Exactly what NOT to do after a self-defense shooting - Case of Charles Brackhan

by BerettaSCFan
Beretta can't even think of a thing to say on this one.

Charles Brackhan is facing a concealment of a death charge after a fatal shooting which he claims was in self-defense. After someone broke into his rural home and there was an exchange of gunfire, resulting in a death. (OK so Far) Brackhan then moved the body from inside his home to a location several miles away. Why? He had an illegal marijuana grow operation that he did not want discovered by police when they responded to the shots fired in self-defense.

Square Drops All Firearm and Ammunition Retailers

by T.S.
I am unfamiliar with this company, but for those of you who are, Square, Inc., the mobile credit card processor has decided to make a change to their user agreement today.

Square has decided to drop all transactions related to firearm and ammunition sales as well as “weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury”.

With the sales of firearms, ammunition, and 'other devices' skyrocketing this seems to be a pretty dumb move on their part. Surely anybody who had used them in the past will now take their business elsewhere to those that still will.

How do these 'geniuses' ever become successful in business?

Magic Green Hat

by safetyguy60
Magic Green Hat

The other day I needed to go to the emergency room.

Not wanting to sit there for 4 hours, I put on my MAGIC GREEN HAT.

When I went into the E.R., I noticed that 3/4 of the people got up and left.
I guess they decided that they weren't that sick after all.
Cut at least 3 hours off my waiting time.

It also works at DMV. It saved me 5 hours.

At the Laundromat, three minutes after entering, I had my choice of any machine, most still running.

But...don't try it at McDonald's. The whole crew got up and left and l never got my order!

gun goes off

by kd4gij
ANOTHER gun goes off by it self! :dunno Right.

ST. PETERSBURG --
Police have released details about the accidental shooting that happened at the Tyrone Mall Starbucks over the weekend.

According to police spokesman Mike Puetz, 51-year-old Pamela Beck was standing in line with her friend when her gun went off. The friend, 38-year-old Amie Peterson, was shot in the left leg.

Beck apparently went to put her purse down and a gun in the bottom of the purse discharged, Puetz said.

Peterson was taken to Bayfront Medical Center and was treated and released. The incident happened around 5 p.m. Saturday.

The .25 caliber semi-automatic gun had been given to Beck by her father for protection, and she had forgotten it was in the bottom of the purse she brought to the mall. It was loaded with six rounds and one in the chamber, Puetz said.

Beck did not have a concealed weapons permit, Puetz said. She has not been charged, but the State Attorney's Office is reviewing the case.

Taurus 28 Gauge Raging Judge Handgun:

by noreply@blogger.com (The Daily Gun Pictures and Hunting Blog)
Thank you ' Mr. Blaster ' for your submittal.
Taurus had designed this handgun for export, but it cannot be found on their 2013 Catalog. Apparently the ATF, has banned it's import into the United States.
Even if it were allowed to be sold in the USA, come on Taurus a 28 Gauge? Get real, 16 gauge and 28 gauge are NOT popular shotgun shell sizes in the USA, and ammo is very hard to find and expensive. More practical would have been a 20 Gauge or possibly a 12 Gauge for sale in the United States.

Some design notes on this so-called handgun are:
It is also referred to as the 'Raging Bull'.
Has a Cushioned Insert Grip for reduced recoil.
Ordnance Grade Steel Frame.
Single / Double Action Trigger.
Front Optic Sight.
Made in Matt or Blued Frame.
6.5 Inch Barrel.
13.75 Inch Overall Length.
Weight 67 Ounces Unloaded.
Holds 5-Rounds of 28 Gauge Shotgun Shells.
Has a security feature that locks the gun from use with a hidden key.

Kansas Secretary of State Kobach…”we will happily meet Mr. Holder in court.”

by Dean Garrison

kris kobach kansas secretary of stateKansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach has responded to Eric Holder and he is not backing down. Kobach warned, in a statement released Thursday, “With respect to any litigation, we will happily meet Mr. Holder in court.”

For the State of Kansas to pass the strongest 2nd Amendment legislation in the nation made my heart swell with American pride and their rejection of Mr. Eric Holder yesterday made me even prouder. I was born in Kansas and will die a “Jayhawk.”

For those who don’t know… The Jayhawkers were “Free Staters” during the American Civil War. They would go into Missouri and “steal” slaves in order to ensure their God-given right to freedom. And so it is today. The proud people of Kansas value freedom that is a God-given right and they will not be intimidated by the likes of Attorney General Holder.

Last week Eric Holder sent a letter to Governor Sam Brownback informing the Governor that Kansas S.B. 102, The Second Amendment Protection Act, was unconstitutional. Here is a brief quote from the letter:

“In purporting to override federal law and to criminalize the official acts of federal officers, S.B. 102 directly conflicts with federal law and is therefore unconstitutional.”

Kris W. Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State, was quick to respond. Here is an excerpt from his official statement:

“On April 26, 2013, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder sent a letter to Kansas Governor Brownback concerning SB 102, the Second Amendment Protection Act. In that letter, Holder declares SB 102 to be unconstitutional and suggests that federal officials will disregard it. Holder’s understanding of the United States Constitution is incorrect.

As one of the co-authors of SB 102 and a former professor of constitutional law, I ensured that it was drafted to withstand any legal challenge. SB 102 states that a firearm that is assembled in Kansas, that is stamped “Made in Kansas,” and that never leaves the State of Kansas is not subject to regulation by the federal government. It was drafted with the intent to assert Kansas’s authority as a co-equal sovereign under the United States Constitution to regulate a matter that is outside Congress’s jurisdiction under the Interstate Commerce Clause of Article I, Section 8. It was also drafted to stave off unconstitutional legislation pending in Congress that not only infringes upon the Second Amendment rights of Kansas Citizens, but also exceeds Congress’s constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce.”

I am attaching a copy of both letters at the end of the article for those who would like to read them in full. Eric Holder was just taken to school by a real constitutional scholar. The legislators in Kansas have shored up every loophole and this legislation should be a model for other states to follow.

Make no mistake Mr. Holder. If you send your people to Kansas in pursuit of any kind of unconstitutional gun grab they can and will be arrested. This is the law. You do not write laws in the State of Kansas.

This is not New York or California Mr. Holder. This is Kansas.

In Kansas we still cling to our God and our guns.

Jayhawks stand for freedom and will not back down at any cost. The stakes are too high.

Molon Labe Mr. Attorney General!

Holder to Brownback

DHS Whistleblower Says War on Terror is a Charade…Real Target American Patriots

by Tim Brown

DHS NaziJulia Davis, a former Customs and Border Protections Officer, was falsely declared a domestic terrorist and subjected to retaliatory efforts against her by the Department of Homeland Security. Her home was raided by a 27 man “special response team.” She was twice falsely arrested and imprisoned, but later exonerated. She is now a national security expert and has put out a historical documentary titled Top Priority: The Terror Within. She claims that the War On Terror by the Department of Homeland Security is a charade and that the agency seems to be targeting concerned American patriots.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Davis says her documentary is about her time with DHS in dealing with applicants from countries with ties to terrorism, who are seeking to come into the United States.

She says that they had “very specific alerts” that on July 4, 2004 that members of Al-Qaeda would be attempting to cross the border from Mexico into the US. The land port where Ms. Davis worked is the largest and busiest land port in the world, San Ysidro Port. She says that Islamic clerics say this is the best place to breech the US border because of the large number of people coming through.

She says that she began to input the information into the DHS database, which she was required to do as a supervisor, and she noticed that she had a high number of people from terrorist countries set to come through her port on July 4. She says there were 23 people form terrorist countries who were to be admitted into the US on that day. She said the average number of people coming from terrorist countries would normally be 5-10 per month. So to have 23 in a ten hour span was “alarming.”

But it goes further. Davis says that none of these people were subjected to routine checks that were in place for applicants from terrorist countries. According to Davis, “They were supposed to be fingerprinted. They were supposed to be asked why they left the US, why they were coming back, where they were living… all these different procedures that would have taken approximately an hour for each person. None of it was done.”

In fact, in some of the cases, the individuals didn’t fill out the paperwork or provide the documents they were supposed to in order to come into the United States.

Davis indicated that the Port Director was not informed about the situation and that when she went higher up to Intel and she said she “nearly fell down” when she found a “closed door.” The entire Intel office was “given the day off so that they could Bar-B-Q on the Fourth of July.” Ultimately there was no one that she could report her findings to. Coincidence? I think not.

The Port Director wasn’t worried either. He simply told her to put it in their box and they would get to it when they had opportunity. This was in direct opposition to what their manual stated was to happen, according to Ms. Davis. They were to get the information to a joint terrorism task force.

That night, since she was no longer under the Port Director’s orders, she contacted the FBI to inform them of the situation. In her mind, she was simply being patriotic and informing people who should be able to use the information to deal with a very real threat. She simply wanted to make sure that while others were barbequing that nothing was going to be blown up in the United States.

From that time on, every day when she came to work she was being investigated for one thing or another. She says everything they brought up to here was frivolous and ridiculous and she believes it was an attempt to get her fired to discredit anything she would say. All of this was because the FBI knew the information and DHS was embarrassed that the information came to them the way it did.

Within a period of two weeks, Davis was the subject of 19 investigations. By the time she sued Homeland Security there had been 54 investigations! On top of that, she was declared a domestic terrorist! My fellow Americans, this is a woman that sought to ensure the safety of our border! She was vigilant at her job and according to what she is saying, our government, if the allegations are true, has acted not only negligently against the American people, but criminally against her.

Davis’ home was raided by a 27 man SWAT team in a Blackhawk helicopter. She said they spent more time and utilized more man power raiding her home without a warrant than the government used to raid the alleged compound of Osama bin Laden.

Davis believes that no one dealt with the issue she brought forward because either they were derelict of duty or, more likely, there was corruption. She said that the Customs Department is historically one of the most corrupt agencies, especially the land port where she worked. In fact, she said that her border crossing had a Port Director who was caught taking bribes to allow people to come across. She also said there were intel reports that came up later which indicated that Arab nationals were offering $5,000 per person to allow individuals across the border without facing any scrutiny.

When asked what she thought about DHS and their priorities, Davis said:

“It makes me think that he so-called ‘War on Terror’ is more of a charade and that the priority of the agency seems to be to target concerned citizens and whistleblowers because in my case… they sent an airplane to follow me… they had eight agents at a time following me… they used airplanes, vehicles, helicopters… they used OnStar to listen to what was being said in our cars.”

As her lawsuit progressed, she says she obtained documentation of why DHS said she was a domestic terrorist. According to the documentation, DHS labeled David a domestic terrorist “for derogatory statements made in her filings and in her articles about the Department of Homeland Security.” Well I guess I know what I’m labeled then, eh?

Davis believes that DHS acts in this way so that they don’t have to follow the laws (something people like Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain agree with) and not have to follow the Constitution. Keep in mind though that we are not talking about the DHS under Barack Obama, but the DHS under George W. Bush.

Since the release of her film, their Fleur De Lis (the producer of the film) family stores have been raided by DHS and they are under continual surveillance. She also has a number of electronic interruptions as well. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audited them along with their attorneys who assisted her as she prevailed against DHS.

There is more in the video, which you will want to see. However, even after she is exonerated, DHS continues to hound her. This is not freedom. This is not liberty. This is not justice. This is the face of tyranny and yes, it’s here in the US.

DHS Now Seeking Millions of Rounds of “Frangible” Ammunition

by Tim Brown

dhs seeks frangible ammoAs I pointed out to you before, the Department of Homeland Security had nearly 264 million rounds of ammunition in their inventory at the beginning of Fiscal Year 2013. DHS also had roughly $37 million of taxpayer money to spend on ammunition as well. Though they have claimed that the Sequester has cut into their budget so much that they were releasing felons into the population, they continue their search for millions of rounds of ammunition, but this ammunition is specifically designed for the range.

Following the solicitations of over 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition last year, “Big Sis” has put out a new request for ammunition. This time they are looking for frangible ammunition. This type of ammunition is designed to “disintegrate into tiny particles upon impact to minimize their penetration for reasons of range safety, to limit environmental impact, or to limit the danger behind the intended target.”

According to Global Security, “Frangible ammunition represents the first viable revolutionary change to firearms science in the past 100 years. Frangible ammunition is a relatively recent development in bullets, presenting a departure from the standard projectiles in use for both range shooting and personal protection. With the advent of modern hostage rescue tactics in the 1970s and 1980s, the military and police agencies began to look for ways to minimize over penetration risks. One widely-accepted solution was the frangible round, also known as the AET (Advanced Energy Transfer) round.”

DHS’ solicitation refers to the frangible ammo as “reduced hazard training ammunition.” According to solicitation number HSFLGL-RFI-00056, DHS is requesting the following:

CALIBER TYPE; Acceptable Bullet Weight Range

  • 9MM Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 90 -105
  • 10MM Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 100-135
  • .357 SIG Caliber Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 100-115
  • .38 SPL Caliber Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 110-
  • .380 Auto Caliber Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 70-75
  • .40 S&W Caliber Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 100-135
  • .45 Auto Caliber Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 155-
  • .223 REM aliber Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 50-55
  • .308 WIN Caliber Jacketed, Reduced Hazard; 165-168
  • 12 Gauge Steel Shot Target Load, Reduced Hazard; #7
  • 12 Gauge #00 Buckshot Full Recoil, Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 8 PELLET
  • 12 Gauge #00 Buckshot Reduced Recoil, Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 8 PELLET
  • 12 Gauge #00 Buckshot Full Recoil, Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 9 PELLET
  • 12 Gauge #00 Buckshot Reduced Recoil, Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 9 PELLET
  • 12 Gauge Rifled Slug Full Recoil, Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 1 OZ
  • 12 Gauge Rifled Slug Reduced Recoil, Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 1 OZ
  • 12 Gauge #4 Buckshot Full Recoil, Reduced Hazard, Frangible; 27 PELLET
  • 12 GAUGE #4 Buckshot Reduced Recoil, Reduced Hazard; 27 PELLET

DHS also wants to know just how fast these manufacturers can turn out this ammunition. For instance, they as the following questions:

  • Are you capable of producing large quantity orders of any training caliber specified with a short turnaround time of 30-60 days?
  • What would your lead time be for an order of 2 million rounds of a single type listed above?
  • If you were awarded a contract for some of the calibers listed above, submitted a production lot of one million rounds and that lot or portion of the lot was not accepted, would you be able to replace that order with an additional one million rounds within 60 days?

You can read about the differences of terminal ballistics between frangible rounds and others here. Most people commenting on the frangible rounds say they would not use them, though there are exceptions of those that would use them in a home defense setting.

The problem is that with budget tightening, is the purchase of frangible ammunition frugal? The answer is both yes and no. It is more expensive than full metal jacket ammo, but usually less expensive than defense ammunition (hollow points). They are also considered to be safer, as they are designed to be “lead free,” and additionally, as the video below indicates, the user can recycle the copper and recoup some of the money spent on the ammunition.

Could these be used away from the range? Of course, but experts say they are used for scenarios where you don’t want over penetration.

This switch to frangible ammunition is interesting in light of the fact that the Government Accountability Office is “just getting underway” with an investigation on DHS ammo purchases. USNews reports:

The congressional investigative agency is jumping into the fray just as legislation was introduced in both the Senate and the House to restrict the purchase of ammo by some government agencies (except the Department of Defense). The AMMO Act, introduced Friday, would prevent agencies from buying more ammunition if “stockpiles” are greater than what they were in previous administrations.

Donelle Harder, a spokeswoman for Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., who introduced the legislation in the Senate, tells Whispers the bill would also require GAO to share the findings of its report on DHS purchases with Congress.

Officials at DHS have denied to both Whispers and lawmakers that it is stockpiling ammunition. The Associated Press reported in February that DHS wanted to buy more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, but DHS officials testified last week it was only planning to buy up to 750 million.
