Legendary Giant from Classic Robot Anime Ideon Gets 73 cm-Tall Soft Vinyl Figure

by news+feed@crunchyroll.com

Bandai Namco Group's toy company Plex has started accepting pre-orders for a 73 cm-tall soft vinyl figure

of Ideon, the main robot in Surise's classic robot anime in the early 1980s, Densetsu Kyojin Ideon/Space

Runaway Ideon, for July 2019 release.

The sci-fi robot anime directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino was aired for 39 episodes in Japan from May 1980 to

January 1981. It was originally planned for a 43-episode run, but was canceled after its 39th episode due

to low ratings and poor sales of its merchandises. In July 1982, two compilation films including the TV

anime's original ending, The Ideon: A Contact and The Ideon: Be Invoked, were released.

Based on the original anime design sketches of the 105 meters tall robot, the 1/144 scale figure is recreated

with more details using the latest digital molding technology. Its estimated weight is over 3kg and price in

Japan is 59,400 yen (about 530 US dollars).

Purchasers at Premium Bandai wil also get an original character display plate.

Saint Young Men Manga Debuts in English as Digital Title

by news+feed@crunchyroll.com

Folks who have been holding out for an English release of Hikaru Nakamura's Saint Young Men manga can now breathe a sigh of relief. The series about Buddha and Jesus sharing a low-rent apartment is officially coming out digitally, with a preview available online ahead of the first volume's debut on April 23.

Saint Young Men first launched in Kodansha's Morning two magazine back in 2006, and has since inspired an anime film, anime OADs, and a live-action TV series. Here's how Kodansha describes it:

There are saints living in Tokyo, Japan: Buddha the Enlightened One and Jesus, Son of God. After successfully bringing the previous century to a close, the two share an apartment in Tachikawa while enjoying some well-earned time off down on Earth. Buddha pinches pennies like a typical neighborhood housewife, while Jesus is prone to making impulse buys. Read all about the saintliest duo’s carefree days in Tachikawa …

Mascots and Mecha Clash in "Gundam vs. Hello Kitty" Project

by news+feed@crunchyroll.com

Cuteness is freed from the bonds of gravity in "Gundam vs. Hello Kitty", a strange new collaboration that celebrates the 40th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam and the 45th anniversary of Sanrio's Hello Kitty mascot character with a "showdown project" that pits both franchises against one another online and in real life.

Although the full details of "Gundam vs. Hello Kitty" have not yet been revealed, it is known that the project involves a LINE campaign where fans can vote for their favorite characters from each franchise and earn prizes, real-life promotions with restaurants and retail stores featuring this new rivalry, a "real mystery solving game" sponsored by SCRAP that is scheduled for Summer of 2019, and an animated preview video in which Kitty and the Gundam crew meet.

The "Gundam vs. Hello Kitty" project also includes an official home page and Twitter (@gundamvskitty), an offical Youtube channel (currently empty, the first PV will be uploaded in April), and an official LINE page. More details about "Gundam vs. Hello Kitty" will be released in April of 2019.

I don't think it's possible for Amuro to defeat Kitty without access to the Psycho-Frame system. She's just too powerful.

Love Songs Abound on Rose of Versailles Dating Sim Soundtrack

by news+feed@crunchyroll.com

Rose of Versailles lives on — sort of — as a new visual novel, and the accompanying soundtrack will feature new romantic tunes and a ton of bonuses.

Berubara Private Academy ~Rose of Versailles Re*imagination~ casts the player as Yamada Oscar, a girl whose mother is a huge Rose of Versailles fan and named her after the show's legendary heroine. When Oscar enters the prestigious Berubara Private Academy, she discovers there's another Oscar there: Maki Nozomi, whose resemblance to the original Oscar earned her the nickname.

The shoujo romance features more series analogues. Oscar's love André appears as childhood friend Ando Reiji, Marie Antoinette becomes school beauty Arisugawa Mari, and Swedish aristocrat Hans Axel von Fersen becomes exchange student Hatori Y Axel.

Musical duo ACRYLICSTAB performs the opening for the game, titled "Mikansei ACTOR." The pair previously performed on the soundtrack for PS3 game Ateleir Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. Children of the Whales OP singer RIRIKO provides the ending theme, "Ring a Bell."

The Berubara Private Academy soundtrack will feature full-length cuts of both songs, instrumental tracks for both, and 24 BGM tracks. Standard editions of the soundtrack will come with a bromide, while limited editions will be packaged with two heart-shaped pinback buttons. Limited editions purchased via Animate will also include a clear file.

Berubara Private Academy ~Rose of Versailles Re*imagination~ goes on sale May 23, and the soundtrack will be released on June 26.
