una de sus creaciones: un pequeño robot cuyo único propósito es "pasar la mantequilla".

La escena es emotiva porque podemos contemplar con todo detalle el momento exacto en el que el pequeño droide adquiere consciencia de su triste destino y pronuncia desolado la frase "Oh my god", mientras baja apesadumbrado la "cabeza".

El usuario de reddit andredotcom, un tipo especialmente sádico, ha encontrado el método de satisfacer su perversión tecnofílica fabricándose su propio Robot Que Pasa La Mantequilla.

Ha utilizado un mini motor, una impresora 3D, un "ispy Mini Wilreless Spy Tank Rc Car" y una goma de pollo. También dice que publicará un video en el que detalla el proceso de fabricación para que todos podamos tener uno en casa, pero, la verdad, creemos que miente.

No hay que tener miedo a los robots. Es lo que Frauke Zeller y David Harris quisieron transmitir con esta encantadora experiencia. Construyeron un robot autónomo que consiguió cruzar Canadá de punta a punta haciendo autoestop. Desde Halifax hasta Victoria en un trayecto que duró un mes.

El protagonista de la historia, Hitchbot, parece que fue programado para hacer amigos; su cuerpo metálico terminó repleto de de firmas y mensajes amistosos de las docenas de conductores que se encontró durante la travesía.

La mala noticia es que los dueños de Hitchbot, excitados por el logro conseguido, pretendieron que el pequeño androide continuara su viaje por las carreteras de Estados Unidos y, bueno, paso lo que tenía que pasar... un desalmado no pudo reprimir el impulso de destrozarlo (posiblemente después de violarlo) y lo abandonó, inservible, en la cuneta de una carretera de Philadelphia.

Una curiosa experiencia, aunque con triste final, que nos hace olvidar por unos minutos la cruel e inminente realidad que responde al nombre de Skynet.

We had a poll here at TBS, and according to its results, beautiful photographic memories make the best souvenir possible of a trip, and taking nice photos tops the to-do list of many for their travels. So, no more magnets or souvenirs needed… The photos taken with our smartphones have substituted them completely! As we did for New York, we also made a list of the most beautiful places to take photos in Paris — so with no further ado, let’s go straight to the point! You will probably (rightfully) be thinking that anywhere in City of Lights can make a beautiful backdrop for your photos, but you still may not have thought of some of the locations we came up with. Laddie John Dill has been creating masterpieces since the 1970’s and has been a central figure of what is known the Light & Space movement throughout his career. Working with elements such as light, concrete, glass, metal and sand to create vast installations, sculptures and wall pieces, Dill’s creations are distinctly earthy and perfectly minimalist.

There is something so uniquely Californian about his work which explores how light, space and geometric shapes affect not only the environment, but also the perception of those looking… And I for one, can’t seem to look away..x

The weather in Paris is as unpredictable as Parisians are: you leave in the morning with perfect sunshine, and might be looking for shelter from a huge storm just a few hours later. Despite this, Paris is still one of the most incredible, beautiful cities in the world, it’s even beautiful under the rain, and there’s plenty of stuff to do indoors. So, what should you do if you’re in Paris on a romantic getaway, or perhaps visiting with friends or on a business trip, and suddenly find yourself right in the middle of a massive storm? Fear not, we have good places to go in this case, too!

Centre Pompidou Museum
This contemporary art museum is incredible, with our without the rain. The permanent collection is very big and even just the building deserves a visit, as it’s an architectural masterpiece. The museum also houses very interesting temporary exhibitions: the current one features Matisse, and it will be on until January 2017.

What if we told you that Paris is amazing on the surface, but even more charming underground? You got it: visiting the oldest ossuary in the world will be like stepping back by 300 years. You shouldn’t just visit to see the graves of famous people, but also to understand how a city like Paris was designed. It’s an absolute must-see — don’t forget to buy your tickets online to avoid lines!

Galerie Vivienne (6 rue Vivienne)
We always try to come up with peculiar, not-so-obvious tips for our guides. There is so much more to Paris than Galeries LaFayette, actually, there are plenty of galeries with lots of character. We picked passage Vivienne because of its liberty architecture style, and its unique atmosphere that takes you back to the Belle Époque… As well as for its beautiful bookshops, flower stores and fashion boutiques, of course. It’s an enchanted corner that will make you forget the bad weather out there… But not on Sundays, when it’s closed!

Aquarium de Paris (5 avenue Albert de Mun)
Our other tip is this incredible aquarium, hosting a great variety of fish coming from the Mediterranean and as far away as the Pacific Ocean. If you are lucky, you might even catch one of their sensational underwater shows. On Sundays, this aquarium even turns into a brunch spot!

Crazy Horse (12 Avenue George V)
Right in the city center, this place has been very famous for its unconventional, unique shows ever since it first opened its doors. Today it’s mostly about beautiful women doing very fun — and just the right amount of sexy — dance performances. Include a night here during your stay in the City of Lights, it will make your trip unforgettable.

Hasta hace unos minutos, aquí estábamos orgullosos de la colección de hinchables que tenemos en nuestra tienda. Ya no. Hay que reconocerlo. Esto es incomparable e insuperable.

Son tantas las virtudes que adornan a esta maravilla que no sabríamos por donde empezar. Anotaremos asépticamente que se trata de un pub irlandés inflable, con sus paredes hinchables de ladrillo, su ventanas hinchables, su techo hinchable de típicas tejas rojas y su chimenea hinchable en el interior.

Puede alojar hasta 70 personas (estimamos que unas 50 si van muy borrachas) y es propiedad de los chicos de The Padding Wagon Pub, que la alquilan para hacer fiestas irlandesas en tu jardín o donde quieras que monten el chiringuito. Es importante tener en cuenta que, de momento, solo trabajan en la zona de Chicago.

Además del propio pub, también te traen mesas y sillas. Opcionalmente puedes contratar una banda musical irlandesa, catering con productos típicos y servicio cervecero a medida.

Las auténticas y exquisitas pizzas artesanales de Buoni forno de Pizze ahora también en la Encarnación, justo detrás de las Setas, con todas sus especialidades.

Hoy quiero hablar de uno de los grandes logros de la humanidad, la pizza. Y para ello, voy a centrarme en una de mis pizzerías favoritas de toda la ciudad, que por cierto no es un restaurante, ni mucho menos, sino un modesto local de pizza al corte, que debido a su éxito ha ido incorporando algunas mesitas, pero manteniendo su carácter auténtico. Me refiero a Buoni forno de Pizze.

Lo que empezó siendo poco más que un mostrador en la Alameda que sorprendía por la excelente calidad de su pizza casera, hoy cuenta ya con un segundo local, situado al comienzo de la calle Regina, justo detrás de las Setas.

Allí pueden saborearse algunas de las mejores pizzas de toda la ciudad, y es que su elaboración es totalmente artesanal, usando para la masa harinas biológicas molidas a la piedra natural que hacen que esta conserve todos sus nutrientes y dando lugar a unas masas crujientes y sumamente esponjosas al mismo tiempo.

Otro de sus secretos son los ingredientes, todos frescos y de primera calidad. Con ellos se crean combinaciones que se alejan por completo de lo que conocemos por pizza clásica aquí, pero que son bien conocidas en Italia.

Desde la pizza patatosa, que lleva patata cocida (sí, patata en la pizza), mozzarela fresca con denominación de origen y romero hasta la guanciale (una de mis favoritas), con calabaza al horno, guanciale romano, romero fresco y queso pecorino, todas sorprenden por su exquisito y sorprendente sabor.

Las pizzas se sirven al corte (cortes que puedes compartir porque son de bastante tamaño) y los precios son estupendos. Puedes tomarlas allí mismo en alguna de sus mesitas o pedirla para llevar.

Para acompañarlas tienen cervezas de importación y buenos vinos. Ah, y de postre tienen a veces unas mini tartitas de la nonna, que son un ES-PEC-TÁ-CU-LO.

La feria de Arte Contemporáneo, ARCO 2016, ya ha dado su pistoletazo de salida en Madrid. Desde ayer y hasta el próximo domingo se podrán contemplar y comprar cualquiera de las obras de arte que se exponen en Ifema. Este año, la feria ha decidido homenajearse a sí misma, creando 33 galerías dedicadas a mostrar sus 35 años de historia.

Así que los amantes del arte están de suerte porque podrán disfrutar de unos días de lo más inspiradores. Eso sí, hay que tener bien en cuenta los horarios de apertura y cuándo es posible acceder a las galerías. Ayer y hoy, la feria será exclusiva de profesionales del arte y el viernes y el sábado podrá acceder el público en general. Aunque hay que tener en cuenta que para entrar en ARCO 2016 habrá que abonar el precio de la entrada, 40 euros. Y si te gusta alguna de las obras que se exponen en cualquiera de las galerías es probable que el desembolso sea de miles y miles de euros.

Lo que veremos en ARCO 2016

Además de las 33 galerías que harán un repaso a la historia de la feria de arte contemporáneo más característica, habrá muchísimas más, hasta completar un total de 222. En ellas expondrán tanto artistas consagrados de los últimos tiempos como artistas emergentes. Estos últimos son los que venden mucho más económicas sus obras, ya que no existe una demanda previa. No obstante, no suelen ser demasiado baratas.

ARCO 2016 tendrá en su haber numerosas esculturas y pinturas de importante tamaño, caracterizándose por esto esta edición de la feria de arte. Hay que saber que este evento, lejos de ser una muestra de arte convencional, es un mercado ideal para la venta de arte. De hecho, sus responsables así lo afirman. Y es que la feria de arte contemporáneo, ARCO, supone el 60 % de las ventas de arte en España cada año. Además, hasta las instalaciones de Ifema se desplazará, en esta ocasión, 3.200 coleccionistas privados y unas 100 personas responsables de museos. Lo que está claro es que las galerías, marchantes y artistas, verán incrementados sus ingresos en solo cuatro días.

Si vas a pasarte por ARCO 2016, es muy probable que te topes con obras de arte reivindicativas o simples obras que pueden parecer sencillas y absurdas y luego alcanzan precios desorbitados. Y es que la mano que la toca también vale lo suyo. Veremos dónde está la controversia en esta edición de la feria.

Hoy hablamos de uno de los clásicos del tapeo sevillano, el bar restaurante Yebra sigue encabezando las listas de los mejores establecimientos gastronómicos de la ciudad.

Con el fin de contrastar mis opiniones y experiencias sobre tiendas, restaurantes y demás negocios sevillanos, suelo hacer sondeos con familiares, conocidos y amigos. Hablando de bares de tapas, siempre hay un nombre que aparece entre los mejores de la ciudad y podría ubicarlo en el apartado de "los clásicos", ese es Yebra.

Sin nunguna duda, Yebra merece encabezar las listas de los mejores bares y restaurantes por la calidad que lleva demostrando durante décadas, desde que este negocio familiar abriera sus puertas a comienzos de los sesenta.

Por su algo escondida ubicación, en el entorno de la Macarena, a Yebra solo acuden aquellas personas que saben a lo que van, a disfrutar de una propuesta gastronómica de gran calidad, que combina la cocina tradicional andaluza con una personal creatividad y maestría técnica.

A Yebra, puedes ir a tapear o a su zona de restaurante, y en ambas propuestas, una agradable experiencia está garantizada.

En su carta podemos encontrar platos como los rollitos de molleja de cordero al vino moscatel, la merluza con fetuccini nero di sepia, chocos confitados y salsa carbonara, el magret de pato con compota de manzana, migas y huevo de codorniz o el ajo blanco con boletus, sepia y crujiente de langostino.

Todo ello acompañado de buenos vinos y manzanilla en rama, y unos postres nada desdeñables.

Eso sí, a pesar del refinamiento de su cocina, Yebra sigue siendo un establecimiento bastante tradicional, así que no esperemos encontrar pizarras modernas o decoración de gastrobar.

Para tapear, los precios son bastante asequibles, teniendo en cuenta que las materias primas son de una gran calidad. Pero ojo, conviene llegar prontito porque suele llenarse enseguida.

La verdad, cada vez me da más pereza que la Navidad ya esté presente desde finales de octubre, y más por mi trabajo que debo comenzar a daros ideas con la suficiente antelación, por eso había decidido que hasta mediados de este mes en mi casa no se iba a respirar espíritu navideño.

Pero como sabéis las mamás, los peques lo viven todo con tanta ilusión que terminan por meternos prisa y aprovechando que estos días estoy un poco fuera de juego por una contractura en el cuello, han conseguido liar a su padre -me libré, jeje- y aunque ya me están dando la lata con que falta el Belén -que nunca ponemos-, el calcetín para los regalos y la decoración para su habitación y baño (XD), ya tengo montados el árbol, las luces y la corona navideña de la puerta principal.

Esta casa sueca de reducidas dimensiones es todo un ejemplo de elegancia y estilo. En realidad se trata de un único espacio cuyas diferentes estancias están perfectamente conectadas entre si. De este modo desaparecen las particiones innecesarias dado que se trata de una vivienda pequeña para dar fluidez y continuidad al espacio, dotando a éste de una mayor amplitud y, sobretodo, luminosidad. Me gusta mucho la calidez del ambiente, lo conseguidos que están los distintos espacios, los materiales elegidos (como es de bonito el papel del dormitorio!) y el juego de tonalidades.

Otra vivienda sueca que me ha conquistado. Esta vez además de por su luz, mobiliario, utilización de madera y distribución de espacios… (que no es poco) por el empleo de plantas y maceteros con encanto en prácticamente todas las estancias de la casa ¿Cómo es de bonito el centro de la cocina? En el salón de mi casa tengo una mesa antigua de madera decapada en blanco donde me gusta trabajar, más que nada porque es mi rincón preferido de la casa. La tengo también llena de flores y macetas, secas y naturales y me gusta el aire que dan a toda la estancia. Espero que os guste e inspire el post deco de hoy, besos y feliz sábado!

We got to step into the future last week. Literally. For the future of footwear will undoubtedly belong to 3D printed shoes, as previewed by adidas with their first attempt at custom fit 3D printed footwear: Futurecraft 3D.

The Futurecraft 3D was born out of a simple challenge within adidas: “create a world-first footwear product using the latest in 3D printing”. Made in partnership with 3D printing specialists, Materialise, the prototype is the first of the company’s ‘Futurecraft series’, a exploratory skunkworks initiative within the adidas formed to formulate novel solutions for fit and performance.

Futurecraft 3D is a prototype and a statement of intent. We have used a one-of-its-kind combination of process and material in an entirely new way. Our 3D-printed midsole not only allows us to make a great running shoe, but also to use performance data to drive truly bespoke experiences, meeting the needs of any athlete.

adidas and Materialise turned to modified thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), a material known for durable elasticity, high tear strength, and abrasion resistance for 3D printing their innovative latticed work sole. Laser sintering – where a laser is used to seal powder together into a 3D object – allowed their team a quick two week turnaround from prototyping to actual model on feet for testing. The resulting sole is intricate, yet airy.

adidas Footwear Development Manager Daniel Cocking notes the technology isn’t just an end to itself, with the footwear company envisioning the 3D printed technology becoming the possible foundation for something more fitting of the future: “Now that we had the prototype, we started to dream big. We all have different foot shapes, and we all have different running gaits. This makes buying a running shoe a tricky journey. By harnessing 3D printing technology, the ultimate goal of true product customization is closer than ever before. It’s a promise of a fast approaching revolutionary in-store experience, where your style of running could be analyzed and used to create a perfectly tailored functional product.”

The dream is to one day have customers step onto a treadmill and have their gait analyzed and a carbon copy 3D footscan of the runner’s own footprint reproduced accordingly.

So how do these future-crafted running shoes prototypes actually feel? The upper is supportive and snug, with a surprisingly stiff midsole revealing itself while at a standstill. The responsive nature of the TPU material only becomes evident itself only in movement, with a cushioned foot strike more on the stiffer end of the spectrum felt during short sprints. Our preview pair – prototypes – were not custom fit for my size 9 feet, but felt lightweight and ready for mileage, satisfyingly familiar to many of the previous adidas running shoes I’ve run in. Admittedly, considering the limited production and preliminary design of these shoes, I didn’t put heavy mileage on them (yet).

I can only hope one day soon we’ll all be running in shoes where 3D printing eliminates concerns about fit, support, and pressure points. The adidas Futurecraft 3D is definitely a promising start.

Inside what may be the prettiest bookstore in the world…

…is what has got to be one of the world's most beautiful staircases.

Not impressed? Look at it from this angle:

The bookstore's name is Livraria Lello, "Lello Bookstore" in Portugese, and it's located in Porto, Portugal's second-largest city.

It was designed in roughly 1906 by one Francisco Xavier Esteves. He was neither an architect nor an interior designer, but an engineer.

And it's no wonder: The thing is a structural marvel. From this angle below, look at how little support there is beneath the "wings," yet it's stood for over a century.

I would have trouble designing this in CAD, yet Esteves worked this out on pencil and paper.

You reckon he worked it out first in plan view, or elevation?

Although we’ve been seeing an increase in wooden bicycle concepts over the past few years, few have ever made it outside of the concept stage – and for many bicycle enthusiasts, this is for good reason. Despite the unarguable beauty of a handcrafted wooden bicycle frame, most designs have come across as purely that: aesthetics before function.

Aiming to make a more functional wooden bicycle frame with the potential for mass manufacturing, Amsterdam-based designer Paul Timmer has created a solid ash single speed cyclocross bicycle frame that he believes his strong enough to last the test of time similar to comparable metal single speed frames.

Titled “The Wooden Bike“, Timmer’s design is free from any veneer or plywood enhancements and focuses squarely on the natural materials that make up the build. Aside from the solid ash frame, the design also includes 3D printed aluminum components that are also of Timmer’s own design. According to Timmer, the natural properties of the wooden frame are able to absorb vibrations more effectively than more rigid frame materials. Additionally, Timmer has chosen to use a belt-drive system for propulsion that is not only lighter and more quiet than a metal chain, but also omits the need for grease which could easily damage the wood.

“I don’t use wood for some kind of temporary solutions, wood is the best construction material available,” says Timmer.

“It is the only construction material made by mother earth. this bike can be as strong as a steel one. but it has to be designed better than a steel bike. as always, the challenges are in the details.”

While the 11 KG bike may not hold up over time through multiple weather conditions and more aggressive terrains depending on your riding style, it’s hard to argue that as a simple summertime cruiser – it fits the bill.

Starting next month, some flat-pack college dorm furniture may be more design and environmentally-savvy than that table you bought last year that you swore would be handed down to your grandchildren. Thankfully, the flat-pack furniture in question won’t take too much of a dent out of your wallet in the case that you want to purchase it anyways.

Swedish furniture giant IKEA has recently unveiled a new range of furniture designs under their Home Smart collection that are not only among some of their best-looking designs to date but are also capable of wirelessly charging compatible smartphones.

Utilizing the wireless charging standard Qi – which currently has more than 80 compatible handsets and covers on the market – the new furniture pieces are the latest step that IKEA has taken towards making their business practices more environmentally-friendly. The move towards creating easily-accessible wireless charging decreases the need for chargers that are thrown away over time.

“A key principle that manufacturers of furniture with built-in wireless charging technology should consider is that the furniture is designed to be easy to disassemble for upgrade, reuse, repair or recycling,” said Julian Kirby of Friends of the Earth in an interview with the BBC.

“Disposable electric toothbrushes are one example of a terrible product design in those respects – it’s virtually impossible to separate out the tech from the batteries and plastic casing which means valuable and often toxic materials are dumped in landfill or burnt in incinerators.”

In total, the Home Smart collection will start with floor, table and work lamps before expanding into more traditional furniture items including bedside tables and also independent charging pads to add to existing pieces of furniture.

Although the company has an expansive catalog that spans multiple product categories, this is the first time they have announced a Smart Home product. As a part of their move into creating more complex designs, the designers have also considered the end of life of their Home Smart collection to keep in sync with their environmental goals; the Home Smart designs will be easy to disassemble and dispose of or reuse properly.

The Home Smart collection will go on sale in the UK and the USA in April of 2015.

Un café con encanto en la Alameda en el que tomar unos excelentes desayunos, unas tartas riquísimas para el postre o la merienda o un cóctel a la hora que quieras.

Una de las cosas que más echo de menos de cuando vivía en el centro es salir a desayunar en la Alameda. Levantarte tempranito en un día como este, en el que el sol nos anuncia que la primavera ya está cerca y sentarte en una de sus cafeterías a desayunar como una reina mientras te lees el periódico o una revista. Una cosa tan sencilla como esta es uno de los grandes placeres de la vida.


Si vosotros vivís por allí o no os da pereza acercaros para disfrutar de uno de estos desayunos (o meriendas o sobremesas o lo que queráis), hoy os quiero hablar de uno de esos cafés con encanto en los que se te pueden ir las horas entre café y café.

Me refiero a Gigante Bar, situado en la calle Calatrava, al lado de Sidonía y Duo Tapas. Es un café de esos que abren todo el día, en el que lo mismo puedes desayunar que hacer un brunch, tomar un postre después de comer, merendar o tomar una copa.


Los desayunos son estupendos, con zumos naturales, distintas variedades de cafés, tostadas con jamón, carne mechada, queso, mermelada o lo que elijas, muesli con yogurt, infusiones, cruasanes... En fin, una gran variedad para decidir, algo que me gusta mucho.

También tienen unas tartas caseras riquísimas: de queso, zanahoria, chocolate con galleta, brownies..., perfectas para merendar o para tomar el postre después de las tapitas por la Alameda. Puedes acompañar las tartas con unos batidos riquísimos o con una copa, porque hacen unos cócteles estupendos, desde los clásicos gin tonics hasta Cosmopolitan o piña colada, y lo que más me gusta, presentados estupendamente, con su copa adecuada y sus adornos.


El bar además es muy acogedor, con decoración bonita, luz tenue y música que invita a quedarse. Así que ya sabéis, para desayuno, postre o copita, un sitio genial.

Un apartamento parisino fue dejado intacto por más de 70 años y fue descubierto en el barrio de Pigalle, hace unos veranos.

La propietaria de este apartamento, una tal señora De Florian, abandonó París poco antes de los rumores de la Segunda Guerra Mundial que estalló en Europa. Ella cerró sus persianas y se fue para el sur de Francia, para no volver a la ciudad de nuevo. Siete décadas más tarde, falleció a la edad de 91 años. Fue sólo cuando sus herederos alistaron profesionales para hacer un inventario del apartamento que dejó atrás, que esta cápsula del tiempo fue finalmente abierta.

El equipo que tuvo el honor de abrir lo que debe haber sido una vieja cerradura muy rígida, por primera vez en 70 años, comparó la experiencia de “tropezarse con el castillo de la bella durmiente”. El olor a polvo, las telarañas y el silencio, fueron abrumadores. Allí encontraron pinturas, juguetes, ropa y distintos artículos.

Con un poco de opinión histórica de los expertos, la pintura de la mujer del vestido rosado era de Giovanni Boldini, uno de los pintores más importantes de la Belle Époque. La pintura fue vendida posteriormente por 3 millones de dólares en una subasta.

El autor de Juegos de Tronos, habló de “El Mundo de Hielo y Fuego“, su nuevo libro. Martin reveló que los lugares escogidos para filmar la serie pueden ser magníficos, pero no son de la forma en que imaginó que se verían.

“Quería versiones exactas de estos castillos. Hemos tenido una serie de diferentes artistas que dibujan y algunos de sus trabajos han sido bellas imágenes, pero no necesariamente precisos a lo que he descrito”.

El autor dijo que para este nuevo libro, trabajó en estrecha colaboración con los ilustradores para que las imágenes y las ubicaciones, lo satisfagan como los imaginó en su mente.

Although living in a big city may have a seemingly endless list of perks for many, living in a cultural epicenter with millions of other people is not without its drawbacks, too.
